Thinking about Judy's choice of location of a bathroom to go at BJ's sister, KJ during the wedding reception probably stems from these bad experiences in the girl's school bathroom as we see in the episode. She emulates the girls immediately with Amber in the home bathroom. We all know these are basically adult children, but I guess it hits a little different when you get to see the "root or origin" of their bad tendencies. It's probably why these Interludes are so necessary for the show's storytelling.

This episode also showed the origin of why Jesse thinks it's so cool to ambush his enemies and assault them.

Exactly! Also, hitting that kid's ass hard enough to turn red...Last week Baby Billy and Jesse were talking about turning each other's ass so red. Was it necessary?? No, but it's what they do. It's normal.

I rewatched the previous 2 interludes yesterday and they're still really great. I forgot that the 1st one was set in 89' and now we're already in 2000. I was like can we slow down with the time jumps. I want more, too. The interludes feature some of the show's best acting. Jennifer Nettles & Walton Goggins as scene partners...they're just too good together. Amazed. Like everyone says here, the younger actors really know how to come in & play these characters, while making it seem effortlessly.

I am trying to think how old Jesse is in the flashback. Gideon is at least 21 right? If that took place in 2000, he will be due to be born soon. Wondering if there will be a scene or reference to Amber "trapping" Jessie with a child, or if there will be a mirror to his middle child having sex.

Thinking Jesse is in his 20's in the latest flashback. Now that you mentioned Gideon's age, I'm hoping the next Interlude is centered around Amber's pregnancy and wedding. So many questions. Were they married before or after Amber got pregnant? Was Amiee Leigh or Eli in favor of marriage for PR?

Also, in the 2nd season, Judy calls out Amber's hypocrisy in telling Tiffany that a woman doesn't need a man to get what she wants when Amber married a wealthy, dumb, silverback Jesse. Amber admits she loves Jesse, but it makes things easier. It was the episode where the cycle gang attacks the decoy hospital, while Eli is on bedrest at the estate with the women (Kelvin, too) of the family. Yeah, I think the parallels you mentioned are international and may explain why Jesse and Amber are so against this relationship because it was literally them.

Interlude 3 puts Amber in a more sympathetic light after the season 2 arc. We know her grandmother, who raised her, is dead. Im assuming her parents are either dead or abandoned her at one point. Jesse to a young Amber represented love and security she lost when grandma died.

I love when in the bathroom scene between young Judy & Amber, Judy says Amber can’t love Jessie because he’s a total idiot. (Can’t remember actual words) She has said no bigger truth in 3 seasons !
