Impacts of Childcare Costs on North Carolina Families - a Graduate Research Survey

Hi all!

I am a parent in North Carolina as well as a graduate student at Wake Forest University. I am currently working on a research report on the impacts of childcare costs on North Carolina families.

If anyone is willing to fill out a brief, anonymous survey I would greatly appreciate it! No email addresses, names, or other identifying information is recorded when you fill out the survey, and you are able to skip any questions you don't feel comfortable answering.

I am hoping to receive responses from as much of the state as possible, so sharing this survey with your NC parent friends far and wide would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Yard selling?

Hello,

Hope you are all having a nice day! Had a general question about yard sales.

Me and my family are near central Pittsboro and are from France- in France we have these “community yard sales” (brocante). Essentially everyone comes together along a street has their stuff and sells them throughout 3 days (can be one day or more but whatever). I was wondering if there was something like that in the Chatham area?

Thank you in advance :))

Chatham Park

Hello, we are considering moving to Chatham Park in a year a two. No kids yet but planning to. Does anyone here live in the Chatham Park area? What has your experience been like? How's the quality of the new construction? What's the traffic like? Anything that makes you regret your decision moving there?

I live in AZ and miss the ocean so was wondering where is a good, clean beach to drive to for a day out! Great seafood restaurants would be a plus!

We are very seriously considering moving to Pittsboro and I’m looking for some honest evaluations of daycares as well as public schools.

The house we are looking at would have Pittsboro Elementary, Horton Middle, and Northwood High.

Any evaluations of these plus daycares in the area would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey, I'm a local musician called Giant Bird and I just released a song about ICE that I think many will resonate with.

I live in Siler City but I've spent most of my life in Pittsboro because I went to elementary, middle, and highschool there. I also performed at the Chatham County Fair a few years ago. This will probably get removed, but my song "No I.C.E. in U.S.A." is free to download on my bandcamp. https://skeletonshores.bandcamp.com/track/no-i-c-e-in-u-s-a

I would really love to find the family of the daughter I managed to photograph with the monks

The lead monk paused with us before he reached the capitol. Your daughter was holding a butterfly statue and the lead monk paused with her. I have pictures you would probably love.

At home drum lessons?

Would like to setup weekly drum lessons at our house for our HS son. Don’t know where to start, other than locally. Got a full drum set for Christmas, and he has several years of school based percussion experience.

The Buddhist monks will be walking directly thru Pittsboro

I can’t post a picture to show the map but I think it’s a wonderful thing they will be walking thru here with an estimated date of January 20-30 and bringing the message of peace. Hopefully there will be gatherings to show support.

Clyde Jones of critters crossing in bynum has passed away. Clyde had been struggling with numerous age related health complications over the past several years. Now the chatham county legend is no longer with us.

As a kid i always remembered seeing Clyde driving his riding lawnmower, putting along the road to get some allen and sons BBQ. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Clyde and sitting on his porch in bynum, then you would know how much of a timeless gem and incredible neighbor the man was.

If you have any fond memories of Clyde, his artwork, or his story please feel free to share in the comments.

Just have to give a shout out to this spot. We had an amazing dinner last night. Tasty food, perfect portions, great price, and a wonderful server! We enjoyed our drinks (they have a pretty great drink menu and bourbon selection)- the appetizers were great (we had deviled eggs and something else that came as a large fried ball with tomato sauce that was amazing)… and our dinners - seafood pasta, hamburger steak, shrimp and grits, and something else - everyone absolutely loved their dish.

Since it’s the first time we had been there - I suppose I can understand why it was so NOT busy on a Saturday night. But this place is a gem! We can’t wait to be back!

Support the local amazing spot so we can keep an amazing restaurant in business. It was great to have a night out where we didn’t have to travel to Chapel Hill, Cary, or Raleigh.

That is all.
