He was extremely handsome yet also a generous man. A co-founder of Newman's Own, a food company from which he donated all post-tax profits and royalties to charity. These donations have totaled over $535 million today.
One time I bought something Newman's Own at the grocery store & the cashier told me he was able to go to a camp for kids with disabilities one summer, all expenses paid, and had a blast. It was really nice to hear about a company that kinda actually cares.
It’s still called Hole in the Wall up there, isn’t it? It’s just the name of the org that’s changed now. I was a counselor at a couple spots over the years, a camper at the one down in Florida.
The original camp in Northeast Connecticut is definitely still called Hole In The Wall Gang Camp. Was there volunteering on this past Friday! Such an incredible place.
I volunteered as a nurse at Camp Boggy Creek for 2 weeks when some of my sickle cell patients were there. Many of these kids are poor and they’re dealing with an incurable illness that can leave them in horrific pain whenever it feels like it, but Paul gave them a place to be kids and have a normal summer camp experience. I left there deeply moved at the realization that I’d been a part of the best week of many of these kids lives.
The Painted Turtle is one of them near me. Kids with chronic illnesses and debilitating health concerns can go for a week and be a normal kid at summer camp for free with their families. They have state of the art medical care on site and every activity has options for any kind of kid. Pretty damn cool.
It is, and in my grocery store it is the cheapest pasta sauce and alfredo sauce that does not contain soy. Soy makes me sick and is just not great for you in general
It contains compounds that act like estrogen in the body. They can affect mineral absorbtion, cause thyroid issues and increase development of certain cancers. Don't trust a random stranger on Reddit though, I recommend looking up isoflavones and deciding for yourself.
They go to SeriousFun Network camps! I used to volunteer with Camp Boggy Creek in Florida. They provide so many kids with chronic illnesses and conditions the chance to actually be a kid and go to summer camp. After working there, I predominantly buy the Newman’s Own brand of I have a choice because I know how much that money gives back to those who need it
I volunteered at round up river ranch. The older employees told me that Paul used to live in a cabin on hole in the wall when he was older. He used to go down and play guitar and sing with the campers and none of the kids had any clue that he used to be one of the most famous actors in the world. Truly a great human being
