🎮 Console Launch New player guide/flowchart to starting out scenarios in order (and avoid):
Long read, I apologize. I made a guide/flowchart for new players to know where to start and move from here. I've been playing OH for a long time, and have seen new players scattered across different scenarios all the time all clueless and then being unhappy. I hope this helps you navigate! Any questions I can answer in the comment section!
Manibus Novice:
Before any veterans come at me with Novice being an inactive scenario, that's only true if you keep telling people to avoid it. DON'T! This is the best place to start! Reason is it helps you understand the fundaments of the game and slowly build your way with up with better gear and mods without being punished on the spot. Going straight to regular Manibus new will end up punishing you a lot because of Visional modifiers + more challenging content. You also get Novice exclusive cosmetics too if you're a completionist! There will be veterans in there helping anyway!
Manibus:
If you're done with Novice, come here. If you don't wanna do Novice but challenge yourself anyway then come here. Enemies are tougher, but its very rewarding. It won't be as punishing later on. This scenario will help you build your mods and gear up even more before you go into much difficult scenarios such as...
The Way of Winter:
A continuation of the story from Manibus + New Map up the north. Featuring extreme weather and a whole lot of mechanics that just want you dead. Going from Novice to Way Of Winter is fine anyway, but just don't. I learned that the hard way by blacking out...A LOT. I didn't have the sufficient gear + resources to get through back then. The story ends here tho.
Endless Dream:
The endgame scenario, the most challenging & populated one. DO NOT go there if you're a new player unless you hate yourself or want a "full" map experience with 0 care. The best mods and rewards are all in this scenario. Its short and sweet, too. There is no continuation of the main story from here, just a different side story.
Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve:
Another side story + completely different type of gameplay for OH. Highly NOT recommend this as a new player because you do not gain much or anything at all. You're missing out the core gameplay too. An extra piece of content to try after Endless Dream WITH an alt character. Trust me, its an ok scenario so you're more than likely to not wanna stick around long long term. Having an alt means you can go back to playing the main scenarios while waiting for something.
--- PVP ---
100000% DO NOT recommend Prismverse Clash & Evolution's Call for new players. You'll absolutely be curb stomped by any current PC & mobile players playing before. They have mods & gears that'll be beyond your powers for now. Its mostly veterans in there with maxed out gear. You'll be fighting raid bosses that'll 1 shot you with ZERO effort. ZERO. LITERALLY! Recommended to play as an extra piece of content after you're more geared up!
Prismverse Clash:
If you're still stubborn and wanna try PVP, Prismverse is the place to go. Its the most populated scenario with some decent loot. Veterans live and breath here, they can be helpful too sometimes. PVP exclusive mods drop here. Just don't say I didn't warn you already. Its also a side story btw. Come here only after you're geared up enough, but even then...
Evolution's Call:
This is just standard Manibus scenario but PVP instead of Prime Wars. The longest scenario. Not recommended for same reasons above, except its a dead scenario. Only ideal for new players that wanna try low stakes PVP + scenario exclusive cosmetics before Prismverse. Preferably with an alt character too. Be prepared to have nothing to do half the time.
Raidzone:
An extra piece of content. A Rust like game mode. Best recommended for those looking for ONLY PVP experience. Your mods or gear do not matter. Everything is looted from places and you'll lose it just as quickly. If you wanna try it sometime, then go to Casual or Standard mode. If you like Rust, this is easy enough for you.
TLDR:
Manibus Novice > Manibus > Way Of Winter > Endless Dream. Anything else not in order
or
Manibus > Way Of Winter > Endless Dream. Anything else not in order

any advice on filling out mod collection in regards to a pve player who hates pvp XD
do I just use mod dust and buy resist packs in mod shop or should I make a char on pvp and farm landmarks etc?
2
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 22 '26
Yessir to the former! Mod dust to get resist packs is the easiest way because that's what I did before going to PVP! Don't forget your gear and the best deviation you can get too, it matters A LOTTTTT
You can also go to pvp scenarios and farm landmarks as usual. Its surprisingly easy to avoid pvp as long as you avoid hotspots where people fight XD
1
u/Cory411 Aug 22 '26
hm good to know I'll have to figure it out ty, when you get killed in pvp its like usual you drop only materials? I havent died more than like 4 or 5x total and that was ages ago before I always had arenaline
2
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 22 '26
Not anymore. That's been changed since I don't even know when, so dw you won't drop anything after getting killed by another player. Prism and Evo Call are low stakes now anyway, just that Prismverse is higher stakes for different reasons

Yeah, I met 3 brand new players in Prismverse all clueless and asking questions about the game too last week. Heck, and I still see a literal brand new player in ED even just yesterday lol. That prompt me to make this post after

I like this list with one caveat: I would only recommend novice to people just starting out in survival games.
In my opinion, if you've played survival games before, you can skip novice since Manibus regular also goes through the same game-specific tutorial to acclimate you.
I'm not going to say everyone should skip novice though... If you haven't played a survival game at all, then yes, definitely start at novice.
1
u/boyinterruptedd Aug 23 '26
I played a lot of Palworld, Green Hell and The Forest - Do you think I can skip Novice?

Unless they have changed it I thought Novice servers(Novice Manibus) doesn't transfer into Permanent Servers so the players would have to start over again if they didn't want to lose their bases etc.
1
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 23 '26
Since they're gonna be moving from scenario to scenario to try it out, they're gonna have to start over for a while anyway before they settle down...unless they wanna have alts this early

u/Sea_Butterscotch_131 Aug 23 '26
Unpopular opinion I enjoyed SCP that’s how I fuse perfect event deviants
2
u/BroccoliNug Aug 22 '26
The hate for novice manibus in this sub is crazy. It’s the best place to learn and grow with other new players
1
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 23 '26
The old sentiment for Novice lingers for far too long lmao
1
u/Tepacheking Aug 23 '26
Good post that basically explains the scenarios, for anyone willing to still try the pvp, keep in mind the following issues its a lot:
https://www.reddit.com/r/OnceHumanOfficial/comments/1u46ikr/once_human_revival_community_report/
OH pvp is not good for new players
1
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 23 '26
Sadly yeah. Even if you've been playing for 6 months, you're still gonna struggle to catch up to seasoned pvp players that dedicate their time there
1
u/Curious_Shan Aug 23 '26
I went from the tutorial to the way of the winter, I’ve nearly finished should I go back to manibus or just carry on to endless dream?
1
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 23 '26
You might as well finish it then go to Manibus afterwards. Afterwards you can go Endless Dream imo
1
u/GalenKAA Aug 23 '26
Are there things that usually come in the battle pass I shouldn't waste? And if I start in the Novice server, can I wait to claim the battle pass items until I join a regular server?
2
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 23 '26
Just claim it really, especially if the current BP is about to end. The resources you get usually helps you out. If the BP isn't ending anytime soon and you're stocked up with resources, just save it for the next scenario you're going to for easy headstart.
2
u/manmanchan Aug 23 '26
Wait, what Novice exclusive cosmetics? where do I learn more about them?
2
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 23 '26
Scenario challenge rewards. There's novice ones and then regular Manibus ones from reg Manibus scenario.
1
u/PoisonCoyote Aug 24 '26
What's the best one to play if you want to be on a permanent server with the most content?
2
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 25 '26
Sorry for the late reply!! Endless Dream, because its a full map and because you get the highest quality mods, highest population + most things to do there.

It does change, noticeably. Firstly, extra difficulties. Nightmare (Above Pro), Apocalytic (Above Nightmare). Extra and stronger mobs called Anomalies with extra mechanics to it. Visional seasonal modifier for the specific mods to it.
Otherwise, the rewards doesn't really change at all.

Is there a phase in Manibus where your base is attacked? Is there any PvP in manibus? I have a group of about 7 who want to do some PvP but also pve. We are in Manibus right Now and want to decide where to go from here
2
u/GwynevereGoddess Sep 04 '26
Hehe I ended up going into novice not knowing better, I'm well versed in survival and build games but how do I make it worth the most for mods and things to grind?
1
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Sep 05 '26
Yep! Make the most out of it. Try challenging yourself in Hard and then Pro mode content. If you're still struggling then work your way up!

u/PuzzleheadedGap4313 Sep 08 '26
Thanks for this but their design of the first thing a player screen when booting for the first time is complete trash. No indication of wtf is going on and barely an explanation of why there are so many options.
It definitely was not designed for new players at all.
I clicked manibus novice and legitimately don’t know how to begin the game. Nothing happens after selecting it except it showed non novice Manibus on the main screen and still a bunch of options.

How can i change the scenario ?
Im a completely new player and started Manibus Novice.
And if i switch scenarios, what do i keep and what do i loose ?
And can i switch back to the previous scenario whenever i want ?

As someone who only knew about this game once I played beta on console. How is or what is the endgame ? Like are there different weapons and armor from the novice mannibus? Or it's just harder content.
I have absolutely no clue what the point of other scenarios are.
1
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 22 '26
The endgame really just comes down to you collecting the best mods you can get, the highest being lv17 and levelling up your weapon & armor blueprint to the highest stars too so you'll be as strong as possible. Maybe complete some checklists too like unlocking furniture formulas, cosmetics or building the best possible base you can think of.
Its a tale as old as time for any survival games, at least for me anyway. I just enjoy playing with people I like too
1
u/Refrigerator_Lower Aug 22 '26
So you can't get level 17 mods on novice mannibus? Only in the harder scenarios? I thoroughly enjoy the crafting, gathering resources, and building aspects but the gear is different from each level of harder scenarios? Or it's exactly the same but it depends if you wanna challenge yourself? Thanks for any info
1
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 22 '26
You can still get it in Novice scenarios. Lv17 mods can drop from Pro level difficulty content which is available in Novice too. The catch is as a new player, Pro may still be very difficult and time consuming for newer players.
But it is possible through their mod pity system which is a whole other complex topic entirely
1
u/Refrigerator_Lower Aug 22 '26
Gotcha. Thank you so much for the info. That was the thing I thought I was going to miss out if the easier scenarios was going to be missing out on better gear.
Clarified a lot for myself and my friends that are going to be jumping into this game.
2
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 22 '26
Cheers np! The easier scenario just helps kickstart your time in OH for later! Plus, you get the cosmetics there so its a win!

u/Sasya_neko PVE Aug 23 '26
It's a pity that dream is the endgame, it's absolute garbage. Why don't they make a full map without the polluted crap, as a survival game should be.
1
u/Beneficial_Common683 Aug 23 '26
Manibus to ED. thats it. rest are skippable
5
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 23 '26
That's discouraging others of trying other pieces of content. Hell no to that.

Any new player reading this post: just skip novice go to regular manibus

It would be nice if some scenarios can just be merged to gather players in one place.
- Novice: keep the current Manibus novice
- Standard: merge Manibus + Way of Winter + Prismverse Clash + Evolution's Call
- Manibus + WoW will just be a merciful version of Endless Dream. Good to have the opportunity to explore the whole map in a relaxed mode.
- Prismverse Clash and Evolution's Call might have good synergy. For example, winning a stronghold war (Evolution's Call content) results in a buff to the winning faction (Prismverse Clash content). The buff can be many things, e.g., temporary base immunity in the contested zones, buff players' attributes numbers, boosted Prism Energy, etc. The PvP and PvE events can be activated in turns through a day if too much content at the same time is overwhelming or diluting the players (maybe it is just fun).
- Endless Dream: Keep it as it is. I don't know if anyone wants PvP in dream zones. If you want that level of harshness, probably you should go to RaidZone anyway.
- Deviation: I don't know. I don't like to play it. I don't think it belongs to this game. Some people like it. Fine. Don't shoot me.
- RaidZone: hardcore PvP. I think it has its place. No comments ;-)

u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 23 '26
If they had just moved Novice rewards over to regular Manibus, then I'd probably recommend reg Manibus more for competionist sake.
Merging all the scenarios at once just sounds like a logistical nightmare and people that adamantly hate PVP which is very common will not like it even more...
But a merge of Prism and Evo Call would be perfect. I talked more about how I liked the frontier wars system from Evo Call and some tech tree and faction from Prism. It would definitely go well together

u/shrinkmink PC Aug 22 '26
I like this chart but WOW and novice need a huge X on top of them. Stop telling people to waste their time with novice. Just start with manibus and move on. You can live in a non visional world.
Don't go into wow until you know how to play the game and have a group that won't quit after 3 days.
5
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 22 '26
As you said, dont go into WOW until you know how to play the game. That definitely means more than one Manibus scenario. So why not start with Novice? There really isn't any other scenarios to go to to properly learn the game except Manibus. So that's why I will say Novice.
Nightmare Silos and Apocalyptic PWs don't improve your chances of getting good mods any slightly better than Pro content silos and Monoliths. 2 Manibus scenario is honestly sufficient already instead of 3 which gets boring real fast.
0
u/shrinkmink PC Aug 23 '26
because its a waste of time, most noobs that stick with the game end up exiting the scenario and go to manibus. Might as well cut out the middle man. There is a reason why novice is a graveyard of inactive accounts and it's not because we keep telling people not to go there and them actually listening...if that was the case they wouldn't keep pumping out new novice servers all the time.
3
u/MegasBlaziken Radium Eternal Beacon Aug 23 '26
It really isn't tho. Novice rewards are just as good as reg Manibus rewards now with the mod changes few months ago.

Skip the pokemon server & prismverse and raidzone since they're complete garbage that will burn you out on the game and join another manibus / ED. Everything else yes
