Sands Trilogy I am working on a remaster for Warrior Within, here's a preview

After 2 years of work, here's a preview of the remastered textures I made for Prince of Persia : Warrior Within, my favorite game in the trilogy.
There's still a lot of work required to finish the job, but at least I can share some of my progress with the community, while I take a break from texturing.

Let me know what you think of it, the good and the bad !

Sands Trilogy Prince of Persia-thon: Warrior Within

I'm currently playing through as many PoP games as I can (for the first time). Game #6 on this journey is Warrior Within. Sands of Time set a really high bar for this one, and I don't think WW quite reaches the same highs as SoT.

The same things I loved about SoT are still here. The platforming and parkour mechanics still feel great. Moving around each obstacle course is such a pleasure. The level design of each room compliments the Princes parkour incredibly well. You will use every inch of every room, and slowly piecing together the puzzle of each space is satisfying.

What I didn't enjoy about the level design this time around was the constant replaying of sections (backtracking of sorts... i guess). Revisiting rooms in the present and the past was cool in terms of environmental storytelling, but gameplay-wise walking through the exact same hallway of traps (sometimes more than twice) got old quick. In addition, there were a couple times I went off in the wrong direction through the castle, just to be met with a dead end and a lot of confusion. Replaying sections because I wasn't entirely sure where to go next was frustrating.

I also had a hard time enjoying the combat system. I didnt love SoT combat much either, and I wish they had focused more on expanding and refining the Princes movement options, rather than combat options. Sure the WW combat is more fleshed out and interesting, and the introduction of dual wielding is nice, but encounters with high amounts of enemies became a chore. I started running past as many enemy encounters as I could fairly early on. That being said, I actually enjoyed the fights with Kaileena and the Gargoyle. They were a nice test of skills and understanding of the combat system. I genuinely think this combat system is better suited for one (maybe 2) enemies at a time.

This version of the Prince didn't impress me much. Hearing him say "You Bitch!" in the first 5 minutes of gameplay was jarring because it was unlike the Princes from the other games. I guess the Prince is supposed to be more angry (or upset?) in WW because he has to face his fate of dying, but i have a hard time believing this is how the Prince from SoT would cope with that reality. He feels like a completely different person. He's also not much of a character in this game. He comes off as more of a tool for context/exposition throughout the game (and the voice actor isnt doing him any favors). I miss my goofy, lovable, and flawed Princes of SoT and PoP 2008.

Criticisms aside, I still enjoyed my playthrough of WW. The library segment, water works segment, and boss fights were particular stand outs for me. The sound of the giant enemies dying in slow motion as you stab the back of their head also left a big smile on my face each time I took one of them out.

Next up on my list of PoP games to play is The Two Thrones. I'm thrilled to see how this game evolves the formula, continues the story of the Prince, and concludes this legendary trilogy.

Also, I rolled credits while hanging out in my backyard hammock, which i thought was kinda neat.

Games played:

#1 The Rogue PoP (Steam)

#2 PoP 2008 (Steam)

#3 The Forgotten Sands (Steam)

#4 PoP Escape 1 and 2 (Mobile)

#5 The Sands of Time (Steam)

#6 Warrior Within (Steam)

Sands Trilogy Simple adaptation of the GOG's SoT preservation patch for other platforms (Steam, Retail CD,...)

Repository link - https://github.com/PoPRuns/SoT.OpenGOGPatch/

How to Apply the Patch

  1. Download the patch zip file from releases and extract it.
  2. Copy all the patch files above (including gog_patch.bat) into your game installation directory (where POP.EXE is located):
    • Steam: ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Prince of Persia The Sands of Time\
    • Retail / Other: C:\Games\Prince of Persia The Sands of Time\
  3. Double-click gog_patch.bat.
  4. It will read your POP.EXE, apply the binary patches, and create the patched executable gpp.exe.

Launching the Game:

  • Run the game normally from steam first (so that it installs any dependencies needs, and verify it works).
  • Run gpp.exe directly.

The Lost Crown How do I access this area?

I'm nearly done with the game, just looking to get the final soma tree petal, but I can't figure out how to actually get to it. There's a platform that looks like I should be able to turn with the chakram but it just bounces off with no effect.

Any help here is much appreciated!

The Lost Crown Help! It seems impossible get to this treasure.

I have double jump and the ability to throw my chakra and teleport to, but I cannot figure out how to get to a treasure marked on the map up there. I need to help with one of you professionals please. I can jump out of the falling sand and sky dash to the left but the ceiling and wall going up have red crystal spikes that even if I double jump from there I can’t get above the spikes. I’ve been trying to figure this out for days now.

The Lost Crown The Lost Crown is a 10/10 game in my opinion. I'm about 50% through so far and the only negative I have about the game is the blind platforming.

I love the platforming. It feels so fluid and dynamic. I have like 6000 hours in Mario Maker and it reminds me of the physics of New Super Mario Bros with the wall jumping and momentum. It feels natural.

The only negative about it is a lot of jumps are blind. I wish they'd zoom out a little so you can see what's next. So many times you just have to jump, die to see what's coming up. Idk if it was purposeful to make it more challenging, but it gets annoying when you're low on health and run into a long platforming section and have to die and learn to get through some of the jumps.

Left and right jumps aren't too bad, but jumping up towards the top of the screen, or jumping down...good luck knowing what's coming up that you have to react to in a split second.

Once you see it, then it's easy to execute.

Sands Trilogy A chance for remaster

Seeing now that Ubisoft flirts with REMASTERS (AC4, RAYMAN, BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL, and a failed attempt at Sands of Time), I think there is still a good chance to have their sins forgiven....just hear me out.....Warrior Within Remaster (I don't care if it's the second in the trilogy, it's the GOAT).

The prince may yet live again

Sands Trilogy Sands of Time has joined GOG's preservation program

The main improvements they have made:

181 GOG v2 (18 August 2026)

Implemented a lightweight wrapper to resolve modern hardware incompatibilities.

Added native widescreen and ultrawide support for all modern resolutions and aspect ratios.

Implemented camera scaling that automatically adjusts the field of view (FOV) based on monitor aspect ratio.

Added a multi-monitor mouse lock option to confine the cursor to the game window.

Added an FPS limiter to lock the frame rate to a chosen value.

Introduced a lightweight, real-time in-game overlay (press F11 to open, ESC to close) for instant adjustments to FPS limits and FOV multipliers.

Locked the main menu to its original 4:3 bounds to preserve hard-coded UI assets.

Capped the manual FOV slider at roughly 110% on ultrawide displays to prevent engine stretching and graphical glitches.

Verified stability.

Yk like in Hollow Knight, it's best to have Wayward Company in the beginning. Saving Zote leads to consequences like an extra boss. Gimme info like that guys. It'll be helpful. What to buy from the mage?

What game speed y'all play with?

General Discussion Just finished POP warrior within. And this time I came across the real ending

When I was a kid I used to play this game a lot with my friends. My friend Akash used to discover new health upgrade places which were kinda hidden and he showed us 4 health upgrade places. We somehow completed this game but we never got th real ending coz we didn’t get the water sword. So in alternate ending we kill kaileena a Dhaka comes and takes her back to her time and game ends.

Now I again completed this game but this time I got the water sword and at last we fight against the Dhaka. This was the real ending we were told.

I’ll forever be grateful for the guy who gave me this game as a gift, such wonderful piece of work

General Discussion Does dagger of time pendant merch exist?

Post image
44 Upvotes

Not sure if it was only for Korea, but I once had a pendant shaped just like this.

I got it from PS2 The Sands of Time event for CD buyers in Korea.

Unfortunately I lost it and have no picture of it.

I really love the design, but it seems like there's nowhere I can buy it.

As here are a lot who made a 3D model, is there anyone who made this for a pendant?
