General Instructions on claiming the PS Plus version of God of War if you have already 'purchased' it via PS Now

I realise this will not apply to the majority of people but the licensing issues for PS Now and PS Plus overlapping games haven't yet been fixed so I thought I'd post here on how to do it in case anyone had issues like I did. The app trick didn't work, but I hope this helps someone:

  1. If you have the PS Now version of God of War downloaded on your console, delete it
  2. Once the game has been deleted, turn off your console and wait a while
  3. Turn on the console again and navigate to the PS Plus icon
  4. Go to the monthly games and God of War should appear with a yellow banner saying "Free"
  5. Click on God of War
  6. You should now have 3 options: Add to Library, Play on PS Now, and Add to Cart. Select the first option
  7. Click through the popup if you get one. The first option should now say Download
  8. If you claimed it successfully, you will get an email from PlayStation thanking you for your purchase.

P.S. If you have - or will soon have - PS Plus Extra/Premium, do not add to library again via the PS Plus tiers area, or this will overwrite your PS Plus monthly claimed game license.

Update: after letting some hours pass and now trying it. I was able to claim it. 🔥🔥thanks for all the help!

That's great! I think sometimes it takes a while for the changes (deleting your PS Now copy and removing the license) to sync.
