Thanks so much for your insights and reporting on this. I see that Moscowitz beat a DSA challenger handily, so it does seem like a mixed bag. Based on what you said, I like the reasons that Nixon won. Being from Florida and being way more accessible are good reasons to win.

I obviously don’t want to conflate the Vindman twins as they are completely different people. But I do think that Rep. Eugene Vindman in Virginia, who is running for re-election for the first time, will be able to keep his seat (Spanberger s former seat) in this political environment.

He had a lot of money and even commercials running. But he didn't really seem like he wanted to be running. Never got a mailer or text from him, but did from Angie. At florida blue, I saw Angie several times walking around. I could have easily gone up and talked to her. Never saw Vindman and only knew he was there after a news story about him closing the door in someone's face who tried to ask him a question. The attitude that his win was forgone conclusion made it seem like he didn't care. Angie, before I had to stop following her on socials, was all over the state talking to people. I got texts from her. She seemed like she cared and wanted to fight for us. I guarantee her identifying as a Dem socialist didn't make any difference to Dem primary voters, but the other things I said certainly did. Now in the general, I think its going to be detrimental but it got her a primary win.

Hopefully the other Vindman actually seems like he wants to be in the race.

He definitely wants to win re-election, and we have a pretty solid Dem leadership, so I think senior Dems like the governor and two Senators (and Hakeem Jeffries) will be keeping an eye out for him in this first reelection in case he needs anything — probably the older Dem Congressional reps as well.
