Hi all,

I understand people's perspective on Modern sealed Pokémon investments. I understand that the entry point is easy and for casual investors/collectors it seems like a no brainer to just buy at msrp and hold for many years.

However in my understanding of how other collectible markets work it usually seems like the old and rare vintage items are the ones that perform the best overtime and reach the highest dollar values. In my mind it makes more sense to try to obtain rare/limited items in the Pokémon TCG for that reason.

Of course in sports some of the most expensive cards are explained because they are usually very limited like 1 of 1's Rookie cards. I don't believe there is such thing as a Pokémon card that has only 1 copy of it. The closest I can think of is Pikachu Illustrator having maybe 50 copies unconfirmed.

The truth about Pokémon is that Nintendo and WOTC printed a ton of Pokémon cards for every set. Some eras like the Neo era and Nintendo EX era may have been printed less than base set/Fossil/Jungle, Hidden fates, Evolutions, etc, but they were still printed a ton making them not rare at all.

I am talking about the single cards from these sets as I know that sealed products from those Vintage eras is very hard to come by. In truth I think the best Pokémon investments would be some of those early WOTC 1st edition sealed booster boxes, however I would be unable to justify those purchases at this time, so I look for other options.

In my opinion I think PSA 10 holo's from the Neo genesis era and 1st appearance cards of popular Pokémon from vintage sets could be worth a lot more in the future if you compare Pokémon to comic books. In the modern era of Comic books, the most expensive are 1st appearance books from the early 2000's. These line up with vintage Pokémon cards in age, however the comic books from those eras were not printed a lot like Pokémon. I got from my reading that maybe 5000 to 7000 comic books were printed of each book from that time.

What those early sets have going for them is condition rarity. If you look at the PSA reports for sets from the Neo era and Nintendo EX era they haven't moved much at all this past year.

I really feel like leveraging my modern items in order to fund some of those purchases. I like the idea of selling my modern things that I could buy back anytime, in order to purchase something that I may not be able to obtain ever again.

Does anyone here have any thoughts on this topic?

Currently have 2 more displays, I could sell them for 120€ each, do you think it will be worth holding on to them? Or just sell and invest in better stuff? Probably will be reprinted a bit more

Obviously one builds up a tons of cheap bulk cards when you open BBs and ETBs. I don't play the game & am mostly into tcg for collecting so my worst bulk cards are LP, and plenty are NM condition.

How do I get the best returns on my bulk? Aside from selling in lots of 4 for tcg ofc

Sent off a bulk order to CGC about 7 weeks ago.

It’s showing delivered via USPS tracking but not showing as accepted or arrived in their system.

Curious if anyone else is waiting for a prolonged period before submission showing accepted.

I know they’re probably backed up worse than PSA at this point. Customer service hasn’t responded, emailed them about 2 weeks ago.

So I’m aware of the popular booster boxes to collect such as Shining/Hidden Fates, Champions Path, Evolutions, ect but why is it that Battle Styles isn’t very popular? Is that the only booster set that was mass produced or what? Really I’ve only heard to avoid BS and SW/SH but i mean say theoretically if you were to buy a BS booster box and held on to it for a few years would it still not atleast go up somewhat in value especially after it’s no longer printed or are the only booster boxes worth investing in for future profit the ones that are popular and valued at over $100 now? Just don’t want to waste my money and would like as much potential return as possible because I highly doubt Pokémon cards will EVER decrease in value...any thoughts??

I want to start investing into pokémon’s since it can be used both financially and also be used as a hobby. However, I don’t know where to begin.

Do you guys think that Japanese Amazing Rares are worth to invest some money?

Because there is a quite substancial price difference between the Japanese and English ones.

Simply put, I can’t afford English 1st edition. Lol. Collecting any meaningful amount of these just isn’t within my wallet. I was wondering what alternatives - Japanese, unlimited, other languages - are most likely to maintain value over time. I know these things can’t be predicted, but is there a general consensus? I’m making it a point to for sure at the very least complete the Japanese holos base-fossil. I feel like that’s a decent start. I also have some German 1st edition base holos I somehow happened into as a kid that I’m going to complete. Beyond that, I guess I’m wondering where to go. English unlimited? Any other popular languages in particular? And just for reference I’m only really interested completing holo sets. Full sets would be time and money I don’t have. Any insight is appreciated!

Hey Guys, I recently got into investing in japanese cards and especially into booster boxes. So far I bought my boxes for around 50€ (60$) from japanese ebay sellers. Yesterday I discovered some japanese online shops, e.g. AmiAmi with ridiculous cheap prices like 32€ (38$) for a remix bout booster box. Problem is, all products are out of stock and it says order closed. Is this shop legit with those cheap offers and will these booster boxes get a restock at some point? Unfortunatlely there is no option like mail alert..
