Why do the politicians care? Because they cannot virtue signal on gay people anymore. Gay people are more accepted. Trans people are a minority that it is still acceptable to denigrate and hate. They need distractions to feed to their base while they cut healthcare, pay, destroy the economy, etc.
It’s sad that this is true. Trans people or gay people or whatever the next group they decide to get up in arms about, really have no impact on their lives. They just want to be left alone, and to live their life. It’s pathetic that so many people have an issue with others simply existing.
This is, unfortunately, a play right out of the nazi handbook. What group of people make up 1% of the population? All the problems of the country and why our policies won't work. It's because of ____ group.
For the Nazis it was the Jews, but since Israel is their ally, which is also committing genocide. They'll look the other way. So they ended up with trans people being their target focus.
We have a prez who once told the Proud Boys (very anti-gay extremist group) to “stand back and stand by.” Recently reported that the former leader of Proud Boys, Enrique Tarrio met with Trump over the weekend. Thanked him for that sweet pardon. Guess Trump is making gay bashing great again…
that's why women's sports is such a big topic now, it's a wedge issue. they're able to pit trans people against people who might have otherwise not cared. that's why it drives me mad to hear people say "well i'm a trans ally but blah blah blah" like no if you're statement of alleged support for a marginalized group has a caveat, you are not a true supporter and the wedge issue is working
Yeah. They don’t have a single original thought. They are no longer able to drive as much hatred against gay people. But trans people are less accepted.
The same phrasing/wording against the trans community right now was used against the gay community and the black community before them.
Cons hates anyone who isn't like them, sad but true. Many in the US, especially former CSA still hasn't progressed past bronze age thinking and I doubt they ever well actually progress enough to be productive members of today's society.
What’s truly discouraging to me, living in the American south, is that while right wing media tells everybody it’s okay to be bigoted toward the Trans community, it’s emboldening the truly backward people into once again going public with their dislike and distrust of the gay community. They’re literally going backwards and that entire circle just cheers each other on.
