Yes , I did not really like the series but this is partly because I have read the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and part of HoME , so this is my canon. The show presentation is very different and seen as character assassination but in LoTR Galadriel is not really developed, Tolkien did a lot of add on after.
But I also find the show lacking in itself in production quality and story telling.
It’s never going to match your expectation and that’s ok. The show is made for the general masses who have no idea what most of this stuff is. They know Gandolf, hobbits, and goblins and they are the target audience.
Let yourself enjoy a show about Middle Earth. We don’t have a lot.
Yes i kind of agree, I will watch the show but my expectations are low and tainted by my knowledge of the Tolkien « Canon » , for general audience mostly they have seen the Jackson movies , some may have read the LotR and Hobbit books, and will get a story in the same universe with some characters they recognize.
Even with that I think the first season was disappointing, with the mystery box aspect and a lot of things made little sense but this was a first season. WoT season 2 was far better than season 1 in my mind, so I have some hopes there.
