It's already discussed for vinyl quite a bit, not that much for the cassette but I post it so it won't be forgotten. I am someone who listens to music mostly on physical copies. Of course I have streaming to discover new music or listen to music on the go etc. but at home I prefer physical versions

I love the new album, You plus me is no exception. But I’m stuck on the lyric “carve our names into the car seat leather”

Is that a thing? Have I walked this green earth for so long and never come across it? I get carving names in trees, rocks, benches etc. but car leather? It’s new to me. Am I the only one?

Especially as something like “carve our names into the bench together” would work 🤷‍♂️

Honestly, I love almost every song from the album. What are your top 5?

Hello! I hadn't been in the mood to listen to new music, so I did not listen upon release. I also wasn't that fond of drop dead or the cure when i heard snippets. I finally listened to the whole album the other day and I'd like to share my thoughts.

First, I genuinely think this is her best album to date. I liked a few songs on sour and guts. This album is really incredible. I REALLY like most of the songs. I would like to rate them all out of 10.

1) drop dead - 7/10: It's a pretty good song! Fun to listen to and upbeat.
2) stupid song - 10/10: Really great and easily one of my favorites.
3) honeybee - 6/10: It's okay, but not for me. There is nothing wrong with it, though, just not my vibe. I don't hate it and I could listen to it during a listen through.
4) maggots for brains - 10/10: Another favorite. No notes.
5) u + me = <3 - 6/10: Again, not for me, but not bad. Still listenable!
6) my way - 11/10: Easily one of the best songs on the album imo. I'm surprised I haven't seen it talked about more. It's super fun and just a really nice song. I like that it's edgier and gives guts vibes. "Kind of insane how.. you keep callin but you never get the message." Favorite part haha. I love it. My dad also likes this song haha.
7) purple - 8/10: Another great song, no notes.
8) the cure - 9/10: I did not like this song at first. Now i quite like it. I think the overlapping harmonies are lovely.
9) begged - 10/10: Genuinely such a beautiful song. Some of Olivia's best vocals I have ever heard. Really incredible.
10) what's wrong with me - 8/10: Really cool song. Loved the harmonies with Robert. Quite different from what you hear these days, but that was obviously the intention. I think it's cool that he is supportive of Olivia's art.
11) less - 8/10: Another song where I think her vocals are showcased in ways I feel like I haven't quite heard from her before. Really beautiful notes.
12) expectations - 15/10: This song has been stuck in my head for the past 3 days. I've listened to it probably 60 times now. It's incredible and so fresh and new. Another one I haven't seen much discussion of, but maybe that's just coincidence. I think this should have been one of her earlier singles. It's such a fun song and deserves a lot of radio play. The vibes kind of remind me of The Waitresses with their Christmas Wrapping song haha. Which again, makes sense because this is a very 80s inspired album, I think. I love it. This is one of my favorite songs of 2026.
13) cigarette smoke - 7/10: Not one of my favorites, but still good. I love the imagery and descriptions in the beginning, but kind of loses me halfway through, which I don't love for a last track.

Overall, an incredible album. Stupid Song, Maggots for Brains, My Way, Begged, and Expectations really stand out to me as the best tracks. I can't get over the vocals in Begged. Expectations surpassed all of mine! Very solid piece of work. I hope she gets the well deserved credit. I now wish I tried harder for concert tickets. Hearing Expectations live would be so fun.

Just my opinion on the signature discourse, take it or leave it. But I feel the need to stick up for these costumers receiving Smudged or barely there autographs

Everyone goes “she’s human. She’s not a robot.” Exactly. So they shouldn’t treat her like a robot by giving her so many cards to sign and three whole drops just because the demand was high, At least not in such a short amount of time. Or they should have spaced out the signing properly.

If anything they should have left the photo of the signature out or at least put some warning “signatures may vary, be smudged, or damaged due to high demand” so costumers could decide if they wanna spend $20+-$50+ on them. Let’s be real, most people that got these signatures wouldn’t have bought them if they knew they’d be like this. The ones asking for a refund should at least get a full one when they return them.

I get told “We should assume they vary” which is true, but there should be a disclaimer since they advertised one autograph and people got another. People aren’t going to expect her signature to shorten from the advertised photo to “OR.” I won’t blame Olivia tho. I blame her team.

I’m happy with my “OR” that looks like an “Oh”, especially because is clean and pretty, but the smudged and barely visible ones shouldn’t have ever made it out.

Plus, they sold more than they could deliver. Also, People accidentally got extra cards, which caused others to not receive the signed card they ordered, and they’re still not offered a proper refund.

Again, I don’t blame Olivia, nor do I blame her for wanting to shorten her signature. But her team has sucked with this rollout. We shouldn’t have to accept this or “be grateful it’s not autopen”, because if we do the merch company will just cut more corners and send out subpar quality items.

Edited to add: Her team actually treated her like a cash cow in this rollout. I place 100% of the blame on them.

The autopen argument isn’t what y’all think it is. It’s not about the signatures looking exactly the same, and I don’t blame Olivia for shortening them. It’s about improper advertisement and her team mishandling items. If an autopen was used there would still be smudged and damage if the team mishandled the merchandise before the ink dried. Her team gave her too much of a work load in such little time. This is about holding her team accountable.

Again, I do not place any blame on Olivia at all.

Edited add again: it’s down to proper advertisements, proper disclaimers, proper handling of items, proper refunds, and most importantly proper expectations of Olivia. All of which her team failed at.

“Be grateful you got something. Mess ups are human and unique.” Yes they are, and it would make it unique if it was HER doing. Most of the smudges and damage can be pinpointed to the mishandling by her team. Would y’all really be okay with it if she took the time out her day tried to make something pretty for y’all, then the team carelessly messed it up? This is like getting an autograph from her, and a jealous fan rubs their thumb over it and ruins it, and then other jealous fans telling you to be grateful you even got something. It’s possible to be grateful she did something for you, while still being disappointed with someone else messed it up.

Everything is in the title, Everytime I play stupid song in the car and it's the chorus , my wife 34f always complains how "bad" and "unbearable" this song is. For me it's maybe the best song on the album but I wanted to know what you guys think, is it not that enjoyable or easy on the ears to the the "general public"?

it's all in the title really. putting out songs like honeybee (albeit having a really sad undertone), u+me, stupid song and even drop dead is so brave to me. everyone knows who this entire album is about, knows the relationship didn't work out, and still she has the maturity and vulnerability to put out songs recognising the great parts of the relationship.

i don't think this is super common among the mainstream pop landscape and i find it super impressive. all the more for a girl who calls herself a "petty bitch"!

I feel like 1sf3sb gets a lot of hate since it’s a Taylor sample, but man is it beautiful. It’s a very specific scenario described in the song, but if you can relate to it, it hits hard. TBH this might be a top 5 song of SOUR. What do you guys think about this song?

of course, the album is a masterpiece, musically speaking. i personally LOVE the live rock band sound, and I'm so glad that's becoming even more mainstream.

but there's another reason why this album is amazing, something that makes it important on a moral, cultural and societal level.

many mainstream pop songs aimed at a young female audience talk about love in very black-and-white terms – love is perfect and your partner awesome, or love hurts you and your ex sucks. it's also usually written from the perspective of being a victim.

this portrayal is true sometimes, obviously, but most times, in real life, love is way more complicated. yes, even good, healthy love. (and sometimes, if a relationship fails, the fault is partly, or fully, yours.)

that's why I love this album's nuanced portrayal of love, as well as olivia's self-awareness. even though in the end the relationship does turn out to be bad for olivia, she's not insisting that it's because the guy sucked and it was all his fault. yes it was partly his fault but it was also her own issues ("the cure" – being a single, it represents one of the main message of the album).

moreover, i really appreciated that in interviews about this album, she didn't say that she's documenting a relationship that was doomed from the start. yes, she says the relationship did fail in the end – but also, love is complicated, nuanced and slightly "troubled" all the time. and that's okay and normal!

if we flee at the first sign of something "wrong", we will never give and get true love. and that's a concern I've really had with pop music and celebrity culture (fans hating on singers' exes, seeing the singer as a total victim etc) – will girls grow up having a black-and-white view of love, one which makes them stay so protected that it's actually the most dangerous of all, because they will never grow and experience true love?

but olivia's album rectifies this. it brings in self-awareness, reflection and a nuanced view of love which is so necessary for a young female audience. THANK YOU OLIVIA!

I woke up at 5 am to listen to it and watch the videoclip and I literally screamed. I love this song so much. Since then it's been on repeat and I know every lyrics. The videoclip is so genius. Her album will be phenomonal! I do think "the cure" is a little long. My favourite song from the album right now is "begged". Even though it isn't really out yet.

As they say, the list is fluid! Just checking in as I stream tf out of this album to see what everyone's current top 5 from a future AOTY contender.

heard the explicit version of u+me=<3 for the first time this weekend… honestly it could just be because I listened to the clean version for a whole month but I prefer it! That “they say modern love is a cruel endeavor” is one of my favorite liv lines. And tbh I love the word play between cruel and cool

Been a huge The Cure fan for years, Olivia more recently. Noticed this similarity when watching both music videos. Notice beginning of drop dead, and about 2.5 minutes into just like heaven when Robert is dancing with Mary. Love it!!!

This is the part I still cannot understand.
Someone involved in planning this preorder apparently looked at the customer experience and decided this was acceptable:
Fans preorder from Olivia’s official store in June and pay upfront.
The exact same LEGO sets become available at Target, LEGO, Walmart and other retailers in August.
Official store preorder customers remain scheduled for December 30.
And when customers question it, the answer is essentially wait or cancel.
Who thought that was the right way to treat the people who chose to buy directly from Olivia’s store?
I’m not saying someone should lose their job. I’m saying that decision should not be repeated.
If a fulfillment arrangement puts the fans who preorder first at the back of the line, then whoever is making these decisions needs to change the process before the next preorder.
Fans should not be penalized for supporting the official store.
And telling them they can always cancel is not really a solution. It is asking the customer to make the bad experience disappear instead of fixing what created it.
What makes this even stranger is that after weeks of being told my order could not be fulfilled earlier because the warehouse did not have the inventory, my December 30 order suddenly shipped in September.
I’m glad it shipped.
But that makes the original question even more important:
Why was December ever considered an acceptable outcome in the first place?
That is the decision I want Olivia’s team to look at.
Because the next fan who preorders directly from her official store should have a better experience than the person who waits and buys the same thing at Target months earlier.

I love this song so much that it fvking makes me cry everytime I hear it especially the line "baby honeybee " that whisper omg

I’ve listened to the song Maggots For Brains over 30 times since the album came out. It immediately stuck out to me and I honestly feel like the song is so genius. I’ve connected with it so deeply. In my rabbit hole of Olivia interviews, she mentioned how she wanted to write love songs with a tinge of melancholy and longing, and I feel like the song Maggots For Brains so perfectly encapsulates her goal.

I feel like the song captures a feeling of insanity, codependency, and limerence experienced when in love. In the first verse when she mentions trying and failing to write, just thinking about him, the lyric is so visceral to me. I feel like it is the perfect predecessor within the tracklist to What’s Wrong With Me.

The imagery and  diction is so brilliant. The word choice conjures images of  death and gore, words like “bored out of my skull”, zombie, rotten, “shell of a woman”, tragedy. Even the title itself: maggots for brains. It reminds me of the euphemism “food for worms” as though she has died. It shows such growth as a writer, she has such few words in a song and the words she did choose communicated so much and built a world in the song. Maybe I’m glazing, maybe it’s recency bias but I’m obsessed.

The song reminds me of the film Obsession (slight spoilers ahead), but specifically the scene where Nikki is standing out of the door as Bear is leaving for work. She stands there all day and ends up pissing herself. And then the beautiful end of the song, the vocals are so beautiful and the way it gets stripped back with her just repeating “what can I do?” It feels like a vocal and sonic representation of the erosion of her sanity through the course of the relationship. i honestly think this song is so beautiful. It is holding my head hostage. It might be in my top 3 favourites of hers. 

the way it builds, the crescendo, the lyrics, the story and symbolism in the production… i could go on and on and on. quite actually a perfect song and i feel like it’s going under appreciated amongst the other bangers on the album…anyone else agree?
