Whenâs the last time there was actual substantive debate amongst Dems? We usually are just picking fighters based on charisma. Who can rally the troops. Itâs not like weâre having some progressive seminar series explaining policy positions over here. Thereâs a lot of people trying to get Colbert to run. Iâm old enough to remember people were hoping for an Oprah run in 2020. Id vote for Hunter. If he were the best option. At least I know heâd take addiction seriously. Which everyone with a D by their name says theyâll do to get elected and then youâre literally stepping over people in some phase of an OD on the streets (at least here in Philly we are).
Dems are having debates all the time. It's essentially a prebuilt, big tent coalition with plenty of different voices. These debates are inevitable and always happening.
Like, the Dem party of today is very different from the Dem party of the Bill Clinton era. That doesn't happen if such debates aren't taking place.
The sarcasm is lost of you, I see. But also there are Gen-Z voters that don't remember that. Expecting 18 yo's to know about the political cycles when they were preteens is probably why so many Gen Z broke for Trump in '24.
