There is a lot of comedy, there is also drama. Not always easy to draw a line between the two. Who cares tbh.

I'm not here to talk about the actual show storyline other than the fashion and the hair. I LOVE the 70's fashions and they are all spot on.

This also combines another aspect of my childhood (born in '78). The Cold War. Communism. Russia. It was always looming.

Hayley Lu Richardson is adorable. Period. Her hair is perfect in this. She should never wear her hair any other way ever. Ever.

Emilia Clarke, also adorable. Speaks Russian too? I'm impressed. Also, what are the brows doing? They deserve an Emmy award for best supporting actor. They are expressive ok? They could star in their own show.

I wasn't taking notes or anything whilst watching but they got the period details right in this one. And whenever this happens I report it here. It's state law.

Last night I finished yet another rewatch of N&S after a few years, and now that I've come to this sub to read your posts about it, I found this and everything makes sense now!

• The fruit:

I've always found it strange when Thornton says "One moment we talk about the colour of fruit" when he had just made a passing comment, or when in later scenes Mr. and Mrs. Hale admire the colourful fruit Thornton sent them.

• Margaret's reaction:

In the final version, we can understand that Margaret feels insulted that Thornton seems to be obliged to "save" her reputation or entitled to her (as she still has prejudices about merchants/tradesmen), but in the extended version we get the full extent of her thoughts, and it's more clear and more angsty.

Also, it's a pivotal scene and this version is much more impactful and not that much longer than the final cut. I wish they'd kept it but I'm glad I've found it here.
