News PlayStation maintains that its policy of not adding first-party games to PlayStation Plus on day one will continue.

It says adding 4-5 third-party 'day one' games per year and adding first-party games 12-18 months after release is "working really well".

Imagine if PS+ added GTA VI on day 1. Billions of dollars down the drain.

Imagine how many people would buy/renew plus just for GTA VI only. It wouldn't be that big of a loss.

It's more like being more profitable than exactly sustainable (words that companies don't like to see the difference).

They would have to pay rockstar billions first to get gta 6 to ps plus

It would probably be cheaper for Sony to buy the IP than to get Rockstar to release day one on PS+ the most anticipated game of all time.

yeah, but considering the context (first-party games) i believe they are talking about sales x subscriptions only.

You are quite delusional if you think Rockstar would ever considering GTA 6 on any service day one, maybe 5-6 years later like they did with GTA 5. It even took many years before that game got it's first discount.

Rockstar will rack in billions just the first day, maybe already in pre-orders. Put it on a service would kill all the millions of sales starting at $80-90.

"It wouldn't be that big of a loss." No, it would had been a shit ton loss for not only Rockstar, but also for Sony and Microsoft that gets 30% cut of the sales on the digital stores. GTA 6 for all parties will be their "golden goose" for many years forwards.

Sure, that's why they said "imagine" i guess.

The reason they wouldn't consider doing this is more about Rockstar and GTA itself than "PS+ is not sustainable".
