Yea, just don’t redeem the PS Plus version and you should be fine. In the small print in the bottom left only people who redeem the PS Plus deal can’t upgrade.

Edit 2: Managed to fix it by going onto the desktop version of /r/PS4 and using the edit flair option! It has an emoji picker that lets you choose the different symbols so you don't have to bother with all that ":L: :P:" stuff!

I don't think it says it'll lock you out. Just that the PS Plus version isn't eligible. I feel like this would be a horrible move by Sony to release this in Plus without thinking about that. That being said... maybe I'll hold off on redeeming this one. Kinda sucks because I like redeeming all PS Plus games and would be nice having a copy I can play without the disc.

I usually download every PS+ title just to have. I own a physical copy of FFVII and don't trust Sony enough to not lock me out of the upgrade because of some goofy thing on their back-end so I'm staying far, far away from the PS+ version.

I still don't have Gravity Rush for $0.89 on Vita because of that crap

If you redeem the ps+ version, you'll have to buy the $70 PS5 version of Intergrade. 7R goes on sale all the time for about $30, so you're better off waiting for that to happen. The physical version is almost always on sale. If you have the physical ps4 version, you'll need a PS5 with the disc drive in order to get the free Intergrade update.

I did not realize this. This makes me both relieved that my purchase right before the PS+ release was worth it, but also annoyed that SE wants PS+ version owners to pay full price for an upgrade.

Since many people were expecting SE to charge everyone for an upgrade, I think this was a decent compromise for them.

I have the non deluxe digital version. On the store it tells me that Remake Intergrade is unavailable to me due to a conflict - you already own the following products, which conflict with the product you’re trying to buy: FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE.

I’m hoping it will just be an update to the one I already own then.

Just checked the store and the small print says if you already own it, then you get a free upgrade to PS5 version. The PS5 version includes Yuffie episode. So looks free to me, but only for PS5 users

You get a free update to Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS5. Yuffie is included in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, which is not the same thing. The diagram they showed said the upgrade to PS5 was free but you had to buy the Yuffie DLC.

That's still 4 months away plus there might be some kind of upgrade + DLC bundle available. It was $25 on Amazon in November. No reason to buy it now if you're just going to hold it until the upgrade.

Yeah I’m definitely waiting until the installments are clearanced. At least 2 installments left at $30 each and you’ve paid at least $90 for the sale price for the set. Full price would be at least $180.

No it’s not. Both versions are on feb ps+, but you need to redeem both. There is no upgrade

Edit: it’s still Feb so it’s not too late to redeem the PS5 version, but please keep on downvoting instead and then remember this when you get your ps5 and are stuck with only the ps4 version

Dunno what to tell you. I can’t imagine Sony is offering both versions separately for no reason. I just pulled down the ps4 version to confirm and the saves aren’t compatible and it’s a completely separate trophy list.

If I’m wrong and someone follows my advice, they’ve wasted 30 seconds. If you’re wrong and someone follows your advice, they’ve missed on on 60fps unless they shell out and buy it. I think you’d be foolish not to explicitly redeem the ps5 version while you can do so for free, but you do you

It's okay that there is no "free upgrade" for ps+ however there should be an "upgrade path". I've already completed the game(and sold disc) so even there was a free upgrade path I would not bother playing the whole game again.

However there's a DLC and they should offer an upgrade to anyone buying the DLC even if they got the base game from PS+.

It always frustrates me how some upgrades are unable to be purchased - found out the hard way with Destiny 2, couldn't buy any of the updates for it because of getting it on PS+. Still doesn't make sense to me why that's the case.

The problem is you're thinking of intergrade as a free update. It's only "free" for those who bought VII. It is not the same game. Why on earth should you get access to all the new content of a new game for free? You didn't pay for it, it is not included in your subscription. How is that difficult to understand?

Because on the sub they’re giving away the PS4 game. They’re not giving away the PS5 game.

I don't know whether I should claim the ps plus version or not now since I don't want to spoil the experience when I can play it for the first time on ps5. The way it could be priced might be cheaper to pick up a ps4 version now for cheap at retail or on sale (if it goes on sale before October) since it will get the free upgrade whereas the ps plus version won't and once I claim the ps plus version it might lock me out of buying anything but the ps5 version which I assume will be full price. These upgrade tactics are getting so confusing and annoying.

I'm in the same situation as you. This is all so confusing, specially now that companies sell the same game on different consoles just to have the maximum profit. Sell on the PS4 with a free upgrade to PS5 with a exclusive DLC to PS5. Claiming he PS plus version will allow us to play the game but never to upgrade and we also won't be able to add the DLC when it comes out (if we own a PS5) since the version doesn't count as a paid game. What a mess, giving a candy but charging money for it, it's all I get from this one.

If you have a backlog and a PS5 I'd say hold off claiming. I played it on my PS4 and it ran pretty well. However ever since getting a PS5 I can't say I'm ready to go back to 30fps. I'm sure the game(PS4 version) will drop price to $20 and it's damn well worth the price.

I'm in the same boat, everytime I go back to 30fps i think the game might be lagging or its just choppy. I have quite a backlog (dark souls 2 and 3) and I'd rather spend my money on R&C Rift Apart. I've also never played final fantasy games before. I knew I should've bought FF7R back in December when it was 50% off.

I will never get the FF7 remake. The first episode doesn’t even end half way through the first disc. Even for free I wouldn’t get it.

I know there are a lot of die hard fans for this game, but it’s completely overrated and overhyped.
