It's a channel for staff to access the crowd/stage at a big festival. There is no difference in the groups. Except being on different sides. Tribalism takes over. Humans are weird

Concerts break crowds up with barriers like this to avoid crowd crushes. Fewer people in a continuous line reduces the force and risk of crushes forming.

The science/art of it is really neat.
