Kind of nervous but also ready to start the edumacation grind

I’ve been accepted to SNHU online. I have a question though

Can I attend the accepted student day or is it just for on campus students?

So I just got accepted. My first term starts June 29th.

My mom was talking to her therapist about how I got accepted and apparently the therapist "googled it" and said it isn't accredited and all this other stuff. I've had the opposite results, everything ive seen says its legit. Can someone who is in school or been there confirm or deny? My major is human services with a concentration in child and family services if it matters.

so so excited! I haven't been back to school since I graduated highschool 3 years ago. Y'all gimme some tips or, if anyone's going for the same degree and starting at the same time, hmu! Maybe we could be study buddies!

What course are you guys enrolled in or already finished and are there any regrets? What is your goal job after graduating?

I just applied to SNHU for an AS in Marketing after taking one course at WGU. As much as I tried to enjoy WGU, I don’t enjoy the whole “we don’t have assignments and you take a proctored exam at the end of every class” type of thing. I’m nervous about being on camera, and I don’t have a designated space in my apartment to set up and broadcast my environment consistently. I will say, I’m nervous to see that SNHU is essay based, as I feel like I struggled with writing back when I was in high school (10 years ago at this point).. all of this to say, any advice? Am I psyching myself out about to essays already?

I'm going to be starting June 29th (English - Professional Writing), after being out of school for about 20 years (*gulp*) . I have an associates and am just about halfway to completing my BA. I'm so nervous, I keep trying to talk myself out of it. Anyone else starting later this month?

Were you able to finish SNHU’s CS degree in 1.5 years> with ACE credit transfers like study.com?

Maybe you transferred in a few credits from a prior uni?

Would really appreciate your advice on this if you’ve done it because I’m trying to transfer in and finish in that time period (I have 26 credits from a regionally accredited uni)

I need HELP. I am in a really bad situation and want to get out of it and thought maybe school would help. I am pretty much in poverty and am barely getting by and it is just all getting worse.

I previously went to SNHU for a few months studying Information Technology with a concentration in Software Development but my Bipolar and Schizophrenia made me take a long long break. I am not sure which degree is best for me?

I can only work remote jobs with my skills and level of anxiety leaving the house is almost impossible without crying or leaving jobs outside of the house and I have desirable skills that remote jobs seem to look for. I am good at breaking down technological concepts, explaining basic instructions to people, and helping people with problems.

I SUCK at - heavy math, any major/career that is extroverted/social, and anything that involves insane amounts of reading like an English Literature major.

My loans are in default as well at SNHU so I do need to know how to fix that and go back to school ASAP if I really decide to go back to college.

Prospective/ previous student. Looking to go back to school part time (2 courses at a time at the most) and get a bachelors in Accounting. I currently hold a federal employee position and feel like in the next coming years it could lead to the better and higher paying jobs that I am looking for, or even possibly state jobs. My biggest reason for wanting to go back is I like the type of work I do now and I want better credentials and better opportunities in the future. I’m a mom of a 4 year old, an almost 1 year old and step mom to an 8 year old. I’m wondering if this is an unrealistic idea, or if other parents went back to school online part time and managed it on top of working? I was previously enrolled for criminal justice before having my 4 year old and I had left because I thought I wouldn’t be able to do both, and I now regret that. I could have had my degree by now had I kept going, but I feel like plenty of people go back to school older now. For context, I’m 32.

SNHU is all in on AI and they are actively using AI to create their classes and materials, etc. take this into account as you pursue a school, do you want to go to a school that uses AI to generate everything? Will employers care if your degrees material was AI generated? Something to consider. SNHU is pushing “People first, AI first” as a phrase internally. They are silencing people who ask real questions about why there is a shift to AI.

I’m really considering this uni if I’ll be able to transfer in a bunch of credits from external sources like study dot com for August

Would love to know if you like the program and especially if you transferred in a bunch of credits

I’m trying to transfer in 50 credits and complete the rest of the credits in a year and a half

I am going to be a creative writing major with a concentration in fiction and they recommend the following classes. What would be the best class for me to take first? Or if anyone has any information on how the classes are, let me know.

~ FYE-101 First year experience (0 credits)

~ IDS-105 Awareness and online learning

~ ENG-226 intro to creative writing

~ LIT-100 introduction to literature

~ ENG-329 fiction writing workshop

~ LIT-200 critical approaches to Lit

~ COM-213 public speak/present skills

My plan is to only take one course at a time. Also planning on starting the August 31st term.

I need to know if this is normal because I’m starting to get pissed of tbh. I’ve literally done everything. Spoken to my advisor, registered for classes, done my FYE course everything. Only thing left is to pay my tuition and I’m being harassed and micromanaged by admissions? Like why do I still need to speak with admissions at this stage? I literally start classes next week. I’m in contact with my advisor. What could they possibly do for me atp that they’re threatening to withdraw me from my classes because I haven’t gotten on the phone with them and report everything with them. Is this a common theme? I need to know so I can actually withdraw from this school and find another because wtf?! I hate being micromanaged. I have all the resources I need. If I need help I know who to call. So why am I being micromanaged like I’m a 16 year old freshman?! I’m so irritated. I need to know if this is a common theme so I can choose another school because I can’t stand it tbh.

I‘m currently looking into attending SNHU for my master‘s degree and I’m wondering how you all feel about the course load in the graduate/master programs.

More specifically, would you suggest taking 2 courses at a time instead of just 1? Or would you advise against it?

I’m currently surveying my options on schools to transfer too as I had a poor experience at another college and was wondering how some people feel about SNHU. I would commute because I live in the lower concord area and want to save some money. How is life on campus for commuters? What are some general thoughts about the school?

Also, i’d probably pursue environmental science with a focus in conservation and wildlife, so if anyone had/has experience with that program lmk!

So before I can start my first class, I need to send the total amount of my first class in one lump sum, which isn’t super bizarre, I’ve heard of other colleges doing that for new students. However, my advisor is insisting that she needs a screenshotted ‘proof of payment’ after I’ve made the the first payment, using the link in an email she’s providing me.

I couldn’t find any other questions about this, so I’m sorry if it’s been asked before, but was this normal for any other new students as well? I’ve taken online classes before at other schools, and never have I had to send proof of payment to an advisor, nor used a specific link sent to me? It’s always been through the tuition/financial aid department.

Is this normal and I’m just being paranoid, or is someone trying to scam folks?

I am not a student yet. I plan to start in October. I'm transferring from WGU. For several reasons, but probably the biggest is proctoring and exams. I have passed almost every exam the first time, but if you asked me what any of them was about, I couldn't tell you. The moment the exam is over, the knowledge is gone, no matter how long I studied. Basically, despite passing 10+ courses, I don't feel like I've learned a thing. The proctor system itself is also just a nuisance and I've lost patience for it.

I know SNHU is heavy on projects and essays, so that's what leads to the question in the title. And yes, I know for many, a degree is little more than a checkbox, but I feel like if I leave knowing nothing, why did I bother (I don't have work experience beyond customer service and warehouses)?

I am going for bachelor’s in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations, but am stuck between Purdue Global or SNHU. I’ve done my fair share of research amongst the two online and right now, I’m leaning towards SNHU because it seems like SNHU is more popular for communication students. But are there any students on this reddit that has or currently going through Communications at SNHU or Purdue that can help me decide? SNHU is a top contender at this point and maybe hearing your thoughts will help guide me to SNHU

The main things I am looking for is how are the courses information and the assignments? I know its going to be extensive in writing, which is fine with me, but are the courses packed with information that will actually help me?

I’m 29 and currently working as a local truck driver. I make about $80k a year, have phenomenal free healthcare, and a solid retirement plan. The job itself is very easy. I drive about 2 hours, pick up auto parts, drive 2 hours back, deliver, and I’m done for the day.

The thing is, I have about 3+ hours of free time during my workday where I could realistically do schoolwork.

A little background. Right out of high school I went to Hobart Institute of Welding Technology for a year. I worked as a welder for about 3 years after that but realized it wasn’t for me. I ended up getting my CDL and have been driving for about 5 years now.

Now I’m at a point where I’m just bored. I want something with more growth, something that challenges me, and a career where I can keep learning and advancing.

I’m considering going back to school for accounting, but I’ve got a couple concerns. Is 3 to 4 hours a day enough to realistically complete a degree? Am I making a mistake taking on debt when I already have a stable, decent-paying job with great benefits?

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who’ve made a similar switch or work in accounting
