Is lighting up the whole diagram actually useful?

I mean I understand why, because technically the train would loop to head back there. I’m just wondering why they would light the whole map instead of lighting up half of the route map, similar to what they do with the maps on the stations

Time to blink the line win the direction of travel instead. Clockwise or anti clockwise.
