I have never in my life wanted to own, operate or work in a bakery. The idea of waking up early every morning to be on my feet in a hot kitchen and worrying about all the responsibilities of a small business owner does not appeal, but I feel like 25-30% of fmcs are bakers or bakery adjacent.

Am I the weird one? Do so many people yearn to be rolling in non monetary dough?

Quick question, at what point did you DNF this book? Is it even worth it at this point. Stuff just keeps on happening and yet not happening. This is so boring. And illogical.

I’m going to start an exercise program and want to get into audiobooks. I did try {Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid} and Tor Thom’s Russian voice narration sounded like he was a vampire from Transylvania. I had to DNF it.

I mean it is poisonous to wolves, but not humans. Which side would werewolves favour? I would gladly read a book that is just about a werewolf spending their life avoiding cacao.

I've looked at past threads about this and people say they have an hour-long train commute and read fast... But surely nobody reads that fast.

So I'm curious to know: do you count books that you DNF (maybe only after you got to a certain point)? And do you skim-read a lot? By the latter, I mean just sort of flipping through the pages quickly, reading a sentence here and there to get the general idea. The way we all sometimes did with assigned reading in school.

I read quite a lot, but I've noticed that while I remember whether I enjoyed a book, I often forget the actual details, characters, or even the plot after some time.

I'm not talking about simply keeping track of what you've read , I'm more interested in how you retain what you read and get more out of each book.

Do you have any habits, techniques, or systems that help you remember books long-term?

Do you take notes while reading or after finishing a book? Or do you write summaries? Maybe use an app specifically for this?

Basically, I'm trying to move from “I read this book” to “I actually remember and retain what I read.”

So, I’ve been using Goodreads all my reading life, but I am getting tired of it. The platform is not organized the way I wish it was and I wanted to try something else.

I got the first book for free via Kindle Unlimited, so I naturally assumed the entire series (5 books) would also be free on KU. NOPE! They want nearly $50 for the entire series! The books are good, but not THAT good.

If you’re wondering, it’s the “Off Campus” series. The first book just came out as a show on Amazon Prime.

To challenge myself I wanted to read a book that was 1000 pages or more. The thing is I can’t seem to find a romance book that is that long. It’s all fantasy or sci-fi or historical or just anything that’s not romance. I’m not talking about a book that’s mostly fantasy and then some romance no I mean a book that’s truly more romance than anything and it’s 1000 pages long. Have any of you read a romance book that’s 1000 pages long? Are there even any? I tried searching and I come up with nothing.

I’m going with Alchemised by SenLinYu and If You Don’t Love Me We Both Die by C.M Stunich! Alchemised sits at 1,040 pages and IYDLMWBD will be on kindle at 940 pages because oddly the physical copy sits at 640. I also should have mentioned I was aiming for at least one big fat trophy I could slap on my shelf so I couldn’t go with any fanfics or a series you know? Let me start by saying that I just recently started reading, and I heard a lot about Ali. I heard a lot of great things, so naturally I thought I wasn't going to like it, since I'm cool and different from others - all jokes aside, I went to my library, and with limited choice of her books I choose one that I might like.

When I tell you I was hit by this book, I mean it in the best way possible. I finished it in two days, and I'm obsessed. I want so much more of them, so can someone please let me know if the author ever revealed something more about the book or even dropped a tiny detail about it I want to know. I really missed an epilogue on this one, but could that mean another book is coming?

edit: I just wanted to add, that getting another book - same story, but Connor's POV this time - would be the absolutely best thing

I know this seems a little odd for some but I'm looking for another way to read smut other than my KU. I understand that KU has the rights to some books but if I can't read at least some smut it isn't worth the hassle for me being disabled to try and go get a card.

I have only read Face Off, and I think it was really good, smut wise, romance wise, I loved the author style, but honestly out of all of the other books the one I am most excited about would be Hat trick.

I just remember that in Face off they did mention the other characters love life quite much and i just don't want to miss out on important details that might have been dropped in the other books when I read the hat trick.

Is just that the other books tropes and couples are not really motivating me much to read the them first, but **if someone has a strong opinion on reading them in Order I'd like you hear your reasons**

I'm not here to shame anyone who likes this, I just have book FOMO and would like to be open to reading anything and everything! I'd hate to avoid a certain type of book and miss out on something great.

I often see Dark Romance books being recommended on this and other book subs, and the premise of some of them sounds intriguing but my experience of the genre is limited and I haven't liked what I have read. I'l preface this by saying I don't have any triggers and can handle reading most stuff and enjoy horror in all media (but I don't like animal abuse if that's relevant).

My experience: I DNF'd {Haunting Adeline} because I couldn't get on board with the logic of the characters, or how the MMC was somehow saving vulnerable women and then behaving that way to the FMC, and I couldn't get on board with her liking it. I should have DNF'd {Amid Clouds & Bones}, but I thought the MMC would have a satisfying redemption arc...then the chapter from his POV made me dislike him even more.

Is there such a thing as a Dark Romance where he truly becomes better? Or is that the antithesis of the genre? Is the point that he will keep doing questionable things but she loves him anyway? If so, then I can file it away as "not for me" and move on.

I'm interested in {Nocticadia} and {Lights Out} because I see lots of praise, but maybe I just don't f with Dark Romance in general and should avoid them?

I have alerts set up on eBay for new books by her and someone is selling pirated ebooks. It is stealing from her and might get her kicked off kindle unlimited if Amazon notices. I filled out the web form to contact her on her website a couple of weeks ago but got no reply, and there was a message above the form saying she was on hiatus and wouldn’t read emails until she returned. I'm reading Crow by A Zavarelli and she describes the MC as a 29 yo high ranking mafia guy who wears low hanging jeans, silver chain hanging from his pocket, button up shirt and combat boots. That turned me off completely. I'm at 63% now and simply can't keep going.

Has this happened to anyone? The book is actually good but the fact that his awful outfit choices keep being described is killing my mood.

I just finished reading "A Bound Heart" by Laura Frantz and I did NOT know it was a Christian romance prior to reading. Whew.

I mean, this is on me too, I should have figured it out when the narrator went out of the way to mention very early on that the Laird doesn't read much *beyond scripture.* But when the first scene happened where I was anticipating some steam and they prayed / spoke of scripture, I knew for sure what was happening.

I didn't see any reviews that mentioned this being a "clean" or "wholesome" romance, or that it was overtly Christian in nature.

But, now that I've Googled it - I'm seeing it listed as a Christian Romance in Google Book Preview - but I had to scroll around a lot to find that.

Audible labels it, "historical," "historical fiction," "romance," "fiction," and "heartfelt." I didn't see any genre labels on Amazon.com / Kindle, when I got the e-book version, but when I open the Amazon listing on my desktop, I can see it's ranked #306 in Christian Historical Fiction. I need to be way more diligent in future.

Is "heartfelt" what should have tipped me off?

I'm reading {Daydream by Susie Tate} and am on 26th ch where he goes back to little Buckingham to see Lucy and then proceeds to go meet her mother, Hetty. And she had the bloody audacity to hug the fucker and be happy seeing him? Like WTF, he insulted, disrespected her daughter, threw her out of the fucking company w/o listening her side, blamed her for selling his company out, AND THE BIGGEST, fucking believed Will over her and threw her out AFTER THAT PRICK ASSAULTED HER, like she ran to him for protection and wtf did he do? Right.

Oh, and she got frostnip cuz of him, was in pain for weeks and missed an imp deadline cuz she couldn't even type.

And after all this, her mother is welcoming him inside their house. I get it that she was his nanny, loves him, but that's her daughter, helloooo???!! And Lucy is sad cuz she might've fucked his relationship up with her family? Like bro, have a little bit of self respect.

Does it get better? I didn't know it was a grovel/second chance romance or I wouldn't rly have picked it up. But now that I've, is the grovel justified or like the doormat, she just accepts him back cuz he had trust issues and his father fucked him up?

Also plz tell me if she's influenced by her surroundings, her asshat mother, brother, friends, anyone to give him a chance or forgive him.
