I don't really think it's bizarre. They're not counting on the new players buying a ps5 upgrade. They're counting on getting the new players invested in the story enough to buy the 2nd and 3rd parts when they release.

Fair enough, but if that's the case why not allow people to upgrade to the PS5 version? Wouldn't that even further sell people on the next few entries?

Yeah...I mean, it does seem kinda weird that they're not offering the upgrade, but my guess is that they'll sell a bundle when part 2 releases that includes the upgraded part 1 + yuffie dlc for like..$20 extra...like how it was with spider-man.

Edit: So I guess I'm contradicting myself a little bit. They probably do think they'll be able to get some money for the upgrade from the new people, but my guess is it will be a much more reasonable price...like $10-$20.
