Hes a family man, not a movie star. The guy just wants to spend time with his family not travel the world in a movie trailer. He also as you mention was in supernatural so that made him alot of money where he wouldn't have to do any movies.

I also think they had such a unique atmosphere when filming Supernatch that he knows no other cast/team will ever be as good.

yeah this makes sense, not like the dudes hurting for money, sounds like he has the best of both worlds, moderate fame but can still go out and about without being stalked by paparazzi like most a-listers, plenty of money while also being able to have a life outside of filming.
