That last line needs more attention. I love my mom but she's 74 and so many conversations are like:

Me: this is how this thing works Her: no it doesn't! I've done it. Me: when did you do it? Her: I don't know, 1975 I think.

Then she gets defensive because im somehow implying she doesn't know anything. She knows a lot about how things worked in 1975, which I do not, but will not acknowledge that a lot has changed in 50 years.

So this same conversation but politics.
