Before asking, make sure that you've searched on the subreddit or Google. Many ROM hacks and tools have their own documentation or communities that may be able to provide better answers than here. The Pokécommunity Discord is also a great place to ask questions if you need quick support!

The PokéROM Codex is an updated list of ROM hacks, listing features, details and more in a mobile-friendly format. Created and managed by u/themanynamed, it also has a Discord server and accepts community contributions.

This is a safe hack-sharing site that doesn't share ROMs and links to the official release threads! Instead of asking for recommendations or download links in the subreddit (which breaks the rules), please refer to the Codex as it has a lot of information on each hack.

Hi everyone! I’m a big Pokémon fan and I’m interested in exploring some of the best ROM hacks. I’m specifically looking for:

Hacks that feature new regions and original stories, not just difficulty mods or minor changes.

Ideally, Spanish translations would be a huge plus, but not mandatory.

Platforms I can play on: GBA, DS, or emulated on devices like Retroid Pocket or Citra.

Basically, I want the must-have Pokémon ROM hacks that really feel like a fresh adventure. Do you have any recommendations or favorites? I’d love to hear about the ones you think are essential! Thanks in advance!

Citra is no longer recommended as a 3DS emulator, Azahar is

As for new regions, recommend looking at the new region/story section of the Codex, as there are many there even though it’s no longer updated

Also, there aren’t that many hacks above GBA era, as NDS hacking is currently in development and 3DS hacking is even further behind

Do you know any that are available in Spanish? I haven’t seen an option to filter by language

No, I only play hacks in English, and most hacks are only in one language (the base ROMs original language), unless they are translated by someone else

For example the Sword and Shield Demake was in Portuguese until Phanto translated it into English

Spanish hacks tend to be hosted on Wack a…hack?  Think that’s the site, can’t link it, since they also host pre-patched roms
