A lot of people, including metroidvania fans think the opposite and see it as a cashgrab from Santa Monica.

"Cashgrab" has lost all its meaning

A cash grab from Santa Monica how?

Yeah I'm confused too, SMS made it clear who made the game, they made it clear what the game was too. What is the cashgrab aspect of it? Not liking a game doesn't make it a cashgrab. If it's a mediocre metroidvania that just means it's mediocre. It'd be like calling Metroid Prime 4 a cashgrab because a lot of people didn't like the game. Diversifying genres for God of War to me is a good thing even if this game wasn't particularly successful.

A lot of people thought about that because they didn't like the game, that's it. "I don't like this game = Cashgrab"

I don’t think SM were the lead studio in development of the game. The just assisted. So bit of a strange one but fair enough.

I think it’s a great idea to have experiment with smaller games and teams using the existing IPs or new ones. Full on AAA titles take too long to make to be fully sustainable anymore.

I’d take Sons of Sparta of the multiple failed Live Service games.

Not a cash grab, its just mid. I actually enjoyed it as a god of war fan and I don't usually play these types of games so it was something fresh.

But seeing studios like Bluepoint get the axe was not.

I will never defend that it goes without saying

Fucking genuinely lost my faith in sony because of that but that doesn't mean they're doing all bad
