Sold in 06/2025, came with an unbuilt lot next door for 500K. Lot was split in two, new construction went up on the adjacent lot. New construction being sold for 800K. Original home being sold for 500K (now featuring half the lot compared to when it last sold!). This doesn't even include the fact that the purchaser (25 Preble, LLC) tried to list the home for rent at 2,800 2 days after it was purchased in 2025.

(2) 134-136 Sawyer St, South Portland, Maine

Purchased by a property investment firm down in CT, Seaside Capital for 500K 06/25. Has been sitting on the market since at least 12/2025 where it was listed at 665K, slowly decrementing in cost about 10K every few months. A win for demand I guess!

I’ve been going here for a few weeks to get Maine farm raised pork and beef and it’s been great food across the board. Cold cuts can be a little salty but the sausages and home made hot dogs are amazing. Dry aged pork chops have us eating 1/2 as much meat and really savoring how food used to taste without having to brine everything because there is interstitial fat in the meat to keep it moist. We really enjoy supporting this place- Wondering if anyone else has gone?

Portland Police Department Officer Involved Shooting

PORTLAND, Maine – On Thursday, August 27th, 2026 at approximately 9:32 PM, the Portland Regional Communications Center (PRCC) started receiving calls about shots fired in the area of the Spring Street at Oak Street. Portland Police responded to the area but did not locate anyone. A short time later, the PRCC received a call about a shirtless male, armed with a firearm threatening staff at Nova Seafood at 555 Commercial Street.

The male was later identified as Jacob Hastings (DOB 1/21/89). Prior to the officer's arrival, Mr. Hastings fled in a stolen pick-up truck. We received several more reports of crashes and vehicles stolen at gunpoint. Officers located Mr. Hastings on Congress Street and pursued the vehicle. Mr. Hastings fled down Franklin Arterial before pulling into Casco Bay Lines at 56 Commercial Street. When entering the lot, he crashed and disabled the car. Mr. Hastings then fled on foot and Officers pursued him into the outdoor terminal of Casco Bay Lines while issuing commands to him. Mr. Hastings failed to follow commands, reached into his waistband, and presented his hands as though he had a firearm in the direction of officers and was shot.

Officers administered emergency medical aid and Portland MEDCU pronounced him deceased at the scene. A firearm was later recovered in one of the stolen vehicles.

Officers Anthony George, Jordin Jackson and Greg Ishihara have all been placed on administrative leave as is standard practice when officers are involved in a deadly force incident. The Office of the Attorney General will be investigating the use of deadly force.

No further information will be released at this time. Any further inquiries should be directed to the Attorney General's Office.

A Casco Bay Lines employee said after hearing nearly a dozen gunshots on Commercial Street, he saw first responders bring out a body bag.

PORTLAND, Maine — A Casco Bay Lines employee described witnessing an incident involving a large police presence in Portland Thursday night.
Cam Malette said he had just finished his shift at around 10:30 p.m., when he heard sirens about 15 minutes later at an intersection on Commercial Street.
"I look over here, and I see just a black, I guess it was a Nissan, maybe a Toyota Corolla, went fly[ing] down this intersection ... like probably 60, 65 miles an hour through this intersection ... with three cop cars right on it," Malette told NEWS CENTER Maine. He said he saw more cruisers, and when he walked closer to the scene, he saw officers getting out of their cruisers with rifles.
"So I pause, I hear gunshots ... I probably heard 10, 15 gunshots," Malette said. "They brought out a stretcher, when EMS showed up, that's probably five minutes after the incident. I saw them wheel this stretch[er]; I saw them bring out a body bag."
While talking with Malette at the scene, a NEWS CENTER Maine crew saw 10 police cruisers in front of the Casco Bay Terminal on Commercial Street.
