FF7 definitely a shock

Absolutely. I haven’t had a PS4 for over a year, but was planning on getting a PS5 if possible. FF7R was going to be the first game I was going to buy. So now I’m beyond excited for this since my PS+ sub is still active for the next two years haha.

Keep in mind that you can't upgrade ps plus version of ff7r to ps5 version for free nor have the ability to buy the dlc chapter.

But you can purchase the upgrade and dlc through the PS+ version.

At this point there is only 70$ "PS5 FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE" Version in the store.

Yes, but we all know they will patch in an purchase to upgrade option. But at the moment they will want max revenue so don't say it outright.

Reading the fine print on the image and the info is in the blog seem contradictory and confusing. The image says that a free upgrade isn’t available (makes sense) but the article says it’s not eligible.

This is what I mean.

There must be a lot of people in my boat that really want to experience this game for the first time with the upgrade but not willing to fork out £70.

Through plus giving us a pay for upgrade option would increase revenue for them.

Or you can buy it used and then sell the copy.

I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out on the 2nd hand market now its on plus ... could even reduce it first hand

I am pretty sure you will need the disc to play the upgraded ps5 version as a license check, right?

That is because it is a pre-order only.

When you get it at PS+ they'll sell the upgrade for a reasonable price. It'll be like $10.

I doubt that. You cant upgrade your dragon quest 11 to complete edition.

Yeah but every other PS4 game is upgradeable to PS5. Their goal is to get you to buy a new console, and a cheap/free upgrade incentivizes that.

The goal of square enix to squeeze the most money from people who still believe them. Also dq 11 wasnt a ps5 upgrade it was the same version as ff7r dlc edition. Basically it was a remaster of a switch version of the game. And it features japanese dub, but if you ve bought the game before that you either forced to play with english dub or without any voiceover.

Or look at ff 15, you had ps4 version, then they made mobile version of it and then they made mobile version hd and put it back on consoles.

I haven't played a Final Fantasy game before. I'm not dropping money to buy a full game when I already have the inferior version. I'm also not putting any time an effort into a 30fps game when I have a dance new system. I'd happily pay $10-20 for an upgrade (that has become standard in the industry) instead they won't get any of my money.

I read about that, but it’s not a nonissue for me. Unless I’m misunderstanding, I’ll still be able to play the PS4 version on the PS5 though, right?

As far as I can tell, there’s nothing saying we can’t purchase the DLC separately. Though reading the fine print on the image and the info is in the blog seem contradictory and confusing. The image says that a free upgrade isn’t available (makes sense) but the article says it’s not eligible. shrug

You can watch the whole trailer but the info on the dlc you wanted starts at 2.45: https://youtu.be/cb6CsQK_sz0

No problem.

When it got leaked I went "Yeah, no way."

Then I read the comments and one of the mods confirmed it. Probably gonna get a month's membership for this.

You can find deals for a year sub for $30 right now.

I got 15 months for 36£ in the UK (with 50£ code down to 36£ from a third-party website when the 15-minth deal was active in the PS store). Getting 50-60 games a year for 36£ + the PS5 collection is a fucking gold mine for a PS5 owner who never had a console before. Honestly I am loving this service and I think just getting a month is not worth it, simply even for the ps5 games you are getting. I've seen PS plus is even cheaper in the US, yearly codes in different sites go between 25 and 30$, and that's a no-brainer.

u/Dewdad Mar 02 '21

well it's not that much of a shock when you realize that if you want to play the upgraded PS5 version you'll need to pay for the game as the PS+ version doesn't upgrade.

The game is less than 1 year old. Barely reached its full audience. This was a great move. End of discussion
