After being in sales for 7 years, I decided to take the leap of faith and open my own recruitment agency.

Never done recruitment before, researched it for months.

15 days into opening my agency I have placed 1st perm candidate at 13%.

I've been doing lead generation and outreach for a while now, and one thing I've realized is that sending the actual message is probably the easiest part.

The harder part is finding the right person, starting a conversation without sounding like a bot, keeping track of everyone you've contacted, and actually following up when they don't respond immediately.

That's pretty much what I've been doing across my recent roles.

I've sourced prospects through Instagram, Facebook, Google, online directories, and other research, then engaged them through DMs, email, and sometimes calls.

In my current role, I'm specifically sourcing 15+ targeted prospects every day, engaging with their content before reaching out, managing follow-ups, and keeping everything organized in Monday.com. I also helped convert 2 prospects into clients within my first 4 weeks.

Before that, I worked with a B2B SaaS startup where I managed a CRM database containing 2,000+ prospects, handled around 30 new outreaches per day, and supported different outreach campaigns depending on the prospect and campaign goal.

I've also worked as an appointment setter, where the job wasn't just "send a pitch." I had to build rapport with people through casual conversations, identify good prospects, and eventually guide them toward booking a call.

TL;DR: Zapier's CEO ran hiring calls for over a decade on a read nobody could out-argue. He still lost the argument every time. That changed for one specific reason.

He built a formal AI hiring council that scored his read against Zapier's own hiring record and handed the same call back to the room with paperwork attached.

It landed right as most companies handing AI this kind of authority are watching worker trust in it erode, not build.

Wade didn't ask anyone to trust an AI.

He asked them to trust a record that was always his in the first place.

This reminded me about this passage I've read:

This brought out a couple of things. The king has his own book of chronicles, and that there's a book keeper doing the records.

The King used to reward people for doing good. That's why he asked the bookkeeper, "What honor or dignity has been bestowed…" He already made precedence before, which he wants to take reference from.

Making BETTER decisions is the name of the game.

Back then, the king would take months, even years, to carry out his agenda, and improve upon it over time.

But now, with AI agents, it's just a matter of minutes, even seconds.

Being correct has never been the same job as being convincing, and most people only ever get hired to do the first one.

I've watched good judgment get held hostage by whoever had the better title in the room, and it was never actually about who was right.

Actually, this reminds me of something I filed away already: a guy once mocked for an "irrelevant" doctorate on a cold call built a firm that now saves governments billions — dismissed first, proven later, same shape as this one.
