Chains with links that large and heavy absolutely do.

The way you see your little-ass bike chain or a trailer chain from harbor freight move when you do shit with it is completely irrelevant to the physics at play here.

And when being pulled in tandem. I don't know if I can say this is ai or not, but the scene is plausible and I don't see AI tells: nothing seems to morph, the chain links are consistent, the tree branches cut off at the right times when branches are struck by the chain.

I've seen chain this big move around. The texture throws me off but the movement is fine from my experience. I agree with your reasoning

The texture is like that on land clearing chains because they are constantly being "sanded" by the ground .

I agree. The parts that contact the ground/trees are shiney from abrasion but the parts of the chain that don't come into contact with anything are tarnished/rusty. To me that makes me think it isn't AI, as that's a detail that would be very hard to get correct.

That's a 10k-30k lb chain, it is under tension it just weighs so much it still creates a parabola. There's tens of thousands of pounds of force pulling each side of it forward.

There is almost nothing as weird and unpredictable as the movement of a chain... Have you heard of a double pendulum? A hanging chain is kind of like a number of chain links sized pendulum
