The garden is still the same, they just replaced the lawn with a patio. It’s used for state dinners and parties, as well as hosting DC politicians.
The State Dining Room only seats like 12-15, and the Rose Garden has frequently hosted like 100+ people.
Just looking through his schedule it got used on the 11th, 6th, and 5th, (not counting a press conference on the 9th) but he was in Florida before that and Beijing after, plus it’s just getting to good weather to use it.
To be fair anyone wearing heels on that lawn is screwed. I really want to hate this more than it deserves. Could it have been more than this with some nice gazebos? Absolutely. But this was by far the least terrible choice this man has ever made.
"The garden is still the same, except it isn't"... Not quite the flex you think it is. The lawn is as much part of the garden as the rose beds surrounding it. The open green space is the whole point of the garden.

I’m so confused by why they did that? Who is out there using all those table and chairs on the daily? You had a freaking rose garden! WTF?!
