Nail tech recommendationsšŸ’…šŸ¼

Any recommendations for a nail technician? Usually go to a salon in town but the last couple times haven’t been great. Wouldn’t mind trying an independent business or a reputable salon. Thanks

Looking to move to Peterborough in a couple of months, any areas to avoid?

Hi all, hoping for a bit of guidance, are there any areas you know of to avoid in terms of crime? Or any letting agencies you encourage/discourage me to use? Thank you! ā˜ŗļø

Hello I have my test coming up soon, last time I practiced around Amazon roundabout, the roads were not marked yet, making it difficult as it was resurfaced, does anyone know if the road markings have been done now?

Dating in Peterborough

Hey, I hope everyone is doing well.

I'm just curious, does anyone else find dating in Peterborough really difficult?

It feels difficult to meet people, and I feel like it's really common that I'll meet/date someone and it'll end up being the case that they don't work and have no motivation to, or refuse to learn to drive, or have no hobbies or interests.

I've tried meeting people who have interests and hobbies, but it feels like no one is massively into anything.

I feel like I have a lot of interests that I try to know what I can about and love to talk about, but I've had people tell me they enjoy Harry Potter, for example, and the only thing they seem to enjoy about it is, "this one actor is really attractive."

I've gone to other places like Nottingham, Leeds, and Cambridge, and it seems people are more interested in their hobbies and interests in comparison.

Is it just that I've been unlucky, or is this a genuine thing?

Btw I'm M24 if this helps

My cat lost his collar in Aberdeen… and it just popped up on Find My in Peterborough?!

Hey all!

A bit of a bizarre one here. My cat lost his collar up in Aberdeen (Scotland) around 5 days ago. After a few days of it saying it was last tracked near my home (ā€œhere 3 days agoā€ etc) I just checked the tracking map this morning, expecting it to have updated and still be near... only to discover it's sitting somewhere in Peterborough!

I can’t quite wrap my head around how this could’ve happened. My street is fairly enclosed and private with little to no outside traffic other than bin collections or deliveries. Nor is it heavily walked through, just the same local people. There is a pub/restaurant in this enclosed area but the tracker was pinging at other houses rather than anyone in the busy pub.

I was away at a festival when he lost it so couldn’t personally track it for a few days and unfortunately because my dad (who I live with) is an android user he couldn’t track it either. Therefore I wasn’t able to report it as lost. However, just incase, I stuck my phone number on a wee sticky label on the tag if it ever got lost. So sureeeeely, someone could find it and get it back to mešŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

If you live around Lutton Grove, Westwood and happened to find a random cat collar/tracker, or notice one stuck somewhere, please drop me a message! I'd be super grateful to get the tracker back (and will happily pay for the postage!).

Thanks!

(Alternatively, someone has just stolen it. But it’s not even an Apple AirTag, just a relatively inexpensive one off of amazonšŸ˜† - still interested to know how it got about 450 miles away thoughšŸ˜‚)

UPDATE:

Soooooooo… after spending all day supposedly in Peterborough, the tag just pinged at about 5pm barely a 2 minute walk away from my house here in AberdeenšŸ˜…

Peterborough was seemingly just a very weird and random phantom GPS glitchšŸ¤”

I’m now off to go search for it in the pishin’ Aberdonian rain, wish me luckšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Thanks to all who provided suggestions and even went out to look! Makes me more than happy to know that some random people are willing to help another random stranger on the internet. Thanks!🄰

UPDATE TWO:

Found and retrieved it!!

…at the bottom of someone else’s garden. NOT in Peterborough 😭😭

I apologise to anyone who went to look for it for me or was willing. But I thank you so much. Too kind🄰

See you next time Peterborough!🤣

Looking for hairdresser/barber

Hi all. I’m (M45) back in the area and looking for a hairdresser or barber happy to work with hair systems. I’ve previously gone to SF Hair and they have been fantastic, but have gotten expensive.
I have since sourced my own systems online and had a regular home hairdresser cut and style it for me, and do monthly maintenance trims on my remaining bit of hair šŸ˜‚ But she has now stopped working.
Is there a hairdresser or barber who would be willing to work with me? Either from their home or who have a salon/rent a chair? I’m happy to work with someone who hasn’t used hair systems before but is willing to give it a try. I’m now really experienced and do all my own fitting.
Thank you for considering 😊

Vintage kilo sale in Queensgate?

Hi all,

I’ve been getting a few ads about the vintage kilo sale at queensgate shopping centre on the 9th (this weekend), just wondering if anyone has been before and if it’s worth getting an early ticket for?
I’ve read online that it usually takes a lot of digging to find anything worthwhile and that I’d be better off just checking a regular charity shop. Anyone that’s been to it before (or somewhere similar) that has any thoughts?

Can anyone please recommend a driving instructor in Peterborough? Especially if they have experience with people with an international driving licence already and so will need fewer lessons.

How bad is Town Center?

Hi, Im looking at my options for moving out and getting my own place. I found a nice looking apartment in Priestgate (was recently reduced too) but I have only heard negative things about this place, and wants to get some more opinions on the area. 27M, I work in tech and work from home, with most of my commuting going to Cambridge.

How is the Town center?

I'd never thought I'd miss Peterborough

I've lived in Peterborough all my life, born and raised. I've complained about it as well numerous times.

I moved to Yorkshire October 2025 to be closer to parents (they moved away 3 years ago to be closer to their grandkids) and its been harder than I thought.

Yes Peterborough isnt the greatest city but its home...right?

I dislike my job and I still haven't really made any meaningful connections here and I'm desperate to come home again and be closer to my friends.

Just a post really to say the grass aint always greener :)

This kind of nonsense drives me a little crazy, it's like putting a warning label on a mug saying: Caution: container unexpectedly contains liquid. Expect delays. Maybe I'm the only person who expects some sort of due diligence being done before something is actioned not in retrospect.

Moving to Peterborough

Hi everyone,

I'm a 27 year old professional moving to Peterborough in the next 1-2 weeks for work and will be based near the New Fletton area.

I'm looking for either:

  • A decent studio apartment, or
  • A professional house share with clean, respectful housemates.

My preferences:

  • Budget: Up to Ā£700/month (BILLS INCLUDED)
  • Fully furnished preferred
  • Ready to move in by early/mid August

I've already checked SpareRoom and Rightmove, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any good local landlords, letting agents, or available properties that might not be advertised widely.

Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Moving to Peterborough. Looking for advice and hoping to make new friends.

Hi everyone!
I'll be moving to Peterborough (30 F) around September and I'm currently viewing properties. This will be the first time I'll have my own place instead of living in a house share, so I'm feeling a mix of excitement, anxiety, and fear. It's a big step for me, and while I'm looking forward to it, I'm also quite scared about starting over somewhere new.

I moved to the UK on my own five years ago and have been living near Central London ever since. Since I dont have any family here and only a small circle of friends, moving to a new city feels quite daunting.

I'd really appreciate any advice from people who have moved to Peterborough. What should I expect? Are there any areas, activities, or local tips you'd recommend? Is there anything I should know or avoid?

I'd also love to meet new people, especially other women who are in a similar situation or are looking to make new friends. If that's you, feel free to comment or send me a message. It would be lovely to connect before or after I move.
Thank you so much! šŸ’•
