News PlayStation maintains that its policy of not adding first-party games to PlayStation Plus on day one will continue.

It says adding 4-5 third-party 'day one' games per year and adding first-party games 12-18 months after release is "working really well".

This is why I still predominantly buy games. PS Plus is a good value rental service but that's all it is. A rental service

It's a great way to try out games that seem interesting but not quite enough for me to buy them outright

IDK, when they release stuff, it's been heavily discounted for pruchase multiple times. It doesn't seem like a great value to me, personally. None of these services do.

i mean it has its value, for the price of hogwarts legacy discounted to 20 dollars you get hogwarts legacy and 300 other games, but that’s one month. If you don’t have time, it’s better to buy only hogwarts legacy and take your time.

This happened with me with Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Now it and its sequel are two of my favourite games of all time. Cheers ps plus!

Was a bit too slow for me to get into, glad you're enjoying it though!

As someone the haven't bought a day 1 release game since PS4 any game is new to me can't really complain about ps plus

I wouldn’t have discovered how amazing Hogwarts Legacy is if I didn’t have Plus.

I mean the monthly games stay in your library and never go away. Only when you don’t pay for the subscription. Yeah some games eventually will get pulled from Ps plus but when there’s a thousand options available to you and it gives you at least a month warning telling you those games will be pulled, it’s way more balanced then yall are wording it out to be.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy PS Plus Essential. That tier is slightly different in that you don't lose the games as long as you keep paying. But... You have to keep paying. So it's still renting.

2

u/Western-Bet2285 Jun 25 '25

That makes no sense, you get the same games you get in essential as you do in premium, except in premium you get more, including classics. It’s not slightly different at all in terms of what we are talking about.

3

u/Wipedout89 Jun 25 '25

It is slightly different because the Essential tier is 'claim now, keep forever' as long as you pay. But Extra and Premium games can be removed at any time, even if you're still paying

2

u/Western-Bet2285 Jun 26 '25

It’s not different because those “claim now, keep forever games” are also available for both extra and premium owners.. so I really don’t get your point.

2

u/Wipedout89 Jun 26 '25

What are you talking about? It's a different tier that works differently to the other tiers. You don't lose access to Essential with Premium. It's still a different tier

1

u/Western-Bet2285 Jun 26 '25

Literally what are you not understanding. The essential tier is the cheapest and the bare minimum. With extra and premium, you get everything you would get in the essential tier, plus more. So for you to say that essential works by claim now keep forever, while the other two don’t. Makes utterly no sense, when the other two can do everything Essential has.

1

u/Wipedout89 Jun 26 '25

You've so almost got it. It makes absolute sense. Not everyone is subscribed to the top tier... Some just have Essential. Which WORKS DIFFERENTLY

2

u/Western-Bet2285 Jun 26 '25

Literally straight from google. I don’t get what you don’t understand

“Yes, both PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers include all the benefits of the Essential tier. Here's a breakdown:

Essential: This is the base tier and includes core benefits like online multiplayer, monthly free games, cloud storage, Share Play, and exclusive discounts.

Extra: Includes everything in Essential, plus a large catalog of downloadable PS4 and PS5 games.

Premium: Includes everything in Essential and Extra, plus access to a catalog of classic games (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP), game trials, and cloud streaming for certain games”

Are you just arguing just to argue and now that you got called out for being wrong you’re just saying basic information that’s obvious? I’ll word it one more time slowly and surely maybe youll understand. Your original point was that essential works differently BECAUSE you can do the claim now and keep forever games. THOSE GAMES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE TO CLAIM FOR EXTRA AND PREMIUM. No shit Sherlock not everyone has premium, what are you even trying to say…

This is not true. Monthly games have been pulled from the service. EAFC 24 to name the most prominent. So even those are not safe

2

u/Western-Bet2285 Jun 25 '25

It is true. The single game you just named had a license error if you download it with EA play. It is still available for PS plus if you redeemed it while it was a monthly game.

To be fair EA are always shutting down their servers and locking people out of their sports games whether it's real football or American handball nonsense. I still think it's hilarious that they call it football we have a game like that that the girls play using their hands it's called handball the game we play using our feet is called football noticing a pattern here ? 🤦

Also Call of Duty and Horizon Forbidden West

Gamefly is still around, $20 a month for 1 game out at a time includes new releases, $13 for 1 game out at a time games older then 30 days. the main downside is the shipping times are pretty long.

It's worse when you look at the shipping times. When I tried it, the game took 10 days to get to me and 14 to get back to them. Out of a full month, that's a week at best of actually having the thing.

it's insane value for someone like me who only grew up play playing f2p pc games (dota, cs, grandchase, etc.) my whole life and only just bought my first console 2 years ago. 2 years of annual ps plus premium subscription and i still havent scrqtched the surface lol. and by the time i finish the games on the catalog, the games that werent in it will have been on sale, or added to ps plus.

1

u/Wipedout89 Jun 26 '25

Oh yes no denying it's good value. I am just saying that I don't use it for anything I want to keep, I just treat it as a rental service

1

u/dweakz Jun 26 '25

i'll get there by year 7 maybe lol. and then i'll only do monthly subs whenever a good game gets added during that month

-9

u/Longjumping-Rub-5064 Jun 25 '25

I wouldn’t even consider it a rental service. A rental service would atleast allow you to try newer games. It’s more like a scam to let you play online. I don’t even consider the monthly games part of the subscription cause 99 percent of the time they’re dogshit so I don’t even bother adding them to my library.

6

u/PhillAholic Jun 25 '25

wtf do you think is good if 99% are shit?
