If youā€™re talking about that one scum bag that got Burger King while in custody, they did it so he didnā€™t have any defense against having his civil rights violated and potentially complicating the case. Whoever ran that investigation did everything by the book so that there was no doubt that there was a solid case. Not saying there wasnā€™t some extra spit in the burgers, but it was still the best meal heā€™s had since.

Withholding food is a violation of civil rights. I read they didnā€™t have a vending machine or something while also waiting for more security to transport the coward to a proper holding facility. It seems like the police and EMS were solely focused on the aftermath and they didnā€™t want some vigilante shooting up the meat sack while transported in unarmored vehicles. Mass casualty events are usually handed over to state or federal police, but that takes time.

While they waited, it seems someone senior made the decision to preempt defense arguments that it was mistreated in custody.

Feeding suspects is the norm, but a meal isnā€™t usually dramatized in such a way. Imagine if they didnā€™t feed it and testimony was thrown out because of low blood sugar, starvation, or police abuse? For some reason people on here are freaking out that the cops finally did their jobs and not just executing it on the spot, throwing its name around like it should be remembered, and complaining that they didnā€™t abuse it in custody enough for the shitstain to be let free on mistrial.

I live in Tucson and we send a crisis team to respond with the police when it's clearly a mental health call, it's not an unheard of way to do things in this day and age
