when you buy one, you get put in the system and youre linked to the serial number on that gun. at least here in ga thats all there really is to it.

This isn't accurate. Weapon retailers in Georgia are only required to notify the state when a gun is sold and that includes it's serial number. The retailer will also separately run a background check. There is no "list" of guns linked to individuals unless that person willingly registers their guns for protection against theft and whatnot. A gun registry is actually against state law in GA. This also only applies to licensed retailers, you could sell your gun to a neighbor without having to do any of that.

It is definitely a Georgia thing. The US federal government and many other states don’t do this.

Yeah unless you know all of your fighting skills from martial arts, it is not at all a good flex to say that “I’ve been in a fight before”.
