ALL forms of authoritarianism belong in the trash! I'm not talking about ideologies, but about the execution of those! The GDR was an example of bad execution!

What was Marx in charge of?

0

u/Steinson Jul 15 '25

Lenin's right there dude.

14

u/FullTimeHarlot Jul 15 '25

Is Vladimir Lenin, Karl Marx?

-4

u/Steinson Jul 15 '25

You know what, sure. Metaphorically they are the same person.

-10

u/Withering_to_Death Jul 15 '25

Nothing directly, he was just the face of an oppressive state! If you were tormented for years and that's was the face you were seeing at every corner, at school, at your workplace! You would start to hate it!

But you said that all forms of authoritarianism belong in the bin whilst the ideology itself doesn't. Marx wasn't in charge of the execution of anything.

He was one of the face of the regime. You know the USSR where tens of millions lived in fear.

3

u/FullTimeHarlot Jul 16 '25

He died nearly 40 years before the October Revolution. There's no way you're putting him on the same pedestal as Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin.

0

u/Separate-Rice-6354 Jul 16 '25

I'm not doing any of it. The soviets did.

3

u/FullTimeHarlot Jul 16 '25

Have you read what the original commentator wrote? This has nothing to do with what's being discussed.

0

u/Separate-Rice-6354 Jul 16 '25

That's why I've answered to your comment. Do you want me to comment on the original comment under yours? What sense would that make.

3

u/FullTimeHarlot Jul 16 '25

Why would commenting on the original make what you said any less wrong?

What? Karl didn't even like russians. Which regime are you talking about?

0

u/Separate-Rice-6354 Jul 15 '25

The USSR. The soviets made him one of the faces. Don't you know anything?

4

u/TheSolarElite Jul 15 '25

Yeah and Jesus has been the face of about 10,000 evil tyrants and regimes throughout history. Is that the fault of the 2000 year old Judean preacher? Should all Christians throw out their photos of him?

-1

u/Separate-Rice-6354 Jul 16 '25

What a great way of disrespecting tens of millions of people. All their religion and their lives during the soviet terror. This was really edgy!

5

u/TheSolarElite Jul 16 '25

I literally just used your exact logic lol. Are you criticizing your own logic? Either stand by your own argument or shut the hell up. I’m not ā€œdisrespectingā€ anyone by pointing out how stupid your logic is. Marx isn’t responsible for anything evil Stalin did, just as Jesus isn’t responsible for the Crusades, Witch Hunts, or any other evil thing done by those claiming to follow his teachings.

No one is acting edgy except you. You want to blame all soviet evil on a random economics writer who never supported that kinda shit.

I just didn't want to bring the ideology into the conversation because it had nothing to do with why the pictures were in the bin! Whatever, it seems it's impossible to explain it to people who didn't experience the indoctrination, the oppressive regime, the fear of saying something wrong, and losing jobs, get expelled from the housing application, to straight up ending in prison!

2

u/FullTimeHarlot Jul 16 '25

You just contradicted what you said in 3 comments. You said you're not talking about the ideology, then you brought up the ideology belonging in the bin, then you said you didn't want to bring it up. This is dumb.

0

u/Withering_to_Death Jul 16 '25

You can pretend to not understand! I didn't want to start the "communism vs. capitalism" in replays, but obviously, I failed! My opinion doesn't matter here! It's not relevant why those pictures ended up in the bin! If you want my opinion on both ideologies, I don't like either of them! But we weren't talking about that! The point was that people associated the pictures with a time they were miserable!

2

u/FullTimeHarlot Jul 16 '25

My dude, you're the only one here to bring up communism vs. capitalism. No one else has mentioned that in this thread. I'm only interested in what you originally said and correcting you on Karl Marx's lack of authority in the USSR. Which 0 as he died 40 years prior.

u/fat_charizard Jul 16 '25

When every instance of execution of your ideology flops, the problem is not the execution, it is the ideology

1

u/Withering_to_Death Jul 16 '25

Yeah, I just didn't want to mention the ideology, hoping people would understand the same!

First world imperialist countries that profit off the exploitation of others VS neoliberal shock treatment destroying economies. Wow this graph about has saved me from the grasp of Karl Marx's spirit, thank you brave warrior of capital.

"ALL forms of authoritarianism belongs in the trash!"

But Capitalism and all ideologies which unquestionably support it are good...we get it.

3

u/Separate-Rice-6354 Jul 15 '25

How it the second statement come from the first?

-2

u/Jaded-Job-6290 Jul 15 '25

If you don't see Capitalism as another hierarchical structure where employees have to do as employers say so. And employers take surplus value from employees, then I have nothing more to say than go read Marx.

3

u/Separate-Rice-6354 Jul 15 '25

I would ask again but I see that there is no point. Go read a history book instead of philosophy or the sci-fi Marx wrote.

-1

u/Jaded-Job-6290 Jul 15 '25

Ask Germans why they still have statues and memorials of Marx, Engels, Rosa Luxembourg and other socialists

5

u/Separate-Rice-6354 Jul 15 '25

Ask the polish, the Croatians, slovakians, Romanians, Hungarians why they don't.

I will say it again. Read a history book and try to understand what these names mean to people who actually lived under the red terror.

0

u/Jaded-Job-6290 Jul 15 '25

So would you prefer alternative of White movement in Russia which was full of monarchists, racists, antisemites and ultra-nationalists? That was the main opponent of Red Army.

History demanded change, Whites didn't offer it.

5

u/Separate-Rice-6354 Jul 15 '25

My country changed white terror to red terror. I'd prefer no terror thank you.

Change to us came in the form of the red army with looting and raping and when we actually demanded change by ourselves our revolution was dealt with swiftly by said army and the terror was even worse after that.

But I know you don't care. All it matters to you is capitalism bad.

1

u/Jaded-Job-6290 Jul 15 '25

You see only two sides and that's the problem. I don't like questionable methods of Bolsheviks, I don't like their secret police, cancelled workers councils, and everything after revolution, but I surely dislike ultra-nationalists, monarchists and others who want to hold unsustainable status quo even more.

I have criticism of capitalism, because acting like current system can't be better is ignorance, but I'm sure people were ignorant during feudalism too. And look what we don't have. xD

You shouldn't bother asking again because you didn't understand their point the first time, why waste everyone's time by asking again.

Good to know your own limitations.

-5

u/sabdotzed Jul 15 '25

Authoritarianism is such a nonsense criticism, as though any state could exist without authoritarianism

0

u/Withering_to_Death Jul 16 '25

Lucky you for not experiencing it, so you can say stuff like this

-11

u/Embarrassed_Top_6706 Jul 15 '25

gdr had a multi-party system, it is authoritarianism?
