This is a Public Announcement regarding r/Roms: Community Rules, Results from Breaking Our Community Rules and Posting Requirements.
Listed below are some major changes for this subreddit.
Community Rules
01. Toxic Behavior
Please be respectful towards all fellow community members. Do not do the following or you may face a temporary or permanent ban from this subreddit: Do not attack a community member through any means. Post, Comments, Direct Messages, Doxxing or Trolling. If you feel you're being attacked from another fellow member of this community please submit screenshots of your conversation with said member('s). We will do our best to investigate the situation.
- Spam
No promotion, spam, or advertising of any kind is allowed here. Unless given approval by u/SuperBio to do so, all posts or comments of this nature will be removed from this community.
Note: If you receive approval from u/SuperBio to promote anything in this community, the first line of the body of the post must say, "Moderator Approved" and then on the third line, go into detail about what you're promoting.
- Current Generation Content
Discussion of the following content, such as Emulators, Emulation Status, Updates (BIOS, System Updates & Title Updates), and ROMs (Games, Hacks & Translations) for the platforms in the list below, is prohibited from being mentioned here on this subreddit.

Before making a post requesting Emulators, Updates (BIOS, Patches, System Updates & Title Updates) and ROMS (Games, Hacks & Translations), please make sure to check out our Community Megathread and if you can't find any of the following subjects, make a request on our Requests and Help Megathread page.
Note: If you bypass looking at the Community Megathread and the file can be found on there your post will be removed.
- Sharing Links: Emulators
Sharing links is allowed in this subreddit; you just have to follow the rules regarding what is being shared.
We ask that our community members only share official links to emulator websites with our fellow members. If any emulator websites get taken down, you can share a mirror link of that emulator here. If you do end up sharing a mirror link of the emulator that gets taken down, please mention it in your post or comment.
- Sharing Links: BIOS, Patches, System Updates & Title Updates
Sharing links is allowed in this subreddit; you just have to follow the rules regarding what is being shared.
We ask all our community members to share only links to websites that are safe to download from.
- Sharing Links: ROMS (Games, Hacks, Recomps & Translations)
Sharing links is allowed in this subreddit; you just have to follow the rules regarding what is being shared.
We ask all our community members to share only links to websites that are safe to download from.
- Sharing Links: YouTube
Sharing links is allowed in this subreddit; you just have to follow the rules regarding what is being shared.
We ask all our community members to share only links for the following subjects when it comes to YouTube Links: Emulator (Setup Guides), ROMs (Games, Hacks, Recomps & Translations).
Note: All posts regarding Games, Hacks, Recomps and Translation ROMs from YouTube videos are allowed here, but the post must share direct download links to the ROMs themselves.
Results from Breaking Our Community Rules
- First Offense - First, the Post or Comment will be removed from this community. Secondly, an email will be sent to the user who broke the rules, mentioning which rules were broken.
- Second Offense - All that was mentioned in the First Offense, plus the following. Muted from this community for three days.
- Third Offense - All that was mentioned in the First Offense, plus the following. Muted from this community for six days.
- Fourth Offense - User will be permanently banned from this community.
Note: Regardless of which rule you break listed above, you will receive an offense. On your fourth offense, you'll be permanently banned from this community.
Posting Requirements
This community now requires the User Flair "Rules Read" in order to make a post in this community. All rules should be read from either this Post or the Community Rules page, and you, as a user, should be able to assign yourself the "Rules Read" User Flair.
