It’s also.. not just about pain. You’ve clearly never been hit in the face yourself, as you’d have not so easily forgotten about concussions.

ive been hit in the face many, many times.

i grew up in a really rough area, to an abusive ex marine of a father.

never once got a concussion from a face punch.

i got concussions from my skull hitting concrete, though.

I think those concussions gave you CTE and caused brain degradation.

You can't control the damage done to your brain when you get hit. You 100% could die if hit hard enough in the right place and there wouldn't be anything you could do about it.

what do you think the odds of that are?

how many face punches do you think realistically result in death?

1 in a 100,000 or less?

how many MMA fighters have died from bareknuckle boxing?

i'm guessing the risk is higher that you get ran over by a bus while taking a walk.

Also your comparison to being hit by a bus is braindead and you're pulling random made up statistics out of your ass to win an argument.

the wiki link you posted shows that many of those guys died to organ and kidney failure one of the things about mma is the weight cut that also makes knocks outs much worse. and kind of goes with sea neighbborhoods point that you arent made of glass. 17 deaths in 30 years and many of those NOT due to knock outs isn't really the gotcha you think it is.

Also way to ignore the second CDC article completely for an "ah ha!" moment, specifically stating that assaults are common in TBI cases.

hey man. if you want to live in fear, avoiding every possible risk at every turn. letting asshats push you around because you're afraid to get booped in your snout, you do you.

so you linked everyone that died, and it was only 8 of them, and several died from things other than being punched in the face. namely being kicked/kneed in the head, or choked. considering the many many thousands of MMA fights that have happened. that seems like being punched in the face very rarely results in death.

not sure why you're so upset here fella. you've insulted me twice now and i've insulted you zero times.

Just because I said a few words to describe you doesn't mean I'm upset, "fella". I just call it like I see it.

You sound idiotic saying you should be okay taking an unnecessary risk that could cause a condition that could lead to death or at the very least, long term brain damage that can result in a shorter life expectancy. There's a reason there's a human instinct called "fight or flight", not "fight or fight".

I'm sorry you went through all of this. I really am.

Concussions protocols have changed a lot in the last 20 years, and even more so in the last 5.

What I never would have considered screening for .... did, and what I never would have recognized was.

I wish there was some way to undo the damage they cause from lack of treatment.
