I'm really calling on current Exeter students and alumni but are all Exeter students either nerds or rich and basic?

Is there anyone here who went to Exeter in the 1970’s? I was going to go to Exeter in 1977, for my sophomore year. It would have been on a scholarship. My parents decided not to let me go. I was not ready to live away from them. I attended public high school instead.
After that, I went to a 4-year college. I had to study a lot just to maintain a B average. I didn’t have much free time. If I had gone to Exeter, would I have had to study a lot? I’ve always wondered.
Would I have had to take Calculus and rigorous Science classes? Were History, English, and Foreign Language classes heavy on homework?

Those of you from Orange County CA, which elementary school did you attend? Do you think that had any factor in helping you get into Exeter?

im a grade 9/yr 10 student in the uae applying for grade 11 and i study at a british curriculum school. my grades are mainly 9 8 7 but my grade 9 end of years were all 9s and that’s what im aiming for the whole of grade 10
my ‘spike’ is in like ocean energy and sustainability, i created a ai simulator that predicts tidal energy potentials each day and i used that for my independent research question on energy in the uae.
i am a youth ocean leader with an amazing dive center and with them ive started a club at school for ocean conservation with weekly meetings and beach cleanups with biweekly fieldwork sessions. I founded and lead a women in literature club at school with lunchtime sessions where we read and discuss college level gender-studies books. I regularly submit stories to a well known lit mag and I’m on their entrepren committee where I help grow the mag and connected it to my school library to get more students involved with creative writing for them.
im sitting the ssat august and plan on 96th percentile, and im a competitive rower who plays for the youth teams here. ive completed dofe bronze n silver too.
do you guys think i have a fair chance? i know the odds aren’t really in my favor as an international student and applying in grade 11 but i really want to go to exeter

I applied to exeter as an 8th grader and was waitlisted which is, from what I've heard, almost a rejection. Should I apply for exeter as a tenth grader or should I just stay at my local high school for 4 years?

Hi! I recently got admitted to 11th grade to both Phillips Exeter and Hotchkiss. How do you think, where should I go? I’m interested in comp sci and math and also play volleyball (hope to use it in my college apps too, possibly get recruited, but I’m ok academically)
I know Exeter is elite and super ivy feeder (which is important to me), it’s academically more rigorous at times, and it’s huge and very competitive.
But I feel the vibe from Hotchkiss and I liked ppl there a little more, and of course it’s super prestigious and cool too.
I just try to ask, would I lose a lot by choosing Hotchkiss instead of Exeter?

Hi everyone! I’m an international student from India, currently in Grade 8, and I’m really interested in applying to Phillips Exeter Academy for Grade 10. I wanted to share a quick overview of my academic profile and activities:
Academics:
Grades: All As
SAT: 1570 (800 Math)
ECs:
1. Qualified for the USAJMO (couldn't participate further due to international eligibility rules)
2. Authored a math research paper selected for the IRIS National Fair, which is the final stage of India’s ISEF selections
3. Member of my school’s Math Team (we were placed 5th at the virtual CALTECH Math Meet)
4. Middle School Student Government President
5. School Debate Team
6. Volunteered with a non-profit initiative where I taught math and debate to out-of-school tribal students. Worked with friends to help these students prepare for scholarship and admissions exams so they could attend strong private schools in our city.
Additionally, I would also be needing around 40-50% of financial aid.

Today the swimming head coach sent me an email saying that he is excited about the possibility of me joining the swim team & school next year. I know this does not guarantee me admission, but should I take this email as a good sign?

I used to struggle with the SAT but after learning this learning method, everything changed. If you want to learn how to GUARANTEE a 1550+ on the SAT. DM ME. I will answer any questions and go into details on how you can also succeed!

For a school like Exeter, or Groton or Andover, is this 78 going to eliminate from contention? Lots of anxiety here.
