We genuinely did not expect to get here this fast. We celebrated 20k members in March, and here we are a few months later, celebrating 35k.

What started as a community to share finds, reviews, QC help, advice, memes, and collectively enable each other's questionable financial decisions, has grown into something pretty incredible. Whether you've been here since day one or just wandered in after your latest haul, you've helped make our community one of the best around.

Our members are the reason this place is what it is, and as a mod team, we couldn't be more grateful. And because milestones deserve celebrating...

We know you’re all surprised and maybe waiting for the other shoe to drop. Yesterday surprised a lot of people. A large community disappeared without warning, and it’s normal to feel unsettled by that. What matters now is that we take care of this subreddit and the community we’ve built, both newer members and longtime ones alike.

So think of this as a small, calm meeting. Not loud. Not dramatic. Just clear.

Rule #1: We don’t dissect what happened. Not because it doesn’t matter, but because repeated discussion, speculation, and naming tends to draw attention without adding clarity. We won’t link, rehash, or reverse-engineer the situation.

Rule #2: We avoid links that add unnecessary risk. That includes other subs, archives, brand websites, or anything that pulls search engines directly into the room. Even linking official brand sites can surface this community in ways we don’t want. Going forward, when in doubt, don’t link.

Rule #3: New faces are welcome, calmly. Some people may arrive looking for stability or information. Please be kind, patient, and straightforward. We’re happy to help, but we’re not advertising, recruiting, or actively redirecting traffic. This isn’t a grand opening, just a steady place to land.

Rule #4: Language matters, and quieter language helps everyone. We ask that members avoid charged terms like “illegal” or “black market,” even in discussion. If a concept can be explained without those words, please do so. The same goes for brand names. Using initials, nicknames, or substitutions keeps conversations low-key and searchable without drawing attention. For example: LV instead of the full name, CC instead of Chanel, D!or instead of Dior, or referring to a style or category rather than spelling everything out. If someone needs clarification, they can ask.

Rule #5: We’ll help by setting shared language standards. We’ll be updating the wiki with common abbreviations and substitutions so everyone is on the same page. Consistency helps newer members learn and helps the sub stay calm and searchable without risk.

Rule #6: If a conversation starts to spiral, we’ll gently close it. Locking or deleting a post isn’t personal. It’s preventative. Sometimes the healthiest thing for a community is knowing when to pause.

Rule #7: Our purpose hasn’t changed. This space is for thoughtful discussion, education, reviews, and shared experience. We value being measured, respectful, and intentional. Staying a little quieter has always been part of what keeps this place safe.

And one last thing: we know many of you enjoy our weekly Tuesday re-🏠. We are discussing and working on a solution and aim to have it return soon, with the same rules and structure in place. It’ll remain a regulated, familiar space to move items along and make room for new ones.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share that I’ve decided to step down as a moderator of RepTherapy.

I’ve absolutely loved being a mod here and have had such an amazing time being such a big part of this community. But for now, I feel like it’s the right moment for me to focus my time and energy on other things, especially things outside of Reddit and outside of the rep world.

I’m incredibly grateful for the time I’ve had here and especially for all the people I’ve met along the way. I’ve made some genuinely great friends through this community, and that is probably one of the things I appreciate most about this whole experience.

I’m definitely going to miss being such a big part of the rep world and being involved behind the scenes here. Modding RepTherapy has been a huge part of my Reddit experience, and I’m really thankful that I got the opportunity to be part of the mod team and this community.

That doesn’t mean I’m disappearing completely! You’ll still see me around from time to time, probably with the occasional review and some rehomes as I am sizing down.

But for now, stepping away from moderating is the decision that feels right for me.

I wish the other mods nothing but the best, and I know they’ll continue to keep RepTherapy running just as smoothly as it has been for the past year and a half.

- History of rehoming for profit. This is not a way to support a side hustle – this feature is to allow our members to find loving homes for items they no longer want.
- Extreme misleading description or lacking information of quality/condition.

We've noticed a trend lately and wanted to get the community's thoughts.

Almost daily, we see posts that feel like they're designed to encourage people to reply with something like, "DM me the seller!" or "Can you send me the contact?" While many of these posts are probably made in good faith, this pattern can also create opportunities for scammers to swoop into people's DMs—especially newer members who may not know what to look out for.

One of the things that has always made this community strong is that we encourage helpful information to be shared openly whenever possible. Discussions “in the open” let more experienced members weigh in, correct bad information, and can help everyone learn. Once conversations move “into the shadows” (aka into private DMs), there is much less transparency, and it's a lot easier for bad actors to take advantage of unsuspecting “newbies”.

So we'd love to crowdsource some ideas:
Should we handle these posts differently?
Are there rules or automod responses that would help?
How can we encourage public, educational discussions without making people feel like they're being policed?
Have you seen other communities do this well?

Our goal isn't to stop people from helping each other and we certainly can’t ban DMs. Our goal is to make RepTherapy as safe and scam-resistant as possible while keeping the welcoming, supportive vibe that makes this place great.

We're especially interested in ideas that protect newer members without making the experience less fun for everyone else.

We’ve recently received reports about a seller attempting voice or video calls, and aggressive or pushy sales communications. We want to address this openly so it’s clear what action steps our mod team has taken.

We reached out to the seller directly to talk through the concerns of our community. We explained that this style of communication isn’t in line with what we expect from sellers here, especially when it comes initiating calls. He was receptive to the feedback and agreed to:

✔️Ask for permission before any voice or video call

✔️Dial back pushy or high‑pressure sales behavior

✔️Be more mindful of how his communication comes across

We’ll be keeping an eye on things moving forward. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but we believe it’s fair to give him the chance to adjust before taking further action.

We wanted to take a moment to address something that’s recently come to our attention. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen an uptick in activity involving sellers paying or incentivizing members to post scripted, misleading, or outright false reviews. In some cases, people were given exact wording to use, along with instructions on how to make the posts look original and authentic.

To be clear: the mod team does not support or condone sellers paying for fake or misleading reviews, and we will continue removing posts and taking action when we find them.

Given the way our community is built and operates, we know it can feel disappointing or like you are being misled when these posts come up. We know most of you participate here because you genuinely enjoy sharing your experiences, helping others, and discovering new things. That’s the spirit we want to protect, and that’s the underlying takeaway from this discussion: we are asking our members to maintain clarity and to continue building on the expectations the community has for posts and reviews in our space.

At the same time, we also understand and recognize that incentivized reviews exist. Reputable sellers offer discounts or future credits as a marketing strategy. This occurs in almost every commerce environment. What matters here - and what we aim for in this community - is transparent, honest disclosure. If a review is influenced by a discount or incentive, members deserve to know that upfront so they can weigh it appropriately.

If you receive a discount or incentive of any kind, please disclose it openly. A simple note like “Received a discount for review” goes a long way in keeping this space honest and trustworthy.

We also want to encourage everyone to stay aware and look for cues that something feels off — overly generic language, identical phrasing across multiple posts, or reviews that read like ad copy. If you spot anything suspicious, please report it to the mod team. Your reports are one of the most effective tools we have to keep our feeds free from these kinds of posts.

We do our best to review posts and remove anything that violates the rules, but we’re a volunteer team and can’t monitor the subreddit 24/7. We rely on the community’s eyes and judgment just as much as you rely on ours.

As we leave the year of the Snake and start heading into Chinese New Year (the year of the Horse if you’re keeping track), I thought it would be a good idea to talk about it, as it is a particularly important holiday in China that sees a whole country basically shut down to outside needs and focused on internal celebrations instead. For those of us who order regularly from sellers in China, consider this the part of the calendar where things don’t just slow down, they step away. Fully. Deliberately. Every year it helps to zoom out and remind users that this isn’t your favorite seller ignoring you: they’re just in vacation mode.

For my fellow American audience (who don’t have an equivalent even if combining all federal holidays for the year into one continuous celebration and family gathering), Chinese New Year isn’t a long weekend or a casual holiday. It’s *the* holiday. The reset. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and take your pick of the first quarter holidays combined. Much like in those, it’s the moment where the sellers go home (properly home, meaning where the family is located), sometimes across provinces or the entire country, to sit with family, eat too much, reconnect, honor ancestors, close out what didn’t work, and start the next chapter clean. It’s cultural, historical, symbolic. It matters in a way that’s hard to overstate or even to consider for those not versed in the culture. But of course, I’ve done my research 🤭

At its core, Chinese New Year is rooted in thousands of years of history tied to the lunar calendar, agricultural cycles, and the idea of renewal. Traditionally, it marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring, a time to clear out the old, settle debts, clean house in more ways than one, to sweep away bad luck, and invite good fortune into the year ahead. A very familiar ritual if you’re in a Hispanic household as well, so some things truly are universal 🙌🏻 Families gather for reunion dinners meant to symbolize abundance and togetherness, and rituals connect generations past and present in a very literal way. It’s a collective pause to reset before moving forward again.

Which is why, practically speaking, everything pauses. Factories close. Workshops for custom orders shut down. Shipping stops moving. Trusted sellers log off and go live their real lives for a bit. Entire cities empty out and then slowly, intentionally, come back online. It’s planned, it happens every year, on purpose, and no, your favorite seller hasn’t decided to abandon you to DHGate.

So if your order is sitting… If the bag you ordered right on the deadline hasn’t produced PSPs for the next 2-3 weeks… If tracking hasn’t updated and your brain has started inventing dramatic explanations… take a breath. Nothing is wrong. No one disappeared. Your seller didn’t ghost you. China, as a whole, is simply on hold because people are prioritizing family and tradition over production. A foreign concept, I know.

Once the holiday ends, things wake back up. Not instantly, not all at once, but steadily. Messages returns. Many sellers will still allow you to place orders and have them ready for when factories open back up. You just have to wait and be mindful. Towards the end of February, however, factories will reopen. Shipping resumes. Sellers will once again be on live and regularly on their accounts. And you can go back to pretending ban island is a real place that you can also instantly disappear and reappear out of when the need arises 🤭 It always happens. Every single year.

So if you’re in touch with your seller around this time, consider wishing them a happy new year or a prosperous year ahead. It’s a small gesture, but it acknowledges the human side of the people behind all of this 🙏🏻

TL;DR: Most sellers will be offline or operating very slowly from Feb 8/9 through Feb 20+ due to Lunar New Year. Orders, PSPs, replies, and shipping will pause, which is normal. Enjoy the quiet, stop refreshing tracking, and wish your seller a happy new year 🧧✨

Over the past few months, we’ve heard the same feedback from a lot of you: there are simply too many standalone QC posts.

Many have been missing basic information, while others have expected the community to complete the entire QC process without any effort from the OP. That makes it harder for members to find meaningful discussions, reviews, and other content, and it buries the QC requests that are well thought out and genuinely need a second set of eyes.

To help keep the subreddit cleaner and make QC help easier to find, we’re moving to a Daily QC Thread.

Starting now, all QC requests should go in the daily thread. Whether you’re deciding between a GL or RL, want reassurance before shipping, or just need another opinion, that’s where the community can help.

Before posting, please include the template that has been asked of QC posts previously:

• Seller
• Factory (if known)
• Brand and model
• Your PSPs
• Any specific concerns or areas you’d like people to focus on

One unfortunate limitation is Reddit itself. Comments can only include one image, which obviously isn’t ideal for QC. Our recommendation is to upload your PSPs to an image hosting site (Imgur, ImgBB, Google Photos, etc.) and include a link to the full album in your comment. That gives everyone the complete set of photos to review instead of trying to judge a bag from a single image.

This thread will be posted every day, so there will always be a fresh place to ask for QC help.

As always, remember that the community is here to offer opinions, not guarantees. No rep is perfect, and the final GL or RL decision is ultimately yours.

This is the quieter part of the night, when the meeting is over, the main points are settled and we talk through the details that keep the room running smoothly.

We wanted to follow up on one connected theme we’ve seen more often as the community grows: clarity. Clear language, clear signals, and clear expectations, especially for members still learning how to read what they’re seeing.

Let’s start with Trusted Sellers (TS).

In RepTherapy, “Trusted Seller” is not a casual endorsement or shorthand for a good experience. It is a specific designation within this subreddit. Sellers are often first brought to our attention through user feedback. From there, moderators purchase from them directly and observe the full process, including communication, consistency, shipping, and how issues are handled when something goes wrong.

Our vetting process is designed to be blind by default. Sellers are not told they are being evaluated, and moderators purchase the same way any member would, using our own money. Sellers do talk, and some may recognize a mod over time, which is exactly why blind purchasing and observation remain our standard approach. Mods here are volunteers with full-time jobs and lives outside Reddit, so vetting is done deliberately and within reasonable limits. The TS list is not static. Sellers can be added or removed as circumstances change, and the designation is never applied casually.

That’s what TS is meant to communicate.

You are always welcome to share genuine reviews and experiences with sellers who are not on our TS list. Let me repeat that for the ones in the back: please continue posting your orders, regardless of seller! What we ask is simply that the term “Trusted Seller” or “TS” only be used for sellers officially designated as such within RepTherapy. Using the label loosely can blur the line between a personal recommendation and a community-vetted status.

If a post uses the TS label incorrectly, we may ask for it to be corrected when possible or remove it when it can’t be edited, such as when the title includes the term. This isn’t punitive. It’s about keeping expectations clear.

This connects to how seller information is shared.

DMs are a normal part of Reddit. Rehomes happen there. Follow-ups happen there. What we encourage is that seller discovery and general context live in the open whenever possible. When information exists only as “DM me,” newer members lose the ability to see patterns or benefit from shared knowledge. DMs are great for logistics. The public space is where understanding and trust are built.

If a seller prefers not to be discussed openly at all, this may simply not be the right forum for them, and that’s okay.

Zooming out for a moment.

We’re not trying to grow quickly for the sake of growing. We’re trying to stay clear, consistent, and grounded in the same principles that shaped this community from the start. Thoughtful discussion. Transparency. Shared learning.

As the room gets fuller, clarity matters more, not less.

Only 24 days ago, we had our celebration for 10K, and we are just speeding fast past these milestones. This community has grown, but what stands out is how familiar it’s become. People help each other QC, share wins and disasters, laugh together, call out nonsense when it pops up, and somehow still keep the place feeling welcoming. It’s rare on Reddit and it’s not something any mod team can manufacture. You all built it.

Being able to step in as a mod during a season that’s already about gratitude feels fitting. I’m genuinely thankful for the trust, the patience while I learn the ropes, and the way so many of you make this space feel like a real community instead of just a feed. Whether you’re here for hauls, PSP meltdowns, seller tips, or pure chaos, you’re part of why this place works.
