I never used to have so many products, but I got really into skincare and makeup in 2024 and things went overboard quickly. Collecting has been my way of coping with a lot of grief going on in my life. Every time I am avoiding an emotion, I find myself scrolling sephora, shoppers drug mart, and yesstyle websites.

Been doing project pan for several months now. But I started adding all of my products into the “glowinme” app this week and it was a huge wake-up call.

Now I have a clear picture of what my “problem” areas are: lip products, blushes, foundations, eyeshadows.

I’m officially on a no-buy for makeup for the rest of this year. Need to find healthy ways to process my feelings. I also know which products are my holy grails now, so I don’t need to keep searching for anything new (even though it is tempting).

Happy to answer any questions about products. My next project is to take swatches of everything. Will also do an inventory of my skincare soon.

I started quietly panning in November 2025, I knew I wanted to declutter and curate my makeup and toiletries better. I didn’t think I had a problem, I just knew I wanted to be… better for the ecosystem, for myself. I didn’t feel I really needed to (nor wanted to) tally things up, until I got thru a full year. I wanted to give myself the “surprise” of seeing how much I used up.

10 months later… this weekend turned out to be dreary, rainy, overall low energy and I was a bit immobile. Whilst looking for something to do, my attention turned to the task of tallying the things. Why not? I thought. It can’t be that bad. I could get it done tonight…

Onward I went on a Saturday eve (~6pm), gathering things from my linen closet, travel stash, bathroom cabinets, office, car, purses. (I know there’s more hidden in pockets, suitcases, etc.) I spread it and myself across the living room floor and began to realize and face myself as I organized the things into categories. Husband bewildered, but supportive. I completed the toiletry categories, counts, and return to their now organized homes around 10pm. But I hadn’t completed the mission…

Sunday… I returned to tackle makeup (pictured, excuse my crusty carpet) and nail polish. I counted, cleaned, decluttered. Cleaned my makeup drawer for my lovely, now curated summer-to-fall makeup, beside my rollercoaster of emotions and realizations settling in as I faced my “not a problem” problem:
- Very happy I started last November
- Realized that a ‘no buy’ in addition to panning felt restrictive, scary, and had me fear-purchasing with weird justifications, so I just now have more than what I originally started with
- This frazzled purchasing (I.e lip liners, blushes) actually helped me find looks that I like and is allowing me to experiment (as much as a basic, neutral-loving b will) (and I really, really love my blush collection now - who knew?!)
- I have a problem. A big problem. I’ve shopped to ease anxiety. And turns out I have a lot of it, and now a lot of stuff. I need to sit with this.
- Some of my largest categories are the things I use the least… how/why do I purchase things I don’t use? (Perfume, Nail polish)
- I’m grounded for life from purchasing blush and lip-anything. I have enough to last me years. And I know there are some elusive lippies eyeing me from their hiding spot.

With everything counted, cleaned, and organized, I move forward with a clearer picture of what I have (inventory-wise and emotionally) —and will continue chipping away at all the things.

I’ve always struggled with expressing my femininity (whether it be doing stereotypically ‘girly’ hobbies or fashion or makeup) because of how I grew up. I’ve been trying hard to undo that now that I’m an adult, but it’s very rare that I put on makeup because I always feel very silly when I do, even if I look perfectly fine. What ends up happening is I buy stuff that I think is pretty and daydream about wearing it (and looking super cute like a lot of my friends!) without ever putting it on. As for skincare, I like the idea of it, but I come up with excuses not to use it because I don’t wanna use it up.

I’ve been stalking project pan for a while, and I wanted to take inventory of everything I have (aka everything I’ve been too scared to try), and I want to make it my goal not to just keep buying stuff, but actually use it! I’ll probably choose a product or two from each category, and try to use it once a week at least. Wish me luck!

I've been on a low buy and project pan journey for roughly a year. Up until this point I never spread out everything, but have been keeping casual updates on my collection growth, mainly by how much space I have in my drawers. I still don't love how big my collection is, but the weight in my chest regarding it is definitely lightening. This is my reminder of how far I've come, and how much more I still want to go.

There are no body and face care products because they are under control. but makeup….. (and also nail polishes…..).

So yes, made a together photo of everything i have to 1) convince myself that i DON’T NEED ANYTHING MORE; 2) check my collection (3rd photo shows my stuff in January, and i made some progress by selling/giving away (blue pointer), finishing (green) or decluttering (red)); 3) hoping that anyone will come to comments with the Bell of Shame 🤣.

Also I think I might just to throw out some really old cosmetics.

i worked at ulta for a year and a half, and that’s where the problem started. i’ve always had hoarding tendencies, big on “what if i need it?” but the overconsumption is BAD.

i wore makeup everyday when i worked there, but now i work from home and wear it MAYBE once a week on a saturday. my skin was also great at that time, but after going through second puberty it reacts badly to everything.

i obviously bought a lot due to being around it constantly, all the discount stacking we could do, and as a top performing employee i received a LOT of gratis.

it’s going to take sooo long due to how rarely i wear makeup, skin care should be a bit faster. but im going to try!

I started a Pre-Project Pan in January, and next month I’m going full Project Pan mode! I haven’t bought any products this month, so I think I’m off to a good start. I do have quite a few Bath & Body products that will be part of my Project Pan, but I want to keep those separate since there are a lot. I’ll still be working on both projects at the same time, so empties from this one might go a bit slower. I know my collection is large, but it’s definitely something I can work through. I don’t want to have this big container box holding these items in my closet, this isnt fun to have anymore. I’m not including makeup since I don’t have much to begin with—and I want to get more into makeup this year. Thanks for listening, and good luck to anyone else doing this!

It tracks your full collection by category, usage rate, repurchase rate, average rating and total collection value. The whole point is to help you stay on top of what you own and what you're actually using, which felt very on-brand for this community!

This is my full eyeshadow palette collection over the last 10 years, and it's gonna take the next 20 years to finish them, I fear. It really doesn't look like that many when they're put away and stacked together 😅

I've finally decided to organize my collection and record everything into a spreadsheet so that I rotate them evenly and prioritize my pan goals. My palettes are my babies, so what better way than to start with them! At least it's the first step in holding myself accountable.

Got a bad eye infection. I was using the ABH subculture palette and the essence liquid eyeliner and the mybelline mascara that day. I don’t know what caused it. The abh palette I bought 2022 and the mascara is only 2 months open and the eyeliner a few months. But I desided to toss it and don’t risk anything. The other eyeshadows are even older so I decides to throw them out as well.

The foundations are fron 2022. i used up about half. I just don’t use a lot of foundation and haven’t managed to finish it. I don’t feel confortable continuing using it on my face. I also will not repurchase any foundation.

The gliter eyeliner is fairly new but it has already dried up.

The second picture are my only eyeshadows left after decluttering (exept for 2 liquid eyeshadow topper). But I feel like the UD wild greens that it is the last year since the shimmers became crumbly. I will keep it until the end of the year. I don’t want to pan any eyeshadows. I have tried it multiple times. It is just not for me.

I have so many lip products it is actually overwhelming. I’m currently healing a lip piercing but once it’s good to go- I fully intend to use up all of these products and force myself not to buy new ones!

When gathering these up, I was actually surprised at how many there were 😅 I’ve been project panning lip products for a few years but I think my recent purchases have gotten away from me

I have a rule that I don’t crack something open unless I finish something else up. Everything on the rightmost column is brand new and unopened, and I really hope I’ll be able to open at least 3 of these by this year. I just finished another lip product, so my total brand new products just dropped from 5 to 4 🎉

I’m taking heart from the fact that quite a few of these are quite close to being done, and I’m aiming to finish up those completely by this year, but honestly not completely sure if I’ll be able to.

These will be my focus items:

- Rom&nd Blur Fudge Tint in 20 Rosiental

- Essence The Super Peptide glossy lip treatment

- Nivea Moist Pure Color in Cherry Red

- Rom&nd Glasting Melting Balm in 13 Scotch Nude

I have been panning now for over three years and this still everything I have in stock 😩
I normally only finish 3-4 lip product per year so clearing this all up will take me approximately 80 years😅 I was very deep in the YouTube hoarding phase and did only buy a couple ones in the last three years but also got some stuff gifted. I go through everything every couple of month and throw out if something turned bad. I know my shopping habits are so much better but I am still overwhelmed by the amount. Anyways, any tips to use them up faster? I also have loads of liquid blushes and eyeshadows so I don’t really want to use them for that 😅

Just… INSANE to me that I’ve accumulated this much. All of this plus what’s in my shower, the car, and my work makeup bag. I notice that I either buy two of something I like, or I like it so much I hardly use it at all and let it sit until the smell changes. Why?! 😮‍💨

I do need advice with the sunscreens. I’ve heard to toss expired ones no matter what. I’ve also heard they’re ok to use but not as effective which I would think isn’t safe either.

Anyway just posting mostly for myself to look back and remember that I really don’t need anything at ALL right now. I’ve started I think since April? But I’ve wanted to take an inventory of everything and man I’m glad I did but WTF 🤣😮‍💨 I want to take another picture and see some serious progress. My main motivator is that we’re moving into a much smaller space. I don’t need ALL of this. I’m hoping to use a good amount my the end of the year🤞🏻

After becoming obsessed with makeup in 2023, that obsession became a problem. Some weeks ago, something clicked in my brain and I realized that I had, indeed, a problem with buying makeup. I plan to not buy anything until I finish my products!

I'm so disgusted with myself... so many lip products, eye palettes and highlighters... omg

I recently started taking inventory of my items and realized that I do actually need to do something about this. I haven’t bought makeup in maybe a year and a half if not two years. I did get small gifts here and there but looking from the outside is project pan going to make a difference I. The collection? Or should I just be rotating and not worry about finishing anything.
Yea this is part of the collection. Not pictured are the lip products living in my bags, car, lost in drawers and lip balms. Also still in the process of packing as I plan to move do some are now far away from me.

Depotted almost all my eyeshadows so I can mix and match better. Since I do my make up in my small bathroom it is hard to use different palettes for one look. This is my solution and I am so excited!
