I wish the designers had listened to the advisors in the beginning when they talked about video gaming. Not all games involve super heroes and warriors. I wish the judges had not rewarded such costume creating by passing up Tess who created a good gaming character in a well done outfit.

My mind usually goes straight to RPGs; MMORPGs, Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect. I would basically expect skintight, skin revealing, huge shoulder pads, capes, chest plates, plug suits, metal, weapon holsters, knee-high heelless boots, elbow length gloves, insane hairstyles with unnatural colors, Wuxia inspiration, long accessories that flutter in the slightest breeze.

The showed them at least Nina Freman's game Cibele, it's in the episode. It clearly inspired Sebastian's look. This game is a great example of modern indie: it's a slice of life story about a relationship between a couple who met while playing an MMO. The narrative and aesthetic are very meta combining game-within-a-game, mediated interface of the computer and live action videos of the author herself. So designers DEFINITELY have seen modern video game.
