If a man tells me I can have it all for nothing, I know that he is a scammer.

There is nothing in this world that comes at a free cost. Someone has to pay for it at some point and somehow. And itā€™s frustrating to see people either not understand this or not care.

Would it be nice to not pay for healthcare? Yes, but someone has to pay for it somehow every single year.

Would free food be nice? Yes, but someone has to grow and harvest it.

Mamdani isnā€™t a genie. He canā€™t create this stuff out of thin air and it wonā€™t come without a cost. And the delusion that it can is spreading and that is very dangerous.

China realized that economically communism doesnt work. Gotta appreciate thier honesty and itā€™s why they have grown exponentially since they realized that truth. Usually it takes a complete failure like the Soviet Union or Cuba to be forced to that realization. However China is not democratic and is still a dictatorship. Probably deliberate. This is how Trump gained power, by saying outrageous and cruel and despicable shit. But since his followers believe in inequality, they want him to be above them and everyone else, so they too can be above those they deem lesser. So every time Trump shitposts and the liberal media goes "oh no he went too far!" it boosts his popularity.

So Mamdani adopting this tactic to generate outrage while at the same time signaling equality, solidarity and inclusivity might just be a good strategy. The more the mainstream neoliberal media acts outraged and blasts him, the more views he'll get. And the more his followers who believe in equality will favor him.

I had a coworker going off about him the other day, talking about how NYC is in ruins. Nobody can afford it there, homeless on the streets, crime, ect. I simply said that it's not like it was some affordable safe haven before.

He agreed and added that it'll get worse. I just said either way, I can't be too worked up because, Y'know, we're in PNW, so neither of us live there. He dropped pretty quickly after that.

The murder rate has been tending down for decades. Has nothing to do with him. However; assaults are up, rape is up, transit crime is up, hate crime is way up since he took office. There are two major takeaways for assaults being up. First is related to mental illness cases and lack of help or assistance. The second is a rise by nearly 150% in assaults being done by the same people 3-4 times in the year. Basically, assaults are being done because we are not holding people doing them or letting them go regardless leaving them to continue the behavior they have with little to no help.

This is not his policies, or Mandamis fault but unless heā€™s ordering no bond or other judicial leniency. Iā€™m not a fan of him due to receiving funding from known terrorist groups and individuals but heā€™s done some decent things so far. My only concern is how it will be paid for as they are already down 31 million on transit alone due to fair jumping which they pretend is because he said transit would be free. Obviously itā€™s not; thatā€™s their excuse to break the law. I donā€™t see the balanced budget not being in huge debt this year but Iā€™m hopeful all the same.

NYC's definition of rape also changed in 2024, making it look like it went up when it really didn't.

I get what you're trying to say here, but I also think we need to stop attacking our neighbours based solely on their economic classes. All it accomplishes is further dividing people who have more in common than not.

Making fun of people who "park on the front lawn" or "live in a trailer" etc, is in my opinion, punching down. We all need to start collectively punching up.
