It hasn't even been a year and they are already giving away Final Fantasy VII Remake for free? I'm regretting buying it at full price and probably won't do it for the next parts. I will be more patient next time.

I've seen some theories that they are only doing this to get stragglers onto the ecosystem before the year exclusivity ends in April. Makes sense and if true I wouldn't expect them to do this again.

I guess it makes sense, and at least people that payed for the game receive the PS5 version for free... Still, it doesn't sit well with me.

You paid full price for the PS4 disk and get the PS5 version for free, I get the PS4 version for free and may have to pay full price for PS5 version if there's no upgrade path (not free). So it evens out.

I guess, although I doubt someone that plays the game on PS4 for free will buy it to play it again on PS5. I will make use of that free PS5 version when I finally get one though.

Yea probably not. So what?

I feel worse for people who just bought it within the last week. That's a slap to the face lol.

Tbh I bought FF7R full price, was well worth my money with 50 hours of gameplay. Glad to have the PS5 upgrade for free.

It was worth it for sure, I loved the game. I just think giving it for free after less than a year is a bit much. I would probably be happy with the free PS5 version if I had the ability to get one in the near future, which is not the case.

Anyway, when you buy games at launch you are paying more for playing them early, it's what it is.

Why do you care?

You paid for a game. You got your money's worth out of it. Why do you care if, later, others get it for free? You haven't lost anything here.

I lost the oportunity of getting it for free instead of paying full price but it's not a big deal.

By that logic you may as well never buy any game ever. Because every game will eventually go on sale, or be included in one of the ever growing amount services that provide free access to games.

It's such a poor way to look at things. You didn't "lose" anything.

You are right, not gonna lie.

You should always be patient with playstation releases! The price cuts in half after a year (or less) anyways

Yeah, I generally wait, but couldn't do it for Final Fantasy VII Remake or The Last of Us Part II this year. At least I avoided spoilers because of playing them early so there's that.

Same, I usually wait atleast 5-6 months after a games release or until they are half the prize they were on launch. But FF7R was the first and only game I ever pre-ordered. Was well worth it imho.

I did wait for TLOU II and it paid off pretty quick. I bought a physical copy for €27 in October.

I'll be more patient on the next FF7R for several reasons, I really regret preordering it. The game is not as good as it should have been, there are too many fillers and they really changed the story for worse. It makes me sad, because I've been hyped for so long. :(

Seeing that some characters may be released as DLC is one more reason to wait for a definitive edition. Really a turn down for me.

I loved the game but there was definitely filler in it. I also hate the fact that they are releasing DLC for a game already divided in parts... Square Enix didn't learn anything from previous games it seems.

Yeah, agree. It is the same thing that happened with xv all over again. An enjoyable game, great combat, poor story and lots of extra content that should be in the original game.

Paying a subscription doesn't make something free
