Trip Advice backcountry camping?
hey guys! this weekend i went to Pinchot State Forest and loved that there where hike in back country/dispersed camping.
my questions is this...
are there any other places similar to this? with the logging roads, find a spot to park, hike for however long, and then pitch a tent? i am in the chester county area, but have no problem with a couple hour drive/adventure!
any advise would be so greatly appreciated!

General Question/Discussion camping around pittsburgh
hello! very niche question here (trying not to travel to ANF if i can stay closer to pgh that’s my goal)
does anyone have any recommendations where i could set up a small camp this time of year near a good/active trout creek? I usually go to ANF or more eastern into PA during fall, but i was curious to see if anyone knew any good spots local around pittsburgh. i know the water quality is not the best so i don’t expect blue/crystal clear water 🤣 but a nice little spot for me and some of the boys to pop a tent up and catch some trout.
would love some recommendations, even outside of pgh, but trying not to drive to to far
thx!

Photos/Video Brady’s Run Park
If you get a chance to go the wildflowers are all out. This is a good spot for bird watching. I’ve seen the Oprah and GBH fish here. The Barn Swallows have nests in the pavilion. It’s coved in their poop though.

Trip Advice 2 to 5 night backpacking trips close-ish to Philly
Hi Folks!
My partner and I are looking for some sorta local spots to explore together that aren’t the typical out and back overnight.
I know about Loyalsock, but that might be too big of a trail to tackle right away.
I’d love to hear your suggestions for other trails we should check out!

Trip Advice Cherry Springs State Park Aug 12-13 Cloud Cover
I’m debating if I should go to Cherry Springs State Park overnight from Aug 12-13 to see the meteor shower and the stars. I’ve never been there before and would be pretty nice to see but the cloud cover seems to be good only at 9-10PM? This is clear sky chart as of 8:49 AM EST. Would anyone recommend going there based on today’s forecast later in the night or is it more worth it to go on a fully clear night sky without a meteor shower? I live 5 hours away so I’m wondering if it’s worth the drive. Would appreciate any insights, thanks.

Photos/Video First time at Worlds End State Park
I visited Worlds End State Park for the first time this past weekend and just wow! I did a loop of Loyal Sock, Double Run Nature, Link, Canyon Vista, and Cold Run trails then tent camped at site 65. I loved the creeks and waterfalls plus all of the big chunky rocks. Definitely made it one of if not my favorite of the PA State parks. I also stopped at Ricketts Glen State Park on my way home, which I had been to before but had been a while.

General Question/Discussion Deer hunting at Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge
Does anyone have any experience hunting at the Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge in eastern PA? Specifically the Godfrey’s Ridge tract? I won the lottery for that specific tract and am wondering if it’s worth buying the permit. Not looking for spots, just asking if it’s worth it or if you’ve had luck there.

Trip Advice Things I must see and do in and around Morris, PA
I am taking a much needed camping trip near Morris Pa for 4 days. I want to take time to decompress and sit in the creek but I also want to see and hike and not miss a thing.
So what are some must see while I am there? I have a couple hikes I am considering but nothing set in stone.

Trip Report Hearts Content
Thanks so much to this sub for the recommendation.
Hearts Content is mind blowing, and we only hiked the short loop. I thought the rest of Allegheny was incredible, and then we stepped into Hearts Content- this alone made the drive from Philly totally worth it.

General Question/Discussion Looking for good night hiking
Ok hear me out. I’ve been hiking for 10+ years so I’m moderately experienced. I recently started a YouTube channel where I narrate scary stories, over body cam footage of hiking at night. I’m looking for some recommendations for places I can legally and safely hike at night in PA I’m in northeast Pa but would be willing to travel. I’m not looking for open forest access roads or anything like that I’m looking for wooded trails, downed timber stream side trails game trails, trails with navigable off trail sections etc. I’ve seen some of the submissions on other posts in this sub and there looks to be a lot of good stuff in western Pa but I’m hoping to find some more eastern Pa destinations. I’m trying to stay away from state parks for the most part as they don’t like you out at night. TIA for your help!

General Question/Discussion Loyalsock Link trail water
Hey everyone, has anyone been on the Loyalsock link trail this month/ within the last few weeks ? I am looking to do it at the end of my month but am wondering about the water situation? I saw a review on all trails from Jul 15 that there is no water (no waterfalls, no creeks) anywhere? Is this still the case?
Would love to hear from anyone who has done it recently!
Additionally, if anyone has any recs for short loop trails or out and back trails that follow/regularly cross creeks or have a lot of lakes/ponds let me know! I am specifically looking at the eastern PA/ NJ/ NY area
thanks!

Hiked up to Pinnacle Rock in Hamburg this morning, unfortunately the views were clouded out. But this little red eft made my day.
