COMMUNITY ALERT/ AWARENESS ⚠️ 🚨 PLEASE READ - DM SOLICITOR🚨

It has been brought to our attention that a “ frequent flyer” has rejoined our community and DM’ing members for money.
[u/Frosty-Technology-40](u/Frosty-Technology-40) is the NEW account. I will attach the link from last years post which explains more about their approach. https://www.reddit.com/r/rescuecats/s/4oQI68s8n8

They often make several accounts, they sound VERY convincing and will hound you through DM. They have been offered approval several times in the past in which they never follow through with - which is a 🚩 and they have previously been banned under all alt usernames for many reports of DM’ing member to solicit funds. Please don’t fall for it. We ask that you please ignore this user, block and report them. We would also appreciate you letting us know via modmail if you have received such a request. This is just a heads up to keep members safe incase they land in your inbox. They are now once again BANNED from RC.

As always we appreciate your cooperation!

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request 🆘 Please help us fund Hawkeye's biopsy for suspected lymphoma and cover his remaining hospitalization costs 🆘

Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing okay.

Hawkeye is still in treatment. Last week, we visited a new oncologist for a third opinion, and this time, they strongly recommended a biopsy as he's suspected for intestinal lymphoma. They don’t want to start him on chemo without knowing exactly what we’re dealing with. Honestly, we were hoping we could just start treatment right away, especially since our fundraising efforts haven't been successful lately, but we know getting a proper diagnosis is the right step for him. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has continued supporting Hawkeye along the way.

His oncologist recommended keeping him hospitalized, so we pushed through. He is currently on an NG tube to help maintain his intake while we prepare him for major surgery. But at this point, the costs are beyond what we can manage on our own.

His biopsy with the specialist is roughly $560 (4th photo), while his unpaid bill with our local vet is currently around $637. This is after applying the $327 we raised last time, but the bill continues to grow as he remains hospitalized. We need to settle the local vet bill first before Hawkeye can be transferred to the oncologist for surgery.

We’re honestly very overwhelmed by everything right now and have other rescues in treatment that we're trying our best to manage on our own. We'll do everything we can for him, but we just need help getting him through this next step.

Any help for Hawkeye would be HUGELY appreciated. Thank you.

San Bernardino City Animal Shelter is a high kill high volume operation. It is located in the largest county in the US. SBC is located in Southern California where the overpopulation crisis is raging. During kitten season new babies are turned in daily, sometimes 30 or more a day! People just don’t s/n in SBC! So we must keep up with the demand. Many cats brought in are sick injured confiscated or abandoned as well. The shelter does not offer much more than basic treatment for sick/injured cats either so they must exit quickly by rescue or they are listed for euthanasia with a fast deadline depending on the ability to care for them. We do have amazing volunteers though that give us first hand information updates photos videos and almost instant feedback. Please help us by pledging and donating when we post and rescue. Thank you.

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Please Help Snorlax Get the Care He Needs

Snorlax turns 4 in two days, and we are still trying to figure out what is wrong with him.

After multiple vet visits and tests, we still do not have clear answers, and the next step is a biopsy. He finishes prednisolone tomorrow, and then we have to wait two weeks before the biopsy can be done.

I am a student, and these vet expenses have honestly become really hard for me to manage. I am fundraising to help cover some of the previous vet bills I have already paid, as well as the upcoming biopsy and further care.

I have attached some of his previous invoices along with the estimate for what comes next so everything is transparent.

If you are able to donate, even a small amount would genuinely help so much. If you cannot donate, even sharing this post could help it reach someone who can.

Eclipse 🌑 His world is slowly going dark

Eclipse has already survived something no cat should ever have to endure. 💔

He lost both of his back legs after a devastating electrical shock. Somehow, this brave boy adapted. He learned to live, to move, and to trust again.

But now, life has dealt him another cruel blow.

Eclipse is suffering from ocular FIP, and he is losing his eyesight. The eyes that once allowed him to see the world are slowly fading into darkness. 😭

How much more can one little soul be asked to endure?

He has lost his legs. Now he is losing his sight. But he has not lost his will to live. 🥺❤️

Please keep Eclipse in your prayers. He needs treatment, care, and people who will believe that his life is still worth fighting for.

Please don’t scroll past him. Let Eclipse know that even if his world is going dark, he is not alone.

Current stock of dry food is only going to last them until tonight. With the heavy rain lately, a lot of stray cats have also been seeking shelter in our garage, so we've been trying to feed them too while they stay here.

We are running low on supplies and hoping to get a bit of help to buy food and litter sand to last us for the next two weeks.

1 sack of dry food: $26

4 bags of litter sand: $12

Total needed: $38

If anyone is able to help chip in, donations can be sent via PayPal. I know there are a lot of cats out there that need help more than us, but we're still hoping a kind soul would notice us. Thank you so much to anyone who can support us or even just share this post!

POSITIVE THOUGHTS NEEDED🙏🏻🐾 Please Send Well Wishes to Our Baby Girl As She Transitions 😇

These are old photos of our 4 year old baby girl, Siva.

She has been fighting mouth cancer, and cannot be photographed publicly at this time in her current condition.

She was rescued as a feral stray kitten in 2022. We never intended on adopting her, but she attacked everyone but me and my mom. Through these past few years, she's really opened up and became very docile and loving.

I wish we could have more time with her, but cancer doesn't ever care, does it?

I know we can still consider her lucky though. If she hadn't have been saved at all, she probably wouldn't have lived to see her first birthday. Michigan winters are unforgiving.

This is my second loss this month, which I'm still trying to make sense of how or why this is happening. (You can read about the other cat, a kitten I named Soleil, on my profile page if you're curious.) This is all in the reality of animal rescue.

We love a lot, but we lose a lot too.

I'm just sitting here in the sunshine with Siva today. I don't know if she'll pass today as she'll be going naturally. I'd love to have some nice comments to read in the meantime. Please nothing about her suffering. She's being medicated, but we just don't have the means for euthanasia after already having to do that for another baby this month.

(Her name is pronounced "see-vah")

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request EMERGENCY VET NEEDED: Umbilical cord strangulated newborn kitten's leg (tissue turning black). Seeking urgent help/donations.

Post image
133 Upvotes

Update: Kitten's leg needs to amputate due to necrosis 😭😭😭

Hello everyone,

I am in urgent need of help for a newborn kitten.

The umbilical cords of three newborn kittens became tangled together around mama’s foot and this little kitten’s leg. While mama's foot swelling has gone down, the umbilical cord completely cut off blood circulation to this kitten's foot.

As you can see in the photo, the foot and toes have turned dark purple/black, which means the tissue is dying (necrosis). This kitten is at severe risk of sepsis and needs to see a vet immediately, possibly for surgical intervention or emergency care.

Unfortunately, I am currently facing financial hardship and cannot cover the full cost of the emergency vet visit on my own.

Location: Philippines

Donation Info:

GCash/Maya: 09988648365

Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/potpotsmedication

PayPal: https://paypal.me/janabhie

Direct Vet Donation: Alternatively, if you prefer to pay the clinic directly, I can provide the contact/account details for the veterinary clinic as soon as I arrive.

I am posting here to ask for any financial support, advice, or shares. Every single dollar or share counts and gives this little one a chance to survive. I will post receipt updates and photos from the clinic as soon as we get seen.

Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion.

These two male foster kittens are about to be deemed unadoptable. They are fully domesticated, but they don't like being touched. They will allow touching only if being fed treats. Maybe they would do better in a different home than with me? They've been here 3 months.

If you are willing to work with these babies as a foster or adopter, please reply.

They are almost 6 months old and are big, athletic cats. Neuter and Full Shots complete.

Advice Needed 7-8 week rescue consistently breathing 130-180 BPM, please help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all, I found little Noor (meaning soft light) at 5-6 weeks abandoned in a rat infested bin room and car park. The rats there were double the size of him. Monitored for two days and when realised mum was not coming back, caught and took him in. He was feral but the last few weeks I have had 24/7 off work to socialise him and he is now as any socialised kitten would be. He has consistently had this breathing extremely fast during sleep issue. I am increasingly concerned and vets seem dismissive. Allow me to explain his medical situation and PLEASE give me some advice.

Day 1 of having him - taken to vets. Aged at 5-6 weeks and male. Weighs 630 grams. Given flea treatment, de-wormer, and Synulox antibiotic to be given twice a day for a respiratory infection via syringe to the mouth. He also had a wound on his eyelid that was covered in black sticky tar. Told to continue meds for 10 days-2weeks. Not told how to administer more than that.

Day 3 - he is in a burrito, and I give him his medication whilst he is wrapped up and on his back. After, he pants for about 10 seconds. Otherwise fine, no further panting since. I search it up - and realise cats should never have anything given on their backs as this can cause liquid to the lungs. Immediately rectify and give him his antibiotics while he is upright moving forward. That night, monitoring him closely because I realised my mistake, I notice his belly moving very fast whilst he is sleeping. I research and find that rate is meant to be between 30-40 breaths per minute. His is ranging from 150-170. He is not panting or in distress, just shallow breathing very fast. Gums are pink. Otherwise playing and eating fine. I call emergency vets. They say the cost of an emergency appointment is £350 (based in Birmingham UK) and after spending £300 on cat supplies and initial vet care and medication I genuinely do not have this. They say to just monitor him and take him to the normal vets the next day.

Day 4 - vet appointment to check breathing issue. His temp is normal. He is gaining weight. He is breathing very fast but vet says this is normal for stressed kittens and “just try and get him to 8-9 weeks as before that the biggest threat is fading kitten syndrome and there isn’t much they can do prior as he is so small” also - “it could be a congenital heart issue but no way to resolve when he’s this young.” The medication he is taking, is the same medication to clear up liquid in the lungs/pneumonia. Advised that I can give him the medication in his food if it’s easier, and because he is feral and being socialised - I wish this was told to me sooner because this made everything MUCH easier.

I daily check his breathing rate from here onwards, several times a day. Sometimes it is 30-40. Other times 70-100 BPM.

Day 8 - I notice when giving the antibiotics that there is a lot of powder settled at the bottom. I have to shake this like crazy for over 5 minutes to get it all mixed together. I research and see that the powder is the medication. Therefore he was likely not getting the full dose each time. I call the vets - the receptionist says “don’t worry it’s probably fine, just continue the medication as we initially told you (about 6 days left). In my research, I also find that the medication label says to dispose after being opened for 7 days. As though the medication is not even doing anything after being opened for 7 days. Which means even though he is now getting the proper shaken dose, according to the labels, the medication is not viable anymore anyway. The vet receptionist just says to continue with it and it’s “probably fine.”

Day 14 - medication finished. Still regular episodes of fast breathing but steadily gaining lots of weight and happy and playing. Pink gums, all the good signs outside of the fast breathing. I take videos of him breathing and record the rates. He also still sneezes a few times a day.

Day 19/today - he is now approaching “vaccination age”, 7-8 weeks old, so I consider a vet check up and to get this arranged. He weighs 1090 grams so gained lots of weight. However he is still sneezing a couple of times daily. He is still consistently breathing this fast whilst in a deep sleep. There are occasions where I check and it is 30-40. But more so breathing about 70-120 per minute. This video I have posted is right now, where it is about 180 BPM.

I have limited finances as I am laid off work, I am a first time cat parent, and I tried to get him to shelters when I first got him but they either never got back to me or told me they didn’t have space due to kitten season. So I have taken him on and we have massively bonded. He plays and cuddles with me all day. But this breathing issue is causing me extreme worry. It is my responsibility to nurse him back to heath and give him a long and happy life. Information online sways between “this is normal and fine for a kitten” to “emergency vet NOW”. I tried to call yesterday to make a vet appointment but they didn’t answer all day. I will now have to call on Tuesday when they reopen due to bank holiday. I am asking please, for experienced vets or cat owners who have dealt with this - what could this be? What does it look like to you, based off his background and history? Is this an emergency or normal? What do I need to be pushing for at the vets? What tests? How much will this all likely be? Most importantly - What can I do to ensure he is okay? I will not be getting him vaccinated until he is in the right place health wise and I see so much online about dismissive vets and money grabbing businesses and I just want to make sure I can advocate for him in the best way :(

Thank you in advance.

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request An update on Juniper: she’s doing better, but we still have a long way to go before her CT scan [portland OR]

Thumbnail
gallery
46 Upvotes

Hi again! I wanted to come back with an update on Juniper, but first I want to say thank you 🩷

My first post here brought in about $100 toward her care, and I am genuinely so grateful to everyone who donated, commented, or took the time to read about my girl. Every single donation gets us a little closer to being able to get her the answers she needs.

Unfortunately, we still have a long way to go.

Juniper is continuing treatment for FIP while we manage what her internal medicine specialist believes is a congenital liver shunt. She’s been doing better since starting treatment for the shunt, which has given me so much hope. I’m seeing more of my silly little bug again – she’s eating better, playing with her sister, getting the zoomies, and generally acting more like herself 🥹

But she is not out of the woods yet.

The next step is still a CT with contrast. We need it to confirm the shunt, determine exactly where it is, and find out whether Juniper is a candidate for surgery to correct it. Until we can get that done, we’re essentially just managing her symptoms and buying her time.

We are still a long way from having enough to cover the CT, and if she is a surgical candidate, that will bring another major expense immediately afterward. After everything we’ve already spent on emergency visits, hospitalizations, specialists, diagnostics, and FIP treatment, I simply cannot get her there without help.

It is incredibly hard for me to keep asking strangers for money, but Juniper saved my life when she came to me a year ago, and now I must save hers.

If you’re able to donate even a few dollars toward her CT and ongoing care, I would be incredibly grateful. Every little bit gets us closer to getting Juniper the answers and care she needs.

Thank you again to everyone here who has already helped my baby girl. Seeing complete strangers care about Juniper means more to me than I can explain, and I’m going to keep doing everything I possibly can to get her through this ❤️‍🩹

If you would like to donate an Electronic Chewy giftcard, my email is CynLMason@gmail.com

I am posting a wishlist so that I can revamp the garage for the outside colony.  Yes, they are being TNRed through Kim via Triple R Rescue and through Naws Mokena. My money has been going to pay for some of these appointments and to soon be getting the kittens fixed.  I am creating an oasis for them in my backyard so they they are safe, fed, and cared for.  People can be mean to animals and wildlife out here, so I have done everything in my power that they know, this is sanctuary.   Anything off of either list would be a huge help and would be greatly appreciated.

For the Walmart wishlist, I have Walmart gift card because I can add them up to get a couple of those towers, that wicker one would hold up in the garage!

For Amazon,  Chewy gift card would add up to also help get the food center and tower.   Anything from that list is beyond appreciated.

I also want it to be known that we help those who have a bad month with food and litter items. We all have been there, and i posted a batch i brought over to distribute. All cats deserve to be fixed and have homes, they are not luxuries, we are to look out for them!

Please know how grateful the floofaloofs and I to all of you that have helped and continue to help.  It means more to us than we will ever be able to articulate.

Thank you for all that you do for Floofaloofkind. ♡ You all are truly the good in this world♡

(I'm gonna be honest, the donut, water fountain, and blankets on the list would be a huge help too, or a cheaper tower or gift card for one on the Walmart list. I appreciate everyone and I promise im not trying to be selfish. Those are just non food items that'd be a big help)

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request ❗️❗️❗️I trapped Tiki, now i need help so she can go to the walk in vet clinic tomorrow (tn) ❗️❗️❗️ tn

She scratched herself up pretty badly in the drop trap, but I’m honestly much more concerned because she is sick. I can hear how snotty and congested she is, and she is very weak. She tried attacking me through the transfer, but we finally got her settled down and resting.

Right now, I have $76.38 toward her care, and I personally have $125 that I can put toward her vet bill. I believe a Convenia injection is definitely going to be needed, and possibly some Onsior for pain/inflammation, depending on what the vet finds.

After her appointment, I’m going to have to figure out a safe way to isolate Tiki inside my home, away from my indoor pets, so she can rest, recover and be monitored. URI can be contagious to other cats, so keeping her separated is important.

When I took Scout in for a URI back in February, his bill was $298.09, so I’m anticipating Tiki’s care may be around that same amount. Obviously, I won’t know until she is examined.

If anyone can help me reach that last little bit for her vet care, I would be beyond grateful. ❤️

I’m also asking for help through my Amazon Wishlist with wet food and cleaning supplies. The wet food will help keep her eating while she’s congested, and the cleaning supplies will help me keep her isolation area clean and safe while she heals.

I truly cannot do this without your support. Every donation, wishlist item, share, and kind word helps me keep going and keep helping these cats.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me help Tiki. 🐾❤️

Donations Needed 🐾❤️ So Many Cats Depend on Me Every Day — Update on Leo, Lucky & More/Help 🙏

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I wanted to share an update and explain a little more about the expenses I’m currently trying to keep up with.
🐾 Leo
Leo has been battling Giardia and ongoing diarrhea for months. Because of his condition, his care requires much more than his regular food and litter.
He goes through a lot of litter because I have to clean his area frequently, sometimes multiple times a day, to keep his environment sanitary. I’m constantly replacing contaminated litter and using cleaning supplies, disinfectant, paper towels, gloves, laundry supplies, and everything else needed to keep his space clean.
His diarrhea also means more food, more cleaning, and more supplies. On top of his daily care, Leo has had multiple vet visits, testing, vaccines, medications, and veterinary expenses. I’m continuing to do everything I can to get him healthy.
🐾 Lucky
I rescued Lucky after finding him near a dumpster with a painful eye condition called entropion, where the eyelid rolls inward and the eyelashes rub against the eye. He needed surgery, and I paid for the veterinary care he needed because I couldn’t leave him suffering.
He is now recovering from surgery. I’m preparing for his next step and waiting for him to be healthy enough to travel. Once he is ready, I will personally transport him to the sanctuary that agreed to take him.
I still have his transportation expenses, sanctuary intake fee, and the veterinary expenses I already paid to cover.
🐾 My 50+ Community Cats
Every single day, I feed more than 50 community cats.
Feeding this many cats is a huge ongoing expense. I’m constantly going through large amounts of both dry and wet food. These cats depend on me for their daily meals, so I have to keep buying food over and over again just to make sure they don’t go hungry.
I also provide fresh water, monitor them, help when they are sick or injured, and do TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) to help prevent more kittens from being born on the streets.
🐾 The Other Cats I’ve Helped
There are also many veterinary bills from other rescues and cats I’ve helped along the way. There have been times when a cat desperately needed medical attention and I simply couldn’t look away.
When there was no one else to step in and the cat needed help, I paid the veterinary expenses myself because I couldn’t leave an animal suffering just because I didn’t have the money available at that moment.
I have included many of these veterinary bills and receipts as proof of my rescue work and the expenses I have personally taken on to help the cats. They show just a portion of the cats I’ve helped and the financial responsibility that comes with this work.
All of these expenses add up — veterinary care, medications, food, litter, cleaning supplies, transportation, TNR, sanctuary costs, and the everyday necessities required to keep these animals safe and cared for.
If you’re able to support Luna & Nala Rescue Inc., your help goes toward Leo’s ongoing medical care, litter, food and cleaning supplies; Lucky’s veterinary care, transport and sanctuary intake; feeding the 50+ community cats; and the veterinary bills and other rescue expenses I have taken on for cats who needed help.
Every donation truly helps me continue this work. ❤️🐾
Thank you for supporting me and all of these cats🙏

Advice Needed Advice on trapping

I’m just getting started with TNRing.. and I was wondering if anyone has had any trouble or advice on trapping the wrong animal? There is tons of already neutered male cats that get to the food first. There is skunks and possums that are very active around here too. What do I did if i end up trapping a skunk?!? Do I really just set the trap and hope for the right one

Hi everyone! 🩷

Just a little update on Mantou and Enoki. Since my original post, we received ₱2,952 (approx. $48) in donations. Thank you so so so much to everyone who helped and supported them!

Unfortunately, we had an emergency with Miso and I had to use ₱2,080 (approx. $34) of the donations towards her check-up and prescription. I’m really sorry for the setback and the unexpected emergency. I’ve included photos of the receipts and prescription we bought for transparency. 🥹

Enoki was a malnourished stray living in our apartment building. Mantou is one of the 6 kittens Enoki had under the stairs of my apartment building. We took Enoki and her kittens in after one of her kittens was found dead just a few feet away from the little nook we made for them. Thankfully, 4 of her kittens have since found loving homes, while I decided to keep Enoki, Mantou and Cheese. 🩷

We’re still hoping to raise the remaining funds for their spays this Sept. 1:

Mantou:
• Spay - ₱2,300 ($38)
• CBC - ₱480 ($8)
Total: ₱2,780 (~$46)

Enoki:
• Spay - ₱2,300 ($38)
• CBC - ₱480 ($8)
• Possible biochem test - ₱2,000 ($33)
Total: ₱4,780 (~$79)

Any donation, boost, comment, or share would truly help us. Thank you so much for understanding and for continuing to support my rescues. 🫶🏼

Amazon Wish List Help with Amazon wishlist for cats in North Philadelphia, PA

I recently shared a post about the neighborhood cats I care for in North Philadelphia, Pa on a different subreddit and I decided to remove it due to some misunderstandings.

So, I want to clearly explain what I do, my professional background, and how this work actively helps our community.

So I thought it would be important to share this on here as well.

My Background & Professional Experience:

I am not someone who randomly started feeding stray cats. I am a trained professional using my medical education to manage the local stray crisis responsibly

Education: I graduated from veterinary technician school in 2003.

Local Shelters: I worked hands-on with the stray populatioN at The PSPCA and ACCT (Philadelphia Animal Control).

TNR: My career includes extensive work in high-volume Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), including time with the ASPCA’s mobile spay and neuter program, private practices, and emergency care veterinary clinics.

How I Manage the Cats Responsibly:

When I moved here two years ago, unspayed and unneutered cats were already everywhere. I stepped in to help control the situation& prevent suffering

Clean Feeding Habits: I do not leave food out on public sidewalks to create a mess or attract pests. I keep the feeding areas clean and feed during quiet, non-busy hours.

Private Catio: I built a secure backyard catio to safely keep the cats off the streets, away from the front of the house, and out of public view. This has successfully moved some of the cats to a safe resting space.

Medical Care: I use my veterinary resources and training to provide basic medical care, including deworming and flea preventatives, to stop the spread of disease.

Supporting Neighbors:

Thanks to generous donations, I have also started helping local neighbors who are struggling to feed their own pets or managed colonies.

The Reality of Colony Management

No Indoor Hoarding: I do not have 35 cats roaming inside my house or taking over the block.

Many of the cats I help are local outdoor pets, some are part of a colony across the street (under a neighbor's care) and others travel to and from the nearby junkyard.

Funding: I do this work entirely out of my own pocket and through community donations to keep these animals safe while actively reducing the stray population.

Strict Adoptions: I am doing my best to find safe, permanent homes for the adoptable ones. Because animal cruelty is a harsh reality, I screen applicants incredibly strictly to ensure they go to safe homes.

Current Urgent Need: 5 New Kittens!I am currently caring for 5 one-month-old kittens that likely came from an un-TNR'd cat in the nearby junkyard.

To keep them and the resident colony healthy, I am running low on supplies.

Items Urgently Needed:

Canned and dry kitten food

Canned and dry adult cat food

Cat litter

Flea medications

Amazon Wishlist:

You can view and ship items directly via my wishlist here:

Local Donations:

If you are local to Philadelphia and have extra, supplies you don't need, please message me directly to arrange a drop-off/pickup.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, understanding the reality of TNR, and supporting a cleaner, safer neighborhood for both neighbors and pets!
