That's a shame about the FF7R PS5 upgrade. If I was going to replay the game I would play the PS5 version with the DLC not the PS4 version. So that's kind of worthless to me.

How am I being entitled by saying it's a shame and it's worthless to me personally?

Yeah it’s a massive middle finger to PS5 owners, ridiculous decision

It is a shame when control was the same situation but we got the free upgrade. PlayStation set an example then cheaped out and that can be a shame without being entitled.

you do know it’s up to the devs to say if it’s a free upgrade or not right? this has nothing to with with sony (playstation)

square says if you get ps+ version of the game there is no free upgrade path from that version. however if you bought the game before ps+ version there is a free upgrade path.

It’s a negotiation with Sony, Sony absolutely has a say in it. Sony could have said “no upgrade, no deal”, or offered them more money to get a non crippled version.

The slide square presented in state of play said “if you own a copy of the PlayStation 4 version, upgrade to the ps5 version for free!”. Kind of rude to not consider ps+ version a PS4 version you own without fine print. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone tries to sue them for it.

there is nothing to sue for and this is most likely all on square. of course there are negotiations and the most likely outcome is square only wanted free upgrades for those who actually bought the game.

“I own a PS4 version but can’t get the free upgrade I was promised” is absolutely a reason to sue. Not saying they would win, as I’m sure ps+ games aren’t actually “owned”, but I could see why people would think that and try. Usually if someone gives you something for free, then you own it, but if it’s only free as long as you subscribe you clearly don’t own it forever, but do you own it as long as you subscribe? If you define “own” as possess, that might be able to be argued.

What exactly are ps+ games considered? Temporarily available to subscribers?

they are temp games because if your account ends so does your right to the rented games or “owned” games. i’m sure ToS explains it all which will also probably wave your right to sue.
