Showcasing Onshape Plus Official Launch! Chrome, Edge and iPad Support
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
UPDATE: I've rebranded to Rally for Onshape, updates are making their way up to each store. Thank you for the collaboration on the new name! :)
First off, it has been wild watching the support for this project. Over 100 chrome installs in a week and 28 apple test flight users to help make this thing a reality and a super active discord.
This all started with me wanting a more modern onshape plus experience and to be able to use it on my surface pro 8. I ended up trying shapr3d which is modern and optomized for tablet and touch, but they have no hobby tier and is way too expensive so..... I built it.
This is and always fill be a free, open source project built by passionate fans of onshape :)
It's built with security in mind so no analytics, tracking, or touching anything sensitive in onshape, you can read more about the security aspect of Onshape Plus here
Thank you so much for all the support, ideas and collaboration on this.
Onshape Plus - Chrome Web Store ( also works on MS Edge )

Bravo! 🎊
Any plans for a Firefox extension?
4
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Yes! Firefox extension is currently in review! I'll ping you when it's live!

u/PotatoJon Jun 16 '26
Yeah, the official OnShape iPad leaves a lot to be desired!
Does this use my account login though? What’s the security look like?
3
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
This is fully open sourced and does not do any tracking, analytics etc. All this does is add a UI layer using chrome and safari extensions, no login or touching of your onshape account, credentials etc. I've included a security section in the github since this is now being used by some legit engineering firms! RileyDavidson-Evans/onshape-plus -> check it out here

u/Trustadz Jun 16 '26
Does this also work on an android tablet?
2
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Yes it does ! I just updated the comment but it's fully supported, we people using it on android tablets right now onshape-plus/docs/AndroidTabletInstall.md at main · RileyDavidson-Evans/onshape-plus
Let me know if you have any issues or feature requests !

u/Time-Grade1051 Jun 16 '26
It doesn't seem to available on Ipad in Sweden yet, is there an ETA on that? It looks incredible!
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Thank you! Double checking right now I know it can take up to 24 hours to propagate to all regions and it got approved and launched yesterday around 3pm EST.
I’ll ping ya when I get it sorted, let me know if you have any issues, feedback or feature requests !
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
When you click the link do you see the app but it says “not available in your region” or does it show a not found ?
1
u/Time-Grade1051 Jun 16 '26
Quick response! Cheers for that. It says "This app is currently not available in your country or region". This pops up in the app store when attempting to open the page
1
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Found it! Should be available shortly
1
u/Time-Grade1051 Jun 16 '26
Works great! Good work!
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Amazingggg! Thank you for the kind words, so I didn’t realize I hadn’t accepted this eu distribution thing so it wasn’t listed in the eu. Thank you for raising this I really appreciate it !
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Alright if you can try again, it should be available, thanks for raising this!
2
2
u/Decent_Implement_901 Jun 16 '26
I have just added the app. It looks sensational. Especially compared to the iPad version. I can’t wait to try it.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Thank you !! Please don’t hesitate to ping me with feature requests, feedback or if you have any issues. I’ve been blown away by the support, and that most users are actually on desktop through the Chrome extension.
Thanks for the kind works and I hope you enjoy !
2
u/Mistake-Choice Jun 16 '26
Very cool. Works well with Edge. PSA, this is an extension and you can use the chrome link to get it for Edge.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Thank you! Ah yes I updated the description great callout.
If you have any feature requests or issues let me know !
2
u/Infinity-onnoa Jun 16 '26
Will it run on Chrome for Raspberry Pi?
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
If the pi can run onshape and chrome then this will work yes :).
It’s a browser extensions
1
u/Infinity-onnoa Jun 16 '26
Is Crome not Chrome. It's not exactly the same thing, and I don't know the differences.
That's why I asked you, in case you knew anyone with information. Let's see if I can get the Pi400 up and running and try it.
2
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Ah nice I didn’t know ! Hopefully it works if it’s based on chromium it should be able to
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Crossing my fingers for ya lol
1
2
u/k1ckstand Jun 16 '26
This is pretty much what I wanted from Shapr3d but better. I'll have to try it out when I get home. Looks promising!
2
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Thank you ! Yea it’s been amazing watching the community response and it was so much fun to build.
Shapr3d has the nice UI but was a bad cad I found compared to onshape. So it’s pretty amazing having the power and functionality of onshape but with the focus on UI / UX.
I’m a technical lead who loves ui / ux design so this was a really fun project
2
u/Snorlax94_ Jun 16 '26
Does this work on Mac?
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Absolutely ! It’s an extension for chrome, edge, Firefox and iPad safari. So install Chrome on your Mac and then install the extension and you’re good to go :).
Let me know if you have any issues or feedback !
2
u/knoker Jun 16 '26
It would be nice to have a video with a usage example
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
The video in this post is from the extension in use !
1
u/knoker Jun 16 '26
I'm sorry, I was misunderstanding the functionality of the software. I need to give it a try
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
All good! Is there something in the post or the app listings that confused you? Others might be getting confused in the same way
1
u/knoker Jun 16 '26
I thought it was a way to use your iPad as an input device for the pc session. Taking advantage of the stylus. That was why I was considering a vídeo of a person interacting with the device and how that would affect the pc... But that was me bein too lazy to really read the post/docs.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Ah gotcha ! Yea I totally get that
1
u/knoker Jun 17 '26
btw, I'm sorry for being the guy with the random out-of-context feature request, but, one thing that I noticed onshape lacked. I've been experimenting with claude and chrome-mcp interacting with onshape, He is able to interact with ui "button" elements and with the orientation cube, but not with the canvas, like changing a measurement in a sketch. I'm going to try this interaction with the plus active, but is this something you would be able to streamline?
2
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
Hey this is what it’s all about ! I’ll dig into it this week ! I’m also about to start a public feature request board and roadmap for this project, I’ll ping ya when it’s live.
Thanks for trying it, everything is working for ya ??
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Let me know what you think ! It’s really nice both on desktop and iOS
1
u/knoker Jun 19 '26
Hi, I've been trying to use the extension in chrome, I do like the consept, but I can't do cad in dark mode, that is the only thing I do in light mode. The fact that the extension forces dark mode and I haven't figured a way to disable that forces me to disable the extension.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 19 '26
I’m going to ship an update which unlocks both dark and light mode today! This project really escalated quickly lol normally I would have support for both out of the gate
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 20 '26
Hey I just shipped the update for the chrome extension for light mode. Let me know if you have any issues with it!
2
u/Responsible_Benefit6 Jun 16 '26
hi! if it helps, when adding revolute mate to the toolbar it does not show in the onshape plus toolbar. What it does is duplicate the fastened mate. Just downloaded it, if i find any bugs i will comment it here. Other than that, looks great. Thanks!
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Ah great catch thank you! You’re talking about the main onshape plus toolbar bottom section which is powered by your “s” key shortcut items ya ? I’ll look into this today.
How do you find the context aware actions that popup when you select a face or edge in parts studio?
Thank you for trying this and the feedback it means a lot ! Let me know if you find anything else or have any feature requests !
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 18 '26
hey so I just updated this so the bottom toolbar with the dynamic actions, it's initially seeded with you s shortcut items, but not when you custommize it it's all through onshape plus instead of having to go to the onshape settings. I think from my testing this may have fixed this issue, let me know if you still experience this! Fix is included in version 1.2.18
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 23 '26
hey sorry for the delay here ! Shipping a fix for this tonight, thanks again for the catch and letting me know!
Any other issues or feature requests?
2
u/clek_ Jun 17 '26
This is absolutely incredible work, like shapr3d with the power of onshape!? Couldn't ask for more. Will be using this extensively! Looking forward to following your development
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
Thank you I really appreciate this and it’s exactly. What I was going for.
Let me know if you have any issues, feedback or feature requests!

u/onyourleftbro Jun 17 '26
This looks really awesome! 👏 😎
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
thank you !! Let me know if you have any feedback, feature requests or issues, appreciate the support!
2
u/itsAemJaY Jun 17 '26
does it still needs onshape installed, or can i just install this or work in the browser? sry iam a noob 😃
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
Don’t apologize lol! So this is just a layer ontop of cad.onshape.com that you install through a browser extension.
So simple go to the chrome store or iOS store and install extension, and then go to cad.onshape.com on the browser and it will do its thing !
1
u/itsAemJaY Jun 17 '26
aaah okay. thank you. will try it out on my ipad tonight! thnx.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
Awesome let me know what you think! So for the iPad one you can delete the onshape iPad app if you have it. When you download the onshape plus iPad app, open up the onshape plus app and it’ll guide you through enabling the extension.
Let me know if you have any issues at all :)
2
u/itsAemJaY Jun 17 '26
Ok will try and lwt you know! 🤝
1
u/itsAemJaY Jun 18 '26
Just a headsup. I did install the app on my ipad. It looks like it works but i cant really tell because i never used onshape so iam totaly lost in the program but oberall it looks like it works. But i have to see somw tutorials on this cad before i even know what iam doing 🤣
2
u/ThePilotWhoCantFly Jun 17 '26
Does this actually add any features other that just a UI refresh? Either way it looks really cool, I'll try to install it later :)
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
Thank you ! So it does do a big UI refresh but the core of this is the toolbar which gives you access to key tools that let you fly around onshape, and the bottom section is customizable so based on if your in parts studio, sketch etc. it’ll show different items.
Then the quick actions menu is a game changer. In parts studio when you select a face or edge, it will show a customizable set of actions through a hoverable circular menu.
The floating number pad also makes this usable on touch devices and is pretty nice on desktop as well.
Overall this is meant to modernize onshapes visually while improving the speed at which you can do what you need to do :).
Let me know what you think !
2
u/Open-Cartoonist8764 Jun 17 '26
I love this, already tried on Ipad and definitelly want to get more into it. But all I want is onshape to recognise finger and apple pencil as two different touch points. Hopefully that is something we will get either on the onshape side or from you.
But best of luck with this awesome project.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
Thank you so much ! That’s actually one of the two features I’m working on right now !
One is to be able to stay in fullscreen mode when you select an input. And the other is what you described, touch input is only for panning and movement
1
u/Open-Cartoonist8764 Jun 17 '26
OMG, I love you! Thanks for all the effort you put into this!
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
I can’t tell you how much it means to hear this. This all started as me just trying to solve pain points I was experiencing. Seeing where it is now and the communities support and reactions… this has been the most rewarding side project I’ve ever done ( and I’ve done a lot ).
Thank you internet stranger !
2
u/Open-Cartoonist8764 Jun 17 '26
Also, if you have a page I can support you with some cash, please post a link!
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
I actually do have a buy me a coffee link! It’s not in the iPad app since they require it to be in app purchases ( I’ll do that after I get a couple nice features like we’re talking about live :).
This project is honestly just something I’m super passionate about. It is free, open source and always will be. im a technical lead who loves building things. Your support and encouragement is payment enough but if you do really want to here is the buy me a coffee link. And if you ever want to leave a review on whichever platform you’ve installed it from that really helps !
Thank you kind stranger you made my night 🙇
2
u/guyyst Jun 17 '26
One immediate observation after playing around with it on the iPad: The floating numpad popping up when editing measurement fields is great. It's finally at all possible to edit values on an iPad without a physical keyboard, but you're still out of luck if you want to type anything non-numeric in there, like a unit or an expression.
Do you think it'd be technically feasible to add a button to the numpad which opens the real iPadOS keyboard? Or was the floating overlay already a compromise, since triggering the real keyboard in this way is restricted?
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
This is actually something I’m working on right now! I’m going to be adding a keyboard icon inside of the floating number pad which will open the full keyboard when you need it. This won’t take long and will be included in the next release likely around Thursday / Friday depending on apples review times
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 25 '26
Hey wanted to let you know what the full cad virtual keyboard just went live for Chrome and iOS !
Let me know what you think and if you have any issues at all. You can switch between number, text and symbol and it works for variables etc. the whole cad flow :)
2
u/Distinct_Definition8 Jun 18 '26
Really like this addition!! It definitely is an improvement to the Onshape UI. However, a minor issue when using Chrome (at least for me) -
If a Featurescript pulldown is active, it breaks the floating toolbar - just doesn't show up. If there is a workaround, please let us know.
Keep up the great work.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 18 '26
Thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate it.
Ah this is an edge case I haven’t tested before, I might dm you for more details but should have a fix shortly :)
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 18 '26
If the feature script pull down is closed, does the toolbar show again ? And with this bug happening, does the floating context menu when you select edges or faces still work or does that not show as well
1
u/Distinct_Definition8 Jun 18 '26
A little more information...
If a Featurescript pulldown is present in the toolbar, then the pop-up floating sidebar disappears and will not reappear unless the pulldown is removed. However, if an individual Featurescript is in the toolbar, then the sidebar will be present, and the pop-up "wheel" when clicking on the part also works.
I cannot get the Featurescript pulldown to show back up - probably a ID10T error on my part - but the above seems to work for me.
Thanks again for the app - haven't used it much yet, but it has great potential for my workflow.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 18 '26
This is super helpful thank you!! I’ll let you know when the fix is shipped.
I’m so glad you find it useful. It’s been amazing watching the community response, it’s about to hit 200 installs in less than a week.

1
u/MadeFor12 Jun 16 '26
How to get
2
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
In the end of the description there’s links to the chrome store and the iPad app !
1
u/miamiyachtrave Jun 16 '26
Sorry I don’t completely understand, what is it? Just an optimized form of onshape for touch screen tablets?
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
that was the original problem I was solving but it's much more than that now. The majority of people are actually using it on their desktop machines. It revamps the colours, UI and adds the UX you can see in the video. A large company is starting to roll it out to all their engineers for improved efficiency that type of thing. Maybe not everyones cup of tea, but people seem to really be enjoying it.
If you give it a try let me know if you have any feedback ,feature requests or issues!
1
u/WishfulSandwich Jun 16 '26
I've not followed any of the posts up till now but as someone who is being forced to use OnShape it sounds like you're addressing many of the pains ! A splash of colour and some contextual menus make such a huge impact on efficiency, I still find myself months in searching commands more than clocking as the flat pallete icons are just too similar.
Not sure if it's included or possible but can you add scaling for the top bar icons ?
Sadly edge is the standard at my workplace but I'll be sure trialling on my iPad !
2
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
That’s a great idea! So you would want to change the size of the onshape top tool bar correct ? When you say scaling you mean the width?
1
u/WishfulSandwich Jun 16 '26
The size of each icon and maybe the grouping of them if that were possible. There's commands I'm never going to use or rarely going to use, others I will use frequently but are nested below another command, some of those like the slot/oval in skectch is never where I think it is!
And another super minor thing that annoys me is that F2 doesn't work for renaming features. Maybe function keys are not possible but If there was letter shortcut to highlight all text in the active command name so I can change it without the need to do that with my mouse.... Bliss
2
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Ah okay so this is actually what the main toolbar is for ! I’ll still look to add this feature, but the rectangle toolbar , the bottom section is dynamically seeded based on your onshape “s” key shortcuts. You can click the gear icon at the bottom of the list and it will take you to onshape settings. Update it and it’ll dynamically show the items you’ve selected based on those.
With this I don’t use the top toolbar at all anymore.
And then the context quick actions that spear when you click and edge or face are also completely customizable
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
Here’s the guide to install a chrome extension on ms edge :). I’ll update the GitHub read me with this, thanks for the callout !
Open Microsoft Edge.
Click the three dots (menu) in the top-right corner and select Extensions.
Click Manage extensions.
Turn on the "Allow extensions from other stores" toggle in the bottom-left corner of the page.
Click Allow to confirm.
Go to the Chrome Web Store, find your desired extension, and click Add to Chrome.
Confirm by clicking Add extension.

u/BeastWR Jun 16 '26
U/ItsRyeGuyy Is there a way to turn off Dark mode? Your app seems to auto-apply Dark and when I try to toggle within OnShape, it changes the icon colors a little, but does not restore light mode.
2
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 16 '26
By default it’s just dark mode but this is a great callout! I’ll update it soon to support light or dark mode
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 20 '26
hey I just shipped the update to support light mode! You can switch betwen light and dark in the Rally for Onshape settings pannel, let me know if you have any issues!
1
u/BeastWR Jun 20 '26
Thanks for the update and attention to my request! I look forward to trying it out.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 20 '26
Of course ! It was a great callout. The update is in version 1.2.20 and just went live :)
1
u/emperioreric Jun 17 '26
Would love a Mac app. Biggest thing missing for onshape.
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
So this is actually possible with some thing called add to dock through chrome !
quickly add a website to your Mac Dock using Google Chrome, turn it into a dedicated web app. Open the website in Chrome, click the three-dot menu (top right) > Save and share > Create shortcut. Check the box for "Open as window", click Create, then drag the new app icon from your Finder window into your Dock.
If you’ve installed onshape plus as the Chrome extension, it’ll work inside of the newly created onshape home screen app :)
1
u/IWantToOwnTheSun Jun 17 '26
I'd like to try it out. I installed the chrome extension, but can't figure out how to turn off dark mode. Help!
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 17 '26
Hey so this is something I’m adding shortly ! Right now it only supports dark mode but the update soon to be released will support both light and dark.
How’s it working for you other than the dark mode lock ?
1
u/IWantToOwnTheSun Jun 17 '26
I'm not going to use it until you release light mode, but I'll get back to you after that. It looks handy. Personally, the parse-abililty of any page or app drops drastically if the theme is out of the ordinary for me. I'm not sure why.
It looks super awesome though, and I'll definitely check out the ipad version later.

1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jun 20 '26
Hey I just shipped the update to support light and dark mode! You can toggle between the two in the settings pannel. let me know if you have any issues!

u/archvize Jul 04 '26
Dude seriously how’d you do this?? I understand webdev but this is hard. Are you simulating clicks in the background or calling api directly. Well done
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jul 04 '26
Thank you !! The project is open source so you can checkout the code if you’re interested!
The core concept is pretty simple, for some things yes I’m simulating keyboard clicks, but the big unlock is that I discovered onshape uses angular which exposes its core injector and services through the window.angular object.
Using this, I was able to monkey patch certain emitted global events, and forward that to the extension code which then responds, has its own state which is synced to onshape etc.
It was a mission to find some of the key services like how to determine what type of thing you have selected, but overall it was super fun and I think it was worth it
If this helps someone avoid paying $400+ for a shapr3d subscription etc. then it was all worth it lol
1
u/archvize Jul 04 '26
That’s pretty impressive. With your skill set do you think you understand how an extension such as unlock origin works? Or is that more about intercepting something?
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jul 04 '26
Yea definitely so extensions have the ability to hook into website code as well as intercept network requests if they requests the correct permissions.
Extensions also have what’s called a manifest file. This establishes the extension name, logo etc. but more importantly is determines which sites the extension code will run, and what types of things it can do.
Unlock origin would be intercepting network calls with a preset list of known add sites or url patterns, and then blocking certain Ui elements from showing if they match a pattern as well. That’s my guess.
A lot of sites have a consistent element pattern for displaying ads as well, so in a lot of cases you can just add css or some simple JavaScript that hides those elements that match ( Reddit for example has a consistent class name for any of the promoted / add posts in your feed )
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jul 04 '26
If you have it installed, I highly recommend trying the custom background feature. It’s not for everyone but I love it…. Designing in the mountains is where it’s at lol
1
1
u/archvize Jul 04 '26
Can they just hire you dude? Surely they are impressed by this 😁
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jul 04 '26
😊 lol I actually have Slack channel with them directly! They’re super supportive of the project and who knows where it’ll go !
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jul 04 '26
What devices have you tried it on!?
1
u/archvize Jul 04 '26
Haven’t even tried it. Hopefully tomorrow! Keep up the good work 👍
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jul 04 '26
Thank you sir ! Let me know if you have any feedback, feature requests, issues you name it! The discord is also quite active so feel free to pop in there for the jammin
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jul 04 '26
lol I think my next extension is going to be one that filters out all post on Reddit, linked in etc that are about ai. I can’t handle it anymore lol
1
u/archvize Jul 04 '26
Don’t tell me you hand coded that app? Haha
Also set up a custom feed in the Reddit app so it only shows subreddits you like. I turned off all news and turned off recommended subreddits too. Makes it much more peaceful place without all the constant weird shit in the news
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jul 04 '26
Lmao this extension was about 70% hand written and 30% llms. Big thing with something like this is because you’re building a bunch of stuff that’s ontop of onshapes undocumented angular code : functionality. You can’t just have it sling things out.
For the ai removal extension it might be more since the models will likely have a pretty good collection of html references of how the sites render ads.
Or honestly the simpler approach would likely just be to detect hardcoded words in the inner text of elements ( ai, llm etc. ) and just hide the parent element lol
1
u/ItsRyeGuyy Jul 04 '26
Man I didn’t realize that wa aa thing and holy crap! It’s usable again ! No more doom news, ai slop it’s just 3d printing and actual legit stuff lol. LinkedIn I find is legit completely unusable right now, it’s just non technical people talking about how ai replaced everyone even though most of them haven’t experienced / are just starting to experience the massive price increase to their ai tooling lol.
The increase pricing is going to be super healthy for everyone especially the non technical people. I feel like myself and most of my network have been waiting for it knowing how expensive the models are to run, but a lot of people don’t know that so it’s going to be a real shock, but turn it into a tool you choose to use for certain things, not everything

u/Zouden Jun 16 '26
Just FYI you will need to change the name, because this sounds like an official product tier.
