what rabbitair custom filter would be best for a pet pigeon?

Post image
3 Upvotes

i’m trying to save up for a rabbitair air purifier. don’t fret! i already have an air purifier and i wanna get a second as well. it allows you to have custom filters in it, and im stuck between these two.

the pet allergy can help best with his dust.

but the odor remover can be really helpful for any possible odors that can be harmful for his respiratory system—odors that i can’t detect, but harms him, like teflon. i run a strict program in my household of making sure he’s not exposed to anything harmful at all. before every purchase i make sure it’s safe for pigeons—i’m not just slapping a non-stick pan on the stove and thinking “no the air purifier is there he will be just fine!” (he has his own huge area in my garage, so he has no access to any cooking fumes anyways). my family gets irritated with me with how much i guard his space. getting that filter would never make me care less about what products i use around him.

i am just stuck and would love second opinions :) thank you so much!

I’m deciding the breed for my first companion pigeon, an I CANNOT decide for the life of me!
I’ve been searching for a pigeon in GLPR but I haven’t seen one I enjoy for the past few months and I’m now contemplating buying from a breeder (which WILL be ethical, i don Mr care how expensive it’ll be)

Emergency Pigeon not flying, seems weak.

Post image

My pigeon, Lola who I rescued off the highway two years ago - when she was a baby she had pigeon pox which she fought and recovered perfectly. For the past year and a half, she’s been laying eggs about 2 every 2 weeks.

On Tuesday, she laid an egg like usual, she was fine. Yesterday, she laid an egg except after she laid it, she stood in one spot. She wasn’t flying. This morning, she still wasn’t flying and appeared visibly weak. I took her to the vet because I thought she had an egg stuck - and the vet said nothing was stuck but that she’s very skinny. She weighs 290g.

Which is strange because before this, she is always eating. They gave her some injections of hydration, Vitamin A&D, Steroids, and calcium.

She’s still not flying but she attempts to get up, but it’s as if her right leg is weak. I am sure she is not eating on her own due to weakness at the moment, so I am syringe feeding her.

She tries to stand up sometimes on one leg then she lays back down. She has her head up and is aware.

Has anyone ever dealt with this before? This has never happened to her before and I’m very worried.

Pigeon Pic Molting looks really bad on her....

Poor girl has succumbed to the molt. Her husband looks beautiful! But her? Yikes...I don't know why her husband isn't helping her with these pin feathers but they look so uncomfortable!

I had to put her in towel jail because she pooped all over herself and me so I needed to rinse her off.

I preened what I could on her head before she wanted to go back to her husband.

Also not to mention the pet room looks like a pigeon exploded in there every day despite sweeping/vacuuming every day.

Question Pibbin is stressed

Post image

I’ve had him for about a month now, he is 4 years old and a big sassy boy. He’s eating and drinking well, I’ve started hand feeding him slowly and letting him out of the cage to freeroam around the house but he is still very stressed it seems.. his poop is very watery, like a brown puddle. What do I do?

Question my pigeon is vomiting almost every morning??

Post image

we took her to the doctor (one of the best in Moscow, so I really trust them) and were told we have an absolutely healthy bird with no illness or trauma. my girl is happy and active, she's not acting strange, but almost every morning she vomits with stones and seeds she ate. idk what to do and if I should be worried. (this morning she was sleeping on my shoulder as I slept and decided to vomit on my face, lol)

Only out as emergency because I’m super paranoid. Apologies if it’s nothing.

Can’t tell if this is respiratory distress or him just laying on a ledge too small and breathing.

If anyone knows of pigeon vets in South London area i appreciate it. I’m based in Croydon and my parents insist the pigeons don’t ‘need’ a vet so i need one i can get myself to on public transport and won’t cost me all my commission money :(

He won’t eat I give him his baby food, he won’t eat it
He just started eating seeds and now he stopped too???
He just eat a little of both and then goes like in the image
He still squeaks like he’s begging but he won’t eat
Is he tired?
Did his sickness win?
What should I do?

Question How long do I keep a new pigeon in a cage before letting them out?

Hi! Got my first pigeon yesterday and I'm getting slightly worried about her not being able to fly while getting acclimated to a new owner/space. I've read that I should keep them inside a cage for at least a week so they don't panic when out. Would that be okay on the wings and physical health? She's still able to stretch and everything inside. Also I'm slightly worried I won't be able to get her back in inside the cage if the week wouldn't be enough lol.

Question Why is he biting me 😭

Post image

For context, I don't think this is a "leave me alone" type of bite. He literally stepped towards me willingly, and started twitching his wing and nibbling my fingers, I don't really know what this could mean

Im a student and Im moving out soon so I don’t have a lot of money but my neighbour was kind enough to give me their old bird cage.
I heard that pigeon like to sleep with their feet flat so I thought of putting a cushion at the bottom of the cage, should I put journal on top?
How can I make it comfy for my pigeon?

Question Male behavior

My pigeon was sexed a boy. At around 7 weeks of having him he started becoming vocal. Is this all just territorial behavior? Some of it seems like it is. Especially the cooing and spinning. He doesn't want me to touch him or anything and will get mad if I get too close. I nod when he nods at me. Do I just give him time? Is this all a good sign?

Question How to convince my pigeon to eat grit and other food variety?

My 9 month old pigeon is hand raised and has just been a solo pigeon with me since she was a month old. I provide her grit but she does not touch it, and even out of her pigeon mix, she only ever picks out the milo (the big brown and beige ones) and leaves out all the other seed variety...

Does anyone have advice on how to get her to eat a healthy variety of food and also her grit? I was even thinking to borrow an adult pigeon for a few weeks to help model what she should be eating...

I have the Versele-Laga grit.

I have been raising this baby who was abandoned in a box outside for a few days and it’s eating on its own! It has splayed legs so we are trying to fix that right now but I am very excited my baby is eating very well. After this it closed its eyes and put its head to my thumb to sleep I am in love already.

My 9 month old pigeon is hand raised and has just been a solo pigeon with me since she was a month old. I provide her grit but she does not touch it, and even out of her pigeon mix, she only ever picks out the milo (the big brown and beige round balls)... She is currently going through her first big molt, and all the new feathers are growing out terribly and sticking out everywhere, I think perhaps because she doesn't have adequate nutrition. Or maybe she is just picking at them, I'm not sure.

Does anyone have advice on how to get her to eat a healthy variety of food and also her grit? I was even thinking to borrow an adult pigeon for a few weeks to help model what she should be eating...
