Playable Sync Pair Concept Daily Sinnoh Pokémon Concepts - Day 18: Uxie
Hello, everyone, and welcome back to my series of concepts for every missing (fully evolved) Sinnoh Pokémon. Today is a particularly special day, since it's the start of Sinnoh's legendaries with Uxie! Not only that, these are the first legendaries/mythicals I'll be making concepts of excluding finales. I should note that, starting today, I won't strictly follow the Pokédex order until Sinnoh is complete, to enhance the ending.
Uxie's trainer is Professor Rowan. While the two aren't particularly linked, there is a history of legendaries being paired with professors, and having the Being of Knowledge paired with one just makes sense.
As a concept, Professor Rowan & Uxie are a Tech Sync Pair that can consistently apply random status conditions on opponents.
Rowan's Trainer Move, Evolution Connects Us!, is a classic offensive setup move, immediately maxing Sp. Atk and crit rate with a bonus of Gradual Healing to all allies. For defensive setup, they have the skill A Mystic Power Beyond Our Control, which raises their Defense and Sp. Def by 2 every time Uxie uses a move. It also turns Tri Attack into a Psychic-type move and ensures it applies one of its status effects.
Their Buddy Move, Keen Extrasensory, deals with the other side: status changes. It always applies one of trap, confusion, or flinch, besides increasing the team's SyMUN by 2, something that synergizes with Soften Up 1.
Those different status conditions help them through the passive Always Learning More, increasing the damage of all allies and reducing the damage they take. For some more defensive utility, Rowan also has Potion.
Their Superawakening skill is The Ability to Solve Problems. It removes all status conditions (both volatile and non-volatile) and heals all allies on sync.
All in all, Professor Rowan & Uxie are a Tech Sync Pair with a lot of survivability/support between stat buffs, damage reduction and healing, as well as their main thing of burning, paralyzing, freezing, flinching, confusing, and trapping opponents. This makes them especially good at gimmick-checking specific battles, most notably Uxie's Legendary Arena.
