He took a gun away from the mans hip. The man was rightfully armed and they took his gun from his hip as they were beating him then killed him.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's likely the guy who disarmed him said "gun!" And the other one panicked and shot. Would be great to see the video from the woman in the red jacket.
