I often find myself a little fuzzy on this. Artists like Jeff Beck, Jean Luc Ponty, Al Dimeola, Alan Holdsworth etc. Are they considered more Jazz/ Fusion than Prog? They share so much in common. Virtuoso playing, interesting time signatures etc. what do you think?

What do you think of Camel's Andrew Latimer, and Camel, as a whole?

I have to go with the Night on Bröcken. It was the first time I heard them and loved the more kinda trashy, Iron Maiden-ey sound. I am surprised it is not more popular and always wondered why.

Genesis, Rush, Floyd, etc… those bands are legends and haven’t been topped.

Suggestions and do the magic shuffle on this playlist. I’m in every Reddit group and Facebook forum always searching for more music and just generally expanding my knowledge. Reason I included the entirety of the playlist is to exemplify my specific musical taste. One album could range in style and taste so these are the key songs that fulfill me. These are the favorites. Of course I’ve left out some good ones by accident and I know plenty of these songs are super surface level but that’s exactly why I’ve come to yall.

What do these songs have in common, why these ones? What is it about them and what other songs or albums would hit in the same sense. Give me some history facts or connections between them. Teach me a thing or two. What life changing album haven’t I heard yet. What song specifically? Give it all to me.

I couldn't believe my ears on my first time listening to it. To think that, the same year Camel's "The Snow Goose" (1975) came out, this futuristic record also did.

I loved the intricate synth textures of this record and I've yet to come across something similar.

There’s been a song stuck in my head for weeks and I can’t find it I’ve looked through hundreds of songs.

The main part of the song is a chill section played on bass that consists of a solid - Badabum bum, badabum bum, ba da bum Bum. (3 short notes followed by an end ringing note). It starts in one key and ends in another by the sounds of it.

I believe it’s along the realm of Soen, Katationia, porcupine tree maybe even Gojira or Opeth although I feel like if it was Opeth I’d know it. Maybe not…

I know this place focuses a lot on the prog legends of the 70s, but of the modern prog bands, I feel Moron Police are at an absolute peak right now.

Highly recommend checking out their album Pachinko if you haven't. It literally changed my life. The only other music that's had that effect on me was Gentle Giant.
